Fort Golf Course Resort
About Fort Golf Course Resort
The Fort Golf Course Resort was created in 1996 from Fort Benjamin Harrison, once a key U.S. Army post. The redeveloped military base has become a popular 1,700-acre state park with hills galore for hikers, bikers and golfers. Owned and operated by the State of Indiana, the 7,148-yard Pete Dye design features tree-lined fairways and Dye’s penchant for tough and interesting holes. The Fort Harrison Inn, a limestone structure built in the 1940s, offers 27 rooms and suites and the Garrison Restaurant. The Harrison House (seven more rooms and suites) and four Officer Homes are also available for overnight stays.Facts

A challenge for all skill levels
I played as a single with three others of varying skill levels. Each played a different tee and we all shot in the 80s. The course was in excellent condition and greens were pristine. It offers challenging distance and some high risk/reward holes for longer, more skilled players while remaining enjoyable for players of higher handicap. I can't wait to return to The Fort
Fantastic
The course was in great shape ( it always is) a couple greens need some work . Other than that a great track . I will play it over and over
Thank you so much for the great review and 5-Stars! We are so happy you had such a great time and we are thrilled to hear you will be back. Please let us know if you ever need anything and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Very nice layout and very challenging pending what tee's played.
Love The Fort, play hear at least once a month. Really challenges your placement from tips. Typically course in always in great shape, sometime pace of play can we slow. Course gets a good amount of play for the value. Definitely and must play.
Thank you very much for your review and feedback. We are so happy you had a great time and see the value in playing with us. Please come back and see us again soon.
Use the website to book tee time!!
Saw reduced green fee rates on website . Called to make tee time and mentioned rate shown on website. When we paid they would not honor the website rate because we did not make reservation on website. Cost me an additional $48. We are from out of town and visit Indy three or four times a year. Probably won't play here again.
Also, the golfers that play here are challenged at divot fixing. Fixed at least 5 divots on every hole.
Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you would like to discuss this issue further, please email us at fortgolfresortmanagement@gmail.com. Thank you, and once again, we are so sorry to hear you were disappointed with your experience.
Wonderful Golf Course
I played with two other average golfers today. We played from the blue tees. A couple of holes were challenging to reach the fairway if you are not an average player but it made it all the more challenging for a regular player. Wide fairways were a plus, undulation was a nice surprise considering we are in Indianapolis. The course was cart path only when we played so it was a long round. Rangers and other staff were extremely friendly and helpful. As for price, if you pay full, it is a little steep. Anyway, I would highly recommend and look forward to coming back. *****
Thank you for your review and feedback of your golf course. We are so happy you had a great time on the golf course and we hope you will come back and see us again soon!
Cart path only!
3rd time in a row i booked on golfnow and found out it was cartpath only. Never again.
Thank you browncarpet123 for your review and feedback. We apologize for not notifying you that it was cart path only. This can happen last minute due to recent rains, but we make every attempt to notify our guests of the changes. Please send us an email at fortgolfresortmanagement@gmail.com so we may invite you back for another round. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Great layout
Was there for first weekend it was open, so cart path only was a bit of a drag. Course looked good & staff very friendly. We had reduced rate, not sure it's worth what they want in summer?
Thank you mvm2920 for your review and feedback of The Fort Golf Resort. We appreciate you taking the time to give us your comments and we are so happy you had a good time even though it was cart path only, as we know that can be a pain. Please come back and see us again when the course opens up to carts as we would love to have you back!
This is it?
Overrated. I had heard about how great this course was but after we finished it was like, that's it? Just didn't leave an awesome feeling with me, very bland. was difficult but just lacked something. It was dead and played super fast which was cool but just didn't have any wow factor for me. SUPER overpriced as well even on golfnow. just my opinion
Excellent it's December
It was a beautiful day in December and the pace of play was pretty good not much to complain about. The course was in pretty good shape for it being December balls rolled like you'd except for December..
Thank you John for your review and feedback of our golf course. Please let us know if you ever need anything and come back and see us again very soon!
Beautiful course especially with the fall colors
Beautiful course very well maintained. Staff is like dealing with people from a business with very old business practices. This is the third time I've played this course and each time the staff was not very friendly.
Another Great Round
In my opinion, The Fort is really the standard for top notch public golf in Indy. Layout is spectacular and never boring, staff is friendly, course is always immaculate. Greens were just punched last week but still rolling more true than many public courses in the area. I'll be taking advantage of their fall rates again before the snow flies.
Great Course but slow pace
My buddy and I were looking forward to playing here. We really loved the course itself, but was disappointed in how they handled the pace of play. We booked as a twosome and they paired us with another twosome, which was no big deal to us. However, there was a twosome in front of us that was holding us up on every single hole and they had a least two holes empty in front of them. Seen one ranger all day and did not seem to care about a twosome holding us up. Had three twosomes behind us that we were holding up but we could not go anywhere..... Also for the price of this course we would of expected GPS on Carts.... Overall Great Course but not worth the price..... would only play here again on a Hot Deal through GolfNow...
Great course with character
Amazing layout, very difficult at times with also done easy scoring holes for any level golfer. Only complaint is greens whe they role true have a lot of ball repair marks. Staff was great, pace of play for a foursome was just under 5 hours which is little long for my liking but overall great course and will definitely go back and play again
Dye is smiling
Fantastic venue and serious challenge.
Used every club to plan the drive, approach and preferred putt angle.
Front nine greens were pock-marked by inconsiderate or unintelligent golfers, but the back nine greens in much better shape.
Drove 3 hours to play with a friend and it was well worth it. Every employee was welcoming and friendly.
Hope to play again soon.
Bogey Man
Loved the design. The old growth trees and undulating fairways and greens make it a challenge. Fun to play and would definitely go back.
Great course but the greens need attention
We always have enjoyed playing at The Fort. No issues with the overall conditions except for the greens. The have been very acceptable in the past, generally firm and in good repair. On August 16th, they were extremely pock-marked with unrepaired and/or regrowing ball marks. We had a number of putts that bounced and others that were thrown offline after traversing areas that were not all all smooth. I'm not a turf expert, but the greens looked like they need punching or slitting, top dressing with sand, and rolling.
Hills in the flatland
Gorgeous setting in metro Indy. Hard to fathom the elevation changes in flat corn country but this course reminds you of North Carolina. Another plus is no homes, just golf course. Fairways and bunkers in excellent condition, greens a little beat up, probably from recent rain. Gets a lot of play as well. Played in four hours which sometimes doesn't happen here. Newbies need to play the correct tees...if not, can jam up the whole course.
Great layout!
The course layout is worth how much you pay!!!. The pace of play was 5 1/2 so not great. Got paired up with, which was expected since it is an extremely busy course. Explains why the greens are in horrible conditions. The amount of ball marks, burned out sections and foot traffic make putting a real challenge on top of the course design. No matter the green conditions I would still go back and play again because of the layout.
Great course
One of the best public courses in the state. Always enjoy playing The Fort
Fun Day at the Fort
This was my first time playing The Fort and really enjoyed the track. Overall the conditions were very good. The course had held up pretty well to all the rain the region had received, although there were a few pretty mushy areas around. The course is not the most challenging course around although a few holes tested your skills and local knowledge helped on a couple holes. Overall, good solids course that I would definately paly again.
Thanks for your review and feedback! We are glad to give you a bit of a challenge and proud to hear that you found our course to be in excellent condition! Come back and play again soon!
