Fort Golf Course Resort
About Fort Golf Course Resort
The Fort Golf Course Resort was created in 1996 from Fort Benjamin Harrison, once a key U.S. Army post. The redeveloped military base has become a popular 1,700-acre state park with hills galore for hikers, bikers and golfers. Owned and operated by the State of Indiana, the 7,148-yard Pete Dye design features tree-lined fairways and Dye’s penchant for tough and interesting holes. The Fort Harrison Inn, a limestone structure built in the 1940s, offers 27 rooms and suites and the Garrison Restaurant. The Harrison House (seven more rooms and suites) and four Officer Homes are also available for overnight stays.Facts

GREAT golf course!
This is my favorite golf course! It is challenging but fair and the course was in excellent condition.
nice
Best shape I have seen the course in a while. Greens very quick. Great value.
Beautiful Course
Beautiful course. i can't complain for paying $40, but you might as well walk with cart path only rules. Very large fairways with a lot of elevation. I'll take sore legs to play this course any day. Only complaint: my six pack was given to me in a bag instead of a cooler. Staff was exceptional. Course condition was great for the time of the year. Anytime you see a hot deal snag it!
The Fort Golf Course
The Fort is always a delight. Very challenging. Partly due to the terrain, but also because of the great design and course condition, which is always excellent. Pace of play can be slow if you're behind those where the course eats them up and spits them out.
Played with my buddies and we always grab the opportunity to play here when we can.
Beautiful Course
First time playing The Fort. Course was in great condition considering the amount of rain we received in the days prior. The course is challenging, but is fair. There aren't a lot of hidden hazards. Staff was friendly. Pace was good.
Not worth the money...
This was my first time playing this course. I live in the Noblesville area and play many courses around the area including Sagamore. Given the amount of money that it cost to play ($50) and the condition the course was in, I doubt I'll be back any time soon. It's an unjustice to golfers when courses over price their rounds with out giving clear notice of the course conditions. First, a cart-path only rule was enforced, which I don't mind. However, I wasn't told that until after I payed...and was still charged for the cart. Second, the greens were atrocious, covered with poa annua, dirt and debris, and had obviously not been manicured in a few weeks. The tee boxes were in decent shape, nothing fancy, and the fairways were ok at-best. Granite, it was the first of April, but there is no way I would have spent $50 to play on that poor of quality had I known first. Golf is suppose to be a trustworthy sport, but instead you get robbed by over priced, munciple courses for horrendous quality. That round wasn't worth $30, let alone $50. All that being said, everyone one working there had an excellent attitude and were extremely nice.
One of the Best in the state. No kidding.
Had a 30min frost delay, but still a great day to play The Fort. This is one of the best in the state. I've played here at least once per yr for the last 15yrs & it's always in great shape. This trip was no exception. Tees, fairways & greens were great, tightly mowed. Greens had been punched a few weeks ago, but rolled FAST. Grounds crew does a great job moving leaves out of the way and considering the weather this place is in spectacular shape. Lots of elevation change, great risk-reward holes, and some of the best holes in the state. I'll put the par 5s on this course (all of em) vs any course you know of. If you get a chance, GO.
Indy's FORT
great course, friendly staff.
fall aeration of greens and cold weather, but pricing was appropriate.
Course in great shape only negative is the greens recently aerated
Beautiful course and in great shape!!i would highly reccomend this course especially with a golf now "hot deals"
Holding down the Fort
A great golf venue. Interesting holes with challenges. A very fair test. Too many players play from the blue tees, 6800 yards is too much for most of us. The whites are fine. A true value.
One of Indianapolis's best courses
Played on a Sunday at noon on a hot deal for $35. Was also able to use a BOGO free coupon through Golfnow (essentially playing for $20). The greens had just been aerated, but were still rolling true and in better shape then most courses on their best day. The practice facilities here are also very well maintained. Normally a little pricey, but well worth it!
Most Beautiful Round of the Year
Worth every penny. The course reminds me of the IU and The Hill course at French Lick slopping tree lined fairways and challenging greens. The next hole is more beautiful than the last one. Well maintained and a blast to play. Not overly long so every skill level can enjoy this course. I will be back.
Greens and bunkers
Course is quite nice and had some spectacular views. Pace of play was good.
The bunkers were not level or recently raked and the greens have great potential if not for so many divot marks.
A must play!
This course is fantastic, period! One thing, if you do not hit the ball straight here you can pay for it on your scorecard. The layout is amazing. I have played it for the last three years when I go out to Indy for the Moto GP race in August. I will be there again in 2015. If you are in the area you really want to play this course. I have been to Myrtle Beach and played probably close to 60 or so of there top rated courses and The Fort is in my top three I have ever played in my life, go play!
Greens need attention
A beautiful course. Always love the layout. The greens were pretty beat up and need some attention. Not worth 75 bucks with those greens.
The Fort Golf Course
The Good: Excellent Pete Dye and Tim Liddy design just east of Indianapolis is on-site at an old Army base. The Fort proves that a course does not need extravagant water hazards or gimmicks to be a fun place to play as there are minimal water hazards throughout the tree-lined, hilly layout. Spectacular course conditions, great service, and very nice off-course amenities including excellent lodging accommodations.
The Bad: The practice facility does not match the quality of course. The greens are usually in excellent condition; however they can be so slick that they can be extremely difficult. GPS on the carts would be a nice addition.
The Verdict: For good old-fashioned golf, The Fort is perhaps the best yard-for-yard public facility in the entire state of Indiana. The course conditions and overall golf experience are rivaled by very few. Make sure that you bring a lot of balls as the trees seem to gobble them up.
Best Hole: The Par 3 5th hole is arguably the best Par 3 in the entire state of Indiana. You must avoid the treacherous bunker on the right as it has a 4-5 foot lip that turns a good front nine into a nightmare.
course is not for beginners
very good course lots of trees and bunkers, huge 3 or 4 club greens , decent speed not lightning. about 8 on stimp , need high iron game for well bunkered greens, need good overall sand game too. cant take carts in parking lot = pain but not a deal breaker.
The Fort is excellent.
This course is a great challenge for any golfer. The greens were very tricky and the course has a elevation changes with rolling hills through the trees. Fair and open landing areas for driving from the tee box, but all greens seems to be a bit elevated. It was in great condition and the price after 4PM was OK, the course is too pricey before that time slot. It was beautiful and a lovely "park like atmosphere". No houses on the entire course.
Great course!
The course has generous fairways and an intermediate cut of rough. I was only in the tall rough a couple of times but drew good enough lies to still advance the ball to the green. Greens were receptive and rolled beautifully. Play the correct tees and it's a very enjoyable course and definitely worth the money.
Awesome course in fantastic shape.
Site of the 2015 and 2016 Big Ten Championship. Golfnow.com got me on at a great rate.
