Fort Golf Course Resort
About Fort Golf Course Resort
The Fort Golf Course Resort was created in 1996 from Fort Benjamin Harrison, once a key U.S. Army post. The redeveloped military base has become a popular 1,700-acre state park with hills galore for hikers, bikers and golfers. Owned and operated by the State of Indiana, the 7,148-yard Pete Dye design features tree-lined fairways and Dye’s penchant for tough and interesting holes. The Fort Harrison Inn, a limestone structure built in the 1940s, offers 27 rooms and suites and the Garrison Restaurant. The Harrison House (seven more rooms and suites) and four Officer Homes are also available for overnight stays.Facts

Awesome course in fantastic shape.
Site of the 2015 and 2016 Big Ten Championship. Golfnow.com got me on at a great rate.
A must play in INDY!!
The course is in great condition. Back nine is more challenging then the back but both are great layouts.
Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Pace of play was great, it did start to rain on the 18th hole tried to wait it out but not successful. So we didn't get to play the last hole. It looked awesome as we travelled in as fast as we could to avoid getting wet. If I was going to make any negative suggestion the seventh hole should be the ninth hole coming into the club hole, should be one of the signature holes.
soggy day but GREAT course anyways
In spite of having 2 inches of rain earlier in day, the course was still a PLEASURE to play. I'd heard many great things about this Pete Dye course and it lived up to its reputation. For several holes I had to pinch myself to make sure I was not playing in Northern Michigan - my favorite place to play golf. The elevation chagnes are unusual for Central Indiana and are used very effectively. The hot deal we snagged was also excellent! We'll be back!
Dr.H.Qazi
We reached to golf course earlier.Tee was open and remained open for an hour.Pro shop showed a kind of hostility using Golf.com forTress times.
They informed me that do not get any one from my $80.00.They were not friendly.
My favorite Indy Course, looked a bit shabby today
By far my favorite public course in Indy, the greens were a bit rough and bouncy, and construction on a few holes was a bit distracting, especially 15.
Great Course
Most scenic, pure golf course in the Indy area. Favorite course by far!
The Fort - great course, greens need some love
I've played here 20-30 times the last 3-5 years. My one complaint is that the rates are at a premium level and the greens have not been pristine in a couple years.
This course has a beautiful layout
This is a beautiful, very scenic golf course. It has a lot of very interesting holes. It has a park feel to it. It was a very enjoyable day on a golf course that was in terrific shape!
Beautiful course
This is a beautiful course...maybe the best in Indianapolis! Its also fun to play. If you can hit the ball relatively straight you will be Ok.
Great Course, bugs out of control!
One of the best tracks in Indy area. I have played everything out there in Indy or within an hour of Indy and The Fort is hands down one of my favorites. Course was in great shape. The only thing I can complain about were the bugs were out of control, especially on the back. Made putting very difficult as they were constantly in your eyes and around your face. Not sure if the course can do anything about this, probably more of a product of early summer in IN.
Put this on your MUST PLAY list
This was my first time at the Fort golf course. The course was in great condition. We played right after a morning scramble so it was wide open in front of us. The course plays tough. The rough area is small and sometimes overgrown. So, you will pay dearly for any mistakes. If I play this course again, I would back off from driver on many of the holes. Definitely a course for course management. Thanks to the gentleman in the pro shop for missing my Pete Dye card and stamping the back of my hand. Ha. Nice to meet a friendly staff instead of stiff shirts.
GREAT GOLF COURSE
Fantastic layout and staff.
Brad Fellers is the best teacher around.
Great Track, Lots of Fun
This is easily the best course in Indianapolis. I played on in the afternoon on Memorial day. This means the course saw heavy traffic for 2 and a half days before I got on and the course was still in great shape. The course is challenging, there are several holes with forced carries, and the rough is thick. Additionally, many holes will leave you shooting to targets that are either below or elevated from where you are shooting so club selection is critical. There are some relatively easy holes too that can give you a false sense of ease. My only criticisim is with the yardage. I like to play roughly 6500 and there really isn't too much of an option for that. You're either short 6,200 yards from the white tees or long 6,800 yards from the blue. For someone who is a mid to low 'capper or someone who really wants a challenge this course is a must.
Very nice,, Challenging, Slow
The group in front of us was allowed to tee off 15 minutes late. They got slower and slower. No ranger in sight. Three of the goups that were playing behind us quit. Besides that, a very challenging course, in excellent shape. I guess I would say play during the week, but definitely worth the wait.
Early Season Round
The greens were rolling slow. Usually they are pretty quick. Front nine played fast but we ran into a back up on the back nine. Would have been nice to have a ranger out there to speed up play.
Poor course and staff
The course had standing water on fairways and greens. The staff was more worried about collecting money and getting us on the course. Would not offer refund or replay. Would never play there again!
Very disappointed!
Poor conditions and staff
Staff just want to get you on the course and collect their money.
The course had standing water on the fairways and greens.
No refund offered
Waste of time and money.
Great Course
The course is tough but fair. The rough was fairly deep so if your ball ends up there, it's fairly tough to find and really tough to play out of. Greens are fast and firm. Very well maintained.
excellent service
This is a great course and the staff was just excellent. They made our group feel like we were welcome and happy to have us visit and play. Best customer service I've seen at a golf course in quite a while.
Tee time as single
I made this time thru golf now as a single. The tee time they gave me the group had 4 already. If there wasn't a threesome in the time slot before the one I was given and the starter talked them into allowing me to play with them, they said I would have to be worked in. I would not have stayed and waited for that. If they are going to offer the option to book as a single they should have tighter controls.
The course is great and well manicured. Pin spots were on the tough side on ridges and close to edges for the weekend, made for a little longer round due to the time required on the greens. Great piece of property and Dye did a great job of designing it.
