Fort Golf Course Resort
About Fort Golf Course Resort
The Fort Golf Course Resort was created in 1996 from Fort Benjamin Harrison, once a key U.S. Army post. The redeveloped military base has become a popular 1,700-acre state park with hills galore for hikers, bikers and golfers. Owned and operated by the State of Indiana, the 7,148-yard Pete Dye design features tree-lined fairways and Dye’s penchant for tough and interesting holes. The Fort Harrison Inn, a limestone structure built in the 1940s, offers 27 rooms and suites and the Garrison Restaurant. The Harrison House (seven more rooms and suites) and four Officer Homes are also available for overnight stays.Facts

Favorite Indianapolis course
This is my favorite course in Indianapolis. Wooded, hilly golf course with one scenic tee followed by another.
Fort-ified!
This course was in fantastic shape for this time of year. I had not played here for a few years and was quite pleased with the changes. It is very interesting without being impossible. And what a treat to play without hearing road noise.
One of the best tracks!
I absolutely love this course. Always in great shape even right after the winter we have had. During the summer the greens roll true and fast. I look forward to playing The Fort again.
december golf
I have played at the fort before and every time is like the first time. it is by far my favorite course in the state of Indiana. I would like to become a member if I could afford it.
Beautiful scenic course
I haven't played this course in 2 years and it looks like the superintendent has it back in GREAT shape. If you haven't played this course you should. It is one of the Indy 's best courses!
Challenging yet playable
Played late in the season and yet it was quite clear that the course is still being well cared for. Enjoyed my round. Almost no water on course and fairways are reasonably wide enough to hit. A lot of traps protect frequently elevated greens. Greens run quite true. In summary, certainly worth the discounted price I paid through GolNow.
Paradise
I thoroughly enjoyed myself golfing at the fort. The course has a variety of fairway challenges. There are no lack of elevations, bunkers, trees and even some water. The greens, fairways, tees were immaculate. It is a must for all who golf. With the Golf Now rates it is a gift to play here. If you have never golfed at the Fort you are missing a great experience.
Beautiful course. Challenging. Well maintained. No houses. Wide tree lined fairways will hilly slopes and typical Pete Dye greens. A must play course.
Very nice course. Well maintained. Beautiful tree lined fairways. Somewhat hilly. Fun to play. Good rates on Golf Now for this course.
Prettiest public course in Indianapolis
The course was in great shape! The greens were playable and the fairways were also very well groomed. Great setting! Hard to believe it is so close to the city and interstate, very secluded.
NOT IN VERY GOOD SHAPE
HAD TO GO BACK TO VEHICLE FOR WALLET.COUNTER PEOPLE WHERE JERKS ,ASKED FOR ID BEFORE THEY WOULD EXCEPT RESERVATION PAPERWORK,NEVER HAVE BEEN ASKED BEFORE,AND HAVE USED GOLFNOW AT OVER 20 COURSES,COURSE HAD BEEN AIRIFIED BUT NOT TOP DRESSED 3 FOOTERS WHERE A GUESS,NO GPS
Great Pete Dye design
Played The Fort on October 8, 2013. It had rained the days before so the course was super soft. The course had a state park feel to it and lucky for Indy it was designed by a master. What a deal. $45 on golf now, can't beat that, course is worth much more. Drove an hour and a half to get there but will definitely make that drive again.
great layout and a challenge
Only negative is people do not fix ball marks. Also tall grass in bunkers on 15 unnecessary
best around
easily one of the best golf courses around. for as much play as the course gets it was in excellent shape. greens fantastic, fairways great. fun to play and beautiful scenery. when we were teeing off of #13 we had a baby deer about 25ft away and it didn't bat an eye.
Beautiful terrain...
Great golf course, however was very disappointed in the condition of the greens. Would not pay regular price for this course in its current condition. There are city courses with greens in better condition...
Good condition
The greens are nice and much better than last year. Good pace at 9 or 10 on stimpmeter but not too fast. Fairways are a bit soggy in low spots but otherwise good.
The Fort is the Fort, which is good.
The Fort is one of the more unique courses around.....long, no houses, lots of hills and a real "old feel." Course looks tougher than it is if you're not greedy .... But I'm here to 'play golf' so I'm in trouble a lot. Holes 5, 6 and 18 are my favorite. Some of the greens were a little chewed, but it's a municipal for crying out loud, so it's more than acceptable. If you haven't played the Fort, you've missed a real gem.
Superb golf course, Outstanding staff
This is a magnificent golf course. The layout is beautiful as with most Pete Dye courses. Fast, true greens. Excellent practice areas. The Fort is probably the best public course I have ever played. I played on a Monday which was a discout day but the full rate is still a bargain.
Excellent condition, tough.
This was our 3rd time to play The Fort, probably in the best condition we've seen. The greens were very fast, and the course is tough if you don't hit it straight, like me. When out on the course it doesn't seem like Indianapolis.
Course conditions
It was my first time playing "The Fort" and I thoroughly enjoyed the track. It had a great layout, but the green were not in very good shape. The greens had a lot of ball marks, which made it rough for putting. The fairways were in great shape, but the sand traps were very hard, clay base. I will definitely be back to play it again.
Must play for for the right price.
A little slow on some holes probably due to holiday. Always enjoy playing here when possible.
