Fort Golf Course Resort
About Fort Golf Course Resort
The Fort Golf Course Resort was created in 1996 from Fort Benjamin Harrison, once a key U.S. Army post. The redeveloped military base has become a popular 1,700-acre state park with hills galore for hikers, bikers and golfers. Owned and operated by the State of Indiana, the 7,148-yard Pete Dye design features tree-lined fairways and Dye’s penchant for tough and interesting holes. The Fort Harrison Inn, a limestone structure built in the 1940s, offers 27 rooms and suites and the Garrison Restaurant. The Harrison House (seven more rooms and suites) and four Officer Homes are also available for overnight stays.Facts

Great place to play in Indy
The Fort golf course was in great shape. The pace of play was steady and we did not feel rushed or slowed down. We were even able to get on the course before our tee time. The staff was nice and helpful. The only complaint is the lack of restroom facilities on the course. Overall, I would recommend playing this course to anyone that is in the Indy area.
Great Course
The Fort is a great mountainous course in Central Indiana. Greens were in great shape and tee boxes pristine.
Great course and setting
This was the second time I played The Fort and was glad to make it back out. The setting is perfect, right in the middle of a state park with a lot of elevation changes and great tree lined holes. Course was in good condition, fairways and rough were well maintained, greens were just ok. Will play again based on the course design and setting alone.
Very Good Indianapolis Course
This is one of the best designed courses in Indiana. Tee to green the course is in great shape. The greens were average on the day we played and need some attention. There were many unrepaired ball marks and signs of use.
Great Course in Good Shape
Very challenging the way they had it setup with the long rough. Better not miss the fairway!
The Fort is awesome
You will thoroughly enjoy the lay out. Course is in great shape and you will not find many in Central Indiana that have the undulation like The Fort has. Challenging and fair. Have played several times and have never been disappointed.
Favorite Local Course
When ever possible, I play The Fort. It is pricey at times, but worth it to keep this state park course in great shape. This is one of the best courses in the entire state, tough but fair!
Call course first
You might find that you are better off to call the course first and check time as after buying what I thought was a great price on this site they added an additional $24.48 for charges including tax which I never pay at a course. Found out through the pro it would haved been cheaper to simply call the course and get a tee time.
Great Value
Challenging scenic course could of played a little faster but overall very good.
New 2nd Favorite
This course is absolutely amazing! Pete Dye is an evil golf course designing genius. This has now become my new 2nd favorite course in the Indianapolis area. The hills and elevation changes are great. The course was in tip top shape. I have to say that there was nothing that I did not like about this course. If you haven't played this course yet I highly recommend that you get on it ASAP. You will not be disappointed.
Great layout
The course is in very good condition except for the greens. The Fort always seems to struggle with poiana grass in the greens. Other than, it is in great shape.
Beautiful course
This is destined to be one of my favorite Indiana courses. Beautiful course, well laid out and well maintained. The only problem was the groups ahead of us that were so so slow. This course took me over five hours and the rangers did nothing about it. Great course, fun time...
Good Layout but conditions were not great. In their defense it is early spring and the greens had not recovered from aeration yet.
Pretty solid course but nothing that really wants to make me go back and play again. Could never really figure out speed of the greens. Some were slow, some really quick.
Course Design is Awesome
This Pete Dye course is a great design, very challenging with a lot of uphill shots. The greens were in terrible condition as they seemed to have been aerated recently. There were small mounds of dirt all over the greens that made putting very difficult.
Early Season Round
Cart path only this day and still pretty soggy from the rains early in the week but still good conditions to score well. Rangers were around the course at all times to make sure the course was not driven on to maintain it for upcoming rounds throughout the year. One of the best courses in central Indiana.
Great course!
For the time of year, the course was in great shape. A little annoyed about cart path only because it hadn't rained at all and it was sunny out. But for this time of year, there is no better course in the City.
Early in the year so the course is just now starting to grow in.
We have had a bad spring in Indiana, so the grass is just now starting to grow but they were out working on the course and the greens are already smooth and fast. The course is hilly for central Indiana and the layout challenging. The Fort has several sets of tees so it will be fun for any players skill level.
Most Scenic Course in Indianapolis
In my opinion, this is the best course in Indianapolis and easily one of the best in the state of Indiana. It is a true challenge with some nice elevation changes. Everything was in fabulous condition even with the fact we were in a drought and desperately needed rain. The fairways are mowed tight! The greens are fast and true. Bring your A-game for this challenge and you will enjoy.
Challenging, solid layout
The Fort was a challenging course, with tricky greens. Played with the track aerated (unofrtunately) but the greens rolled fairly true tnd were fast. From the blue tees, the back 9 gets long towards the end and you need to keep the ball straight on certain holes. Great test, but played a little slow on a crowded Monday.....
very fun, beautiful in late fall
great state run jewel of a course with a lot of history & pete dye touch
