Barren River Lake State Resort Park

After completing 9 holes with having to wait nearly every shot/hole we make the turn for 10. There are 3 groups in line. I think people just playing 9 got put in front of us. We played 1 & 2 again before catching a group so we left. 11 holes played.

the course was in good shape a few of the greens had a few bad spots nothing serious had been aeriated recently the fairways and rough was mowed good the bunkers needs some work some gravel in a few and some needing more sand but overall a great place to play

Probably One of my favorite courses I’ve ever played! Course was in great shape, fairways lush, tee boxes full, and greens were slick and fast but held well. The layout is challenging and really not a boring hole anywhere. You have to hit your spots and take what the course gives you, Several woods and long irons off the tee were required. Staff was friendly and pace of play was good. You may want to work on approach shots above and below your feet before playing this course!

I am in very average golfer. This course was not a really long, so in my infinite wisdom I decided to play from the back tees. I still scored well. Course forced me to play well The course can get off to be a very big challenge to me. You have to strategically place that ball or you want it. The view from all the holes is breathtaking. I really recommend this course. Wm. Holt.

The course is tough with narrow fairways, and right now the greens are a little rough in places. I’d play the course again. Very nice for the money. No driving range but they do have a very nice practice green for putting and a net for warming up with. It’s worth playing a round here if you’re thinking of going.

Cool layout with course in pretty good shape. You better be humble and hit some irons off of the tee! Challenging bends with a few driver holes. Fun course!

Greens were the best, but tee boxes and fairways still in winter mode. Due to heavy rain the previous days it was cart path only and many wet spots on the course, mainly on the fairways. Course layout and river views are beautiful. Pro shop staff was very friendly.

the course was in great shape just the little twigs and leaves on the green from the fall of the year they did a great job keeping the leaves removed from the fairway since it's a state park

The course is laid out over a beautiful setting, winding between the lake and woods. Drive control is necessary, little or no lateral bail-out areas. Tee-boxes, fairways and rough are in good shape.

Recent aereation and current grow-out for the greens made them almost un-puttable.. although soft and receptive to approach shots, they were bumpy, shaggy and slow. Down-hill puts would stop 2-3 feet short and breaks were almost unreadable; a putt didn't roll, it hopped.

Bunkers were in need of sand replacement and conditioning; gravel and rocks were sufficiently present to call many of these hazards ground-under-repair.

A single marshal wasn't enough to maintain pace of play; the group in front had 2 walkers and 4 ball-hawkers; they were as much as 3 holes behind the group in front of them and our round took over 5 hours.

I would play this course again only if they roll and mow the greens, not before.

I played this course from the white tees and started on hole #10. Just MUST hit the ball straight, especially on the back nine. There are no bail-out areas. I enjoyed the front nine a bit more because it was more scenic and a little more forgiving.

The bentgrass greens were in great shape, and the fairways were plush with Bermuda grass.

Local knowledge is helpful; number 15 is a strategic par-5 that ate my lunch (don't hit driver off the tee). I look forward to playing this course again.

Stopped off on the way to see the eclipse. I got a discount 3:10 tee time, which was a super value at around $25 with cart included. Course is very nice looking and interesting with a lot of hills, slopes, and water. Not too long, fortunately for me. Greens and fairways were in great shape, tees a little thin. There was no beer cart. Pace of play was quite slow on the front but got a lot better on the back, I think one slow group quit after 9.

The course was in good condition. Pace of play was excellent. Wished they would have had a beverage cart driving around the course but they did not. Other than that we were satisfied with our experience.
