Inexpensive Golf
Played My Old Kentucky Home on Nov. 1, course was in good shape except for some repairs to fairways and traps they ere doing. The round was affordable and for the course very reasonable. Goldnow allows my wife and i as retirees to play golf once a week!! Great deal.
a Kentucky Classic, my old Kentucky home
Returning to the grounds of my youth, the first time over the links in a decade brought back fond memories. The course is as good as ever, though the leaves occasionally made finding your ball difficult (at times, even when on the middle of the green). For less than $20, I couldn't even get into the movie theaters for the price I got here (counting my GF's ticket and popcorn of course). The are a number of distinctive holes. From the links holes #3-#7, the downhill par 3 by the road on the back, and onto the great finishing holes that bring you right by the stage where they perform the Stephen Foster show - included with an hourly bell that goes off in tune with the ole classic 'My Old Kentucky Home', a song known to bring tears to some Kentucky purebreds reminiscing on the landmark First Saturday in May at the nearby Churchill Downs. If you're in town for business, pleasure, family or a mixture of all of the above; My Old Kentucky Home is a hidden gem. Oh, and play from the most back tees. Course plays short.
Where oh where is the next hole?
Great course but poorly marked. We did a lot of searching and guessing.
Unique and beautiful
First time on this course, will be back, nice fairways, greens with elevations, etc. Layout is somewhat confusing, needs better signage as to next tee box, spent too much time looking for out next hole. On the 2nd hole we had pulled the cart up to the green and were politely asked by a staff member to keep it on the cart path. We asked for a handicap flag. He said they don't have handicap flags. My playing partner is a 78 year old, disabled Vietnam U.S. Army veteran, purple heart recipient, retired Sargent Major, a card carrying PGA life time member pro that still enjoys getting out for a round of golf with his friends. But, by the time we finished 18 holes he was totally exhausted because of having to walk so far from the cart to the greens and back again. This is a KY State Resort Park, I would think it would be in the best interest of tourism to be more accommodating to the handicapped visitors and make them feel more welcome. I was totally surprised by this policy. Does it apply to all KY State Park Golf Courses?
Ky Home
Very nice course. Staff was great!
Nice Course
The course was fun and fair to play. The layout was a little confusing to navigate and there were a few errant shots coming through the trees from other tee boxes and fairways.
But overall, i enjoyed the course and will be back to play it again.
Worth the Money
The course was in the best shape in years. Fairways were nice and green. Rough was a little high. The greens were holding shots. Greens were average speed but most were a little bumpy. It is a scenic course with lots of trees. We saw a couple deer grazing the rough on one hole. We will return.
Mowing Desperately Needed Slow Play
Not sure why the arent mowing everyday.. But the bermuda fairways jave thrived in the heat and ball was hard to find in fairways.. Only top half ball exposed. Fairways so thick club would be grabbed hitting right from middle. Not to mention uneven mowing.. One stripe high, other low..Tee boxes are in extremely poor shape.. Mud, crab grass, uneven.. It doesnt take a magician to know bermuda doesnt thrive in shady conditions. Greens slow.. They havent been mowed in a few days and had crab grass.. There isnt a Marshall who actually does anything.. Round typicall 5 hours.. Course maintenance dept needs to assess what they are doing for $40.00 dont recomend playing here.. Need to switch to zoysia grass.. My advice hit near bunker.. The zoysia is the planted there only and its the titghest lie on the golf course
Very enjoyable course
Loved playing this course! A number of unique holes and nice scenery. The course is not a far drive from Lexington or Louisville....good spot!
Fun day with my nephew.
Good day, rain delay got about a hour but we finished. Greens in great shape!
Picturesque & challenging course
Several blind holes and a lot of clover in the fairways and rough. Hard to find a ball that isn't hit 100% accurate so don't count on not losing a few!
Course is nestled in a very scenic area with a distillery lining one hole and My Old Ky. Home amphitheater on the side of another.
Looking forward to playing here again.
Hidden gem
This course was in excellent and green. Tee boxes could be cut a little lower but in great shape. Great layout. My buddies that I played with said we have to add this course to our top 6 list. Heritage Hill, Cardinal HIll, Persimmon Ridge, Maywood, Old Kentucky Home, and Lincoln Homestead.
Great Service
The guys at the desk were great and very welcoming. A couple of fairways need some work but other than that I enjoyed it.
A good day
Had a good round of golf good pace great weather
Nice course
Very well maintained, will play again
Early season round
The course was in the shape you would expect for this early in season. Fairways dormant, tee boxes spotty but greens we ere in good shape. Good value for price paid but not worth full price. Better than going to driving range.
A Little Gem
Found this course as we were headed to a Whiskey Distillery, but was not on our schedule to play it, as we had 5 courses to play in 6 days. Rain cancel our tee time in Kentucky so we headed down to Tennessee. On our way back to indiana, we looked for a course to play in Kentucky, and "my old kentucky home" came up. What a find!!! The course is in beautiful shape and some of the holes are scenic and challenging. i believe it was holes 15 and 16 in the back. Par 3 and a par 4.....beautiful. The green were in excellent shape. Would recommend it to anyone, specially groups in golf trips. A round of golf, and a trip to whiskey distellery, next door.
great value
great value for the course, with picturesque setting
Nice course especially when you can smell the Bourbon in the air
Really nice course that I haven't played in a few years. Love the setting and scenic holes. There were a few bare spots in the fairways but overall conditions were nice.
Great views throughout entire course
the fairways were in great shape and the putting greens are challenging but rolled very nicely. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great course around $30
Will come back again
