Fun Course
Fun course, the 1st green needs some attention but was a good value if you can play for $40 like we did.
Great course in excellent condition.
Enjoyed the beauty and well the maintained course. I played the white tees and my wife played the red ones, more than 1,000 yards difference between the two. On one hole, a very difficult hole there was 175 yards difference between the red and white tees. My wife obviously enjoyed the much shorter tees.
Several of the holes on this course would be "signature holes" on many courses.
Course is in good shape, especially considering the large amount of rain in the last few weeks. Keep the ball in play, life is good. Stray from the fairway at your own risk!
Had a great time.
bad timing due to rain, otherwise nice course
Its hard to write a true review of the course due the foot of rain they had the week prior making even walking in the fairway a challenge. It was noisy with some kind of machine on at least half the holes , either a tractor or a mower or a utility cart or bobcat buzzing by but again that could have been due to the maintenance crew trying to get things back in order after the rain. Had it been dry I would have enjoyed the course a bit more Im sure. Several holes were nice with elevation changes and water, scenic.
Great scenery.
Beautiful elevation challenges. We felt like it was a course that should be on PGA tour.
beautiful course!
the course was in beautiful condition the staff was friendly only problem I had with the directions now prompt on the golf now app took me to a marina 30 miles away from the actual course. but the app does provide a phone number we called and we were given correct directions.
Not what I remember
Course used to be very nice - Not in good shape anymore
This course had some challenging holes.
It would be nice to try it again now that we know what to expect on the holes!
Course wasn't manicured well, water leaks everywhere.
We thought this course would be the highlight of our golf trip and were we wrong. Course starter said there were a few leaks on course. There were numerous water leaks on every hole. The fairways were soggy while other areas were bone dry. Course needed to be mowed and some of the sand bunkers were growing weeds and tree seedlings. Play was slow. I wouldn't recommend this course to any serious golfer. Better courses available that would be a lot more enjoyable. Thank goodness for the nice cart gals who came around ofter!
A course with character
Course has a lot of character where strategy beats length. Leave driver in the bag on most holes because there are several 200 yard shots to get to 100-150 yard approaches. Par 3's have some great views. A few fairways could use some TLC as the Bermuda grass was a little long. Overall, my wife and I enjoyed the course.
Great course to play!
From the greeting at the front door to the sign up to play at the front desk to the handling and cleaning of the clubs after we were finished was excellent. All of the workers at The Oaks were friendly and helpful. The course was in excellent shape and played with difficulty to test our skills. We had an excellent time and will come back often.
Traditional course with fair amount of elevation changes.
The course was in very good condition, except for a few wet spots due to the recent rains. Greens were smooth, and rolled very true. If the carts had GPS in them, this course would play a lot faster, since it is often hard to tell the distance to the greens.
scenic views
We have golfed about every course in Ozarks and this ranks the best for value and scenic holes. We liked it so much we golfed there twice in a row. Staff was very kind and polite and made you feel you were on a private ccourse by the putting clubs on cart and cleaning them when we were finished. Highly recommend this gem.
Tough but fair
Played three times in two weeks found it well maintained and a great day of golf. Compared to the Ridge at Lake of The Four Seasons the Oaks at Tan Tar far better and much better cared for. I'll play again.
Not good conditions
While the greens were in decent condition, the fairways and rough were very poor. Nothing but dirt in some areas. The grass in the fairways was not cut consistently and clumps of dead grass clipping on many of the fairways.
Beautiful views
Challenging course with tree lined fairways and a number of stunning elevated tee boxes. Provides great views at times. Be ready to hit them straight!
Save your money!
This course needs help! With all of the rain that we have recieved in Mid-Missouri, one would think that this golf course would be in ideal condition; however, that is not the case. It seems like this course has been neglected. The fairways were the worst I've ever seen. It appeared that several of the tee boxes haven't been mowed in weeks. The only good part about playing this course was seeing it it the rear view mirrow. Save your money and play a course that management cares about. $20 is too much to pay for this course with a cart.
Disappointing. Unmanicured, greens / fairways not mowed
Had we not gotten a great discount using golfnow.com we would have demanded our money back. This was once a premiere course. Not any longer. I have played here many times in past but since last fall the course has gone down hill drastically. Tee Box's and Greens were not mowed, could not tell difference between fairways and rough. No mention of the course being under repair. We won't be back.
Challenging, picturesque, well-kept
Unfortunately, the night before we played the area had several inches of water and it was cart path only. This did slow our play due to me hitting the ball consistently far away from the cart path. But my wife and I did enjoy the course.
Good course, especially for the deal I found on golfnow.com
The course has several different hole set ups that tailor to any skill level. Great scenery!
