Arroyo
Some greens not rolled. A lot of bumps. A lot of divots on greens. A lot of bird poo on fairways and greens
Poor pace
Course is in good shape but if you can’t play at decent pace, it means nothing. No starter or Marshall.
5 plus hours
2 medium sized groups slowed the pace to a crawl with no marshall to help or pass along messages to the groups stuck behind.
Shouldn’t be at this quality of course
multiple holes are far apart. would not be a walkers course. the signage to get from place to place was not as good as should be. We had to turn around at least three times.
8 minute tee time intervals
The course is beautiful, with great views of Red Rock Canyon and mountain views on many holes. The course itself was not long, was a driver/wedge course. The gold tees were not out there so the tips were only 6433.
The course is in great condition - tons of rough throughout that punishes you if you miss the fairways. The greens were slow but smooth. Bunkers had a small amount of sand but you weren't hitting off rocks or dirt. Decent width on fairways with banks on a few holes in case you missed.
This is the only course I've played in Vegas that had water stations on it. It's also the only course that had large screen GPS with distance off all tees. The course also had little to no restrictions on where you could take the carts.
Where this course misses the mark is the layout and the pace of play. There are no doglegs on the course. There are no water hazards on the course outside of a par 3 where the hazard is behind the green and not even visible. The only real strategy that ever comes into play is if you want to go for the green in 2 on a par 5, or lay up and chip on. While there's beautiful views, it's still a neighborhood course, where you're driving through the subdivision to get from hole to hole. Every hole is lined by homes.
Tee times are spaced out every 8 minutes so groups get stacked up on all the Par 3's and you finish in 5 hours, with constant alerts from the cart GPS that you're behind pace because it's hilariously programmed at a 4.0-4.5 hour pace. But since you're sitting at the tee box doing nothing, why not pay for an overpriced drink? And who doesn't want to be harassed on the golf course to donate to cancer/children/whatever while they're hitting tee shots?
Poor condition from tee to green. Lazy ground crew and no pride in their work. Horrible layout with detached holes poorly marked. Wonderful cart girls though.
Pace of play deal killer
Pace of play was 5 and 1/2 hours for 15 holes. The big problem was starting on hole 7 a short par 3 and it was piled up from the get go. The starter said they were losing at least 2 minutes a group putting things farther and farther behind. Very bad idea someone had. I payed premium price and only got 15 holes not cool. If we would of started on hole 1 or 10 would of went smoother. Need to axe the par 3 start as everyone knows you have to finish the hole out before another group can tee off, or on them days have tee times 15 to 16 minutes apart. You have to be smart about it not just money hungry and who cares about us visitors you already charge us much more than residents. Everyone pays the same in our state. If your going play at 12:30 only charge for a 9 hole rate. Yes, I will be back I always say could of been just one of those days.
Who designed this?
Course wanders all over the place thru homes. Starts on hole 7. Conditions were ok but just don’t care for the vast, chopped up layout. Visitors are segregated from members, too.
Marshland
Mud everywhere. Impossible to avoid on most holes. Duck pond was so foul smelling we skipped the teebox. They stopped taking AMEX… not going back. TPC is better. Paiute is cheaper.
Fun Course Great Views
Pace of play was slow, but it was a Saturday, and there was a frost delay in the AM. Overall, the course conditions were good and the views were unbelievable. I would play here again for sure.
Waited 36 mins at one hole.
I absolutely have quality patience you have to, to play golf. However there clearly wasn’t any thought given to pace of play. Whether that be with the amount of people booked, or the Marshall not enforcing pace of play well enough. If I start playing at 1:30 pm I should be able to finish my round. However I only got 15 holes because of darkness. Crazy to pay triple digits and not finish the round.
Amazing course
Fairway and green in excellent condition, good price-performance ratio
Overpriced, overrated
6 hour round, course is under repair for 200 dollars
Overrated, over priced
6hour round on a course that is under repair for 200 dollars
