At Red Rock Country Club, Arnold Palmer has created an escape from desert golf with a lush green course that forces golfers to think over their shots. As you're thinking, a waterfall could be crashing in the background. There are actually two Palmer courses here, but only The Arroyo is open for public play.

It measures in at 6,883 yards from the back tees and uses dramatic bunkering to set off its holes. The par 4s are particularly inventive, especially the 432-yard 4th. The par-3 seventh gives you great views of The Strip in the distance. The greens consistently run 10-11 on the Stimpmeter and the fairways are designed to funnel shots that are not overly wild back into decent lies.

"The Arroyo Course is what it is -- a playable course with stunning scenery and a smattering of decent golf holes," former TravelGolf.com writer Shane Sharp said. "It won't provide as memorable a round as Sin City's big-name resort courses, but the price is relative. If you're looking for a course to include in your annual Vegas rotation, Arroyo would be a nice addition, considering its conditioning and scenery."

Don’t Bother

Normally, I don’t leave reviews on golf courses, but I felt like I had to for this one. This is not the first time I’ve played this course as a local in the Las Vegas area. First off, let me say that all of the employees at the course were extremely friendly and that was a positive. The course itself is a good track. However, a lot of the greens had pitch marks that were not fixed either by the players or by the course maintenance crew. The sand bunkers cannot be called sand bunkers they’re more like dirt bunkers they are not in good shape at all. The most disturbing thing was the pace of play. They start you out on hole seven because according to staff it will save you about 30 minutes for the round. We waited on every hole whereby there was multiple foursomes, waiting to tee off with another one in the fairway and possibly another one on the green. By far the worst experience I’ve ever had as far as pace of play. It got so bad that I decided once we finished number 18 not to play the last six holes. The group behind us decided to leave a few holes before I did. Overall paying $75 for a 2 o’clock tee time, which is basically twilight here in Las Vegas is not worth the overall conditions and pace of play for this course. There are better options in the Vegas area to play.

Pace of play and tee boxes

The good: Really fun course to play. The layout is good with fairways, rough, and greens in good shape.

The bad: They had us start on #7, no clue why. Even the scorecard is that way. The tee boxes are awful. Dormant grass if there is any grass. Par 3 tee boxes are just dirt.

Rough shape

Unfortunately right now the greens are a mess and the roughs are super thick you really need to stay right on the fairway. Tee boxes and fairways seem to be in ok shape. Price is a little expensive for the course conditions.

Friendly staff. Terrible course condition. No Clubhouse at 9

The staff is very friendly. The little restaurant/ bar is nice. The course is in horrible condition. The greens are full of pivots. Tee boxes are all brown. There is no club house at hole 9. Worth more like $29 a round. This course could be good with care. Right now it couldn't get much worse. Worse than munis

I am writing to share feedback regarding our recent round. We experienced a one-hour frost delay, which I understand can happen and is sometimes unavoidable. However, advance communication via email or text would have been greatly appreciated.

We arrived an hour early for our tee time, only to learn upon arrival that the frost delay meant we were actually two hours early. Given that it took us approximately 45 minutes to travel to the course, by the time we teed off it had been nearly three hours since we left our hotel. Had we been notified of the delay in advance, we would have preferred to wait that additional hour at our hotel rather than in the clubhouse.

Unfortunately, the delay also resulted in us missing the final three holes of our round, which was disappointing and impacted our overall experience. When you golf at Arroyo, I guess you're just a number.

Strange course layout but great conditions and views

Loved the course. Winter conditions, fairways and rough great. Tee boxes were not overseeded, they should be. Strange layout of course has green to next tee distances so.es hundreds of yards apart. I'd play it again. I have pictures but can't upload

Nice track.

Really liked your golf course. Had a great time there. Took 5 hours mostly because the rough was 4 inches high. So no matter what someone was looking for a golf ball in your group in that s@#t. The starter at hole #1 started yelling at me because I couldn't follow the arrows on the road. It's 1/2 mile to the first hole sorry buckwheat. Played last few holes in darkness. I'd play it again now I know the layout.

Good condition-not much else

Too bad about the routing of this course because it was in good condition and had nice holes.

However-starting with the annoying starter this placed soured fast.--Starting on a par 3-Ghin,scorecard and my groups scorecard (28) all didnt match handicaps or distances-

Unreal routing of holes-absurd

Im sure course will soon be housing for the so-so looking private course

-This all lead to an incredible slow round

Our group wont be back
