Huge Double Green Photo submitted by silkman111 on 11/11/2012
Good course for the area
Good course for the area. Greens were not in great shape due to aerating a week prior. Fun layout.
Needs more time
Some bad crab grass and fungus issues on fairways and greens. Course is manicured well, the staff is amazing, but unfortunately the 2 years of minimal maintenance has caused some lasting issues with the grass. It’s no fault of the new owners, they just need more time to get it back to prime condition. I’ll be back often when they do.
4/15/23
Everything was good except the greens were aerated so difficulty putting. I'll give them a pass on that. Great layout.
Wind
This course is always challenging, especially with the wind. Course will be air rated this week
Great track
Plenty of challenging holes to keep you engaged. Friendly staff make sure you have a good day.
Nice day
Course was in very good shape and pace of play was fine. Challenging but fun. Used to place course when it was Sea Oaks and always enjoyed it
LBI Newbie
The course was in decent shape. The staff there was very friendly and accommodating. Played with a friend and we both enjoyed the course. The course could use a little TLC, but it is still early in the season, so I expect when May and June comes around, the course should be in better shape. I will be coming back to LBI National in the near future, but when I come back, i hope to bring more of my friends.
Winter Rates Makes Great Golf Affordable
Honestly this was the most challenging course I have played as far as distance goes. We got paired up with two members who were a lovely couple. They had great insight to the course and just were having a fun afternoon. As a Blue Collar golfer getting the White Glove Treatment was something new to me. I felt welcomed and appreciated the whole time. I definitely look forward to coming back. This course is about an hour away from where I live but worth the drive to feel like a mini in state vacation. See you on the tee box!
Mediocre
I played here last fall. I thought then, considering the course was recently re-opened it was expensive for the condition of the course. I tried it again based on the reviews which said that it was being well maintained. I don't see it. Even though it's late March, I saw no evidence that the course, other than the greens had much maintenance at all. Fairways were pretty beat up, roughs were spotty, bunkers were beat up. I didn't see any evidence where anything was seeded, aerated, raked. Frankly, for 90 bucks in Match it isn't worth it. I doubt I'd play there again and if I do, I will not pay $125 on a weekend.
Good day: Cold , windy & wet.
There wasn’t a ton of play and Starter allowed me to go out as a single so I could work on different aspects of my game. That alone made the day worth it.
It’s technically still winter and the course is in pretty good shape for being dormant. Some spots are very damp/wet and I lost a couple of balls on good shots that I assume plugged. That being said, it’s winter and the turf conditions are a bit inconsistent. Being wet and windy, the course played long & it was difficult to consistently compress the ball. The greens were good for end winter. Can’t wait to putt them in the late spring/summer months.
Anyhow , for being closed for a long period of time, the new ownership is bringing this course back nicely. It’s worth a visit.
Final Golf Lesson from a Art (golf pro).
I started "playing" golf 5 months ago. I immediately connected with Art at the LBI National Golf Course (Note: prior to my first lesson I tried to smack a golf ball on a driving range 15 years ago...that is the extent of my golfing experience). Art started with the basics and gradually introduced me to the game of golf. I would like to say thanks for Art because I am now the stage where I feel confident enough to go out on a course and give it my best. During my final lesson, Art introduced me to the course at LBI (absolutely beautiful), we practised all phases of the game and worked our way through choosing the right club based on the distance and the position of the ball. A wonderful end to a series of educational visits to the course. Thanks Art, I really appreciate your patience and your vast knowledge of the game.
LBI National 2-15-23 Good for winter golf
Course was in ok shape considering the lack of maintenance over the last 3 years.
The new owners are renovating everything and the course conditions will improve in the spring.
It has a great routing!
