Decent course for a Hot Deal
Nice course, friendly staff. We were stuck behind a slow group, which had a ripple effect of 1) us waiting, and 2) the group behind us hitting into us on a few blind shots. Course was in decent shape (bunkers were gravelly more than sandy, greens were slower than they appeared). Course lay out is target-golf, with fairway bunkers and well protected greens.
sea oaks
The course was in good shape and it is always a pleasant experience. The only drawback was that the greens were very slow, but it was a nice day.
Very Good Course
Usually a very nice course, but it rained earlier and the course was soaked in the fairways and bunkers. In fact the bunkers very unplayable. i'm going to give them a mulligan because the course is usually great.
Very good overall but greens could have been better
Very good overall but greens could have been better. Bumpy, slow and a little uneven. Before round pro said greens keepers had grown grass up in a little in early summer anticipating a hot July and August but that temperatures had been moderate. I am guessing there is a reason they decided not to cut grass down in July. Wish they would have. A little expensive for how the course was maintained but again not terrible. Good course and very nice staff.
Overall great course, all Types of holes
Played in rain and wind . Cart path only, good decision by course, fairways were soaked. We are all looking forward to going back under better conditions . Expect it to be great. Staff all around was wonderful
Love the layout, BUT!
Always loved this course, but lately course conditions have been getting gradually wore oven the last couple years. Greens were very slow and bumpy. Pace of play was very slow with no ranger in site
Course was fair....staff was non existent
Played this course for the first time and the last time. My friend and I had heard good things about this course and we were anxious to play. Upon arriving at the bag drop there was no one to greet us or take our bags. After signing in at the clubhouse we went back outside to find our clubs still on the rack and still no one to load them on a cart. We had to search for help. On the first tee there were two marshals and a starter. That was the last time we saw the marshals and we needed them because the group in front of us were extremely slow. The course was ok but not exciting . Should have been called "Sand" Oaks, not Sea Oaks. Sand traps were too abundant and only saw water on one hole. We were not impressed.
Only downside is course gets so much play that groundskeepers have hard time keeping up
Only downside is course gets so much play that groundskeepers have hard time keeping up. Otherwise really like it. Play here a lot when I am down the NJ shore. Great warm up/practice facilities. Really nice, accommodating staff. Attentive halfway house and on-course cart staff. Challenging holes mixed with scorable holes. Overall, well manicured given high volume of play course gets. Pretty fast pace of play. Bring bug spray though. Lots of very aggressive mosquitoes.
A Nice Jersey Shore Course
The course was in good shape. Greens were consistent and rolled well. Course is worth the 50.00 I paid on golf now.
Good layout, fair to poor greens and bunkers
Played the course 2x last week, nice layout, but on both occasions found the greens to be slow and green side bunkers in poor repair. Not a bad outing for the price but a little TLC (and players fixing ball marks and raking traps would go a long way!) by the club would really improve things. Good pace of play and friendly staff.
Beautiful course
Golf carts have gps
Lots of bugs - bring spray
Pristine conditions
Played from black - very challenging
The ranger was excellent
My wife and I arrived about 40 minutes early for a 1030 tee time. The staff asked if we wanted to go early to get in front of some foursomes (we did!). When we got to the 6th hole, the ranger told us we'd be catching up to a very slow foursome by #8, and that he'd have them let us through. AND HE DID! This is somewhat different to our usual experience of rangers avoiding the bottlenecks.
The course was in very good shape considering the previous night's t-storm that caused flooding in many parts of NJ. The front nine has very interesting holes with "dramatic" bunkering in play. On the back nine, the challenges are a little more subtle, but overall, the course is enjoyable (I played from the blues at 6600 and my wife from the forward red tees). A very nice course for women - no lay-ups short of long water hazards. They have GPS in the carts that allows you to see what's ahead as well. Still, we played in 3.5 hours on a Tuesday morning. Not a good course for walking. Still, I was most impressed with the ranger!
nice course
grtime greens a little slow speed them up and you have a winner
Great Course
Course was in great condition. Staff was great and attentive. Definitely worth the money if you are looking for a course around the area.
First Time on Course
First time playing on this course. Beautiful layout with some challenging holes. Would definitely return for another round.
if you get the chance to play on this course, you will not be disappointed.
Too expensive
The cost of this course isn't worth the conditions. The "bunkers" are rock filled. The greens are bumpy and slow.
Great course
Love playing Sea Oaks. Sometimes the play is a bit slow but the conditions make up for it.
Great day to play
Played Saturday at 11:50 AM. Paired up with another single. We played the front 9 in 1 hour, 35 minutes. We didn't have to wait to play until the 13th hole when we caught up to the groups in front of us. Course was in very good condition. The fairways were very short, and most of the lies were tight. The rough is short for the most part. Nice and relatively wide fairways. The greens rolled very well and were relatively fast. I got a hot deal at 6:00 am that morning that allowed me to play for $55 instead of $85.
Worst Staff EVER!!!
Made a Tee time when I got to the course they informed me that they had an outing and I would not be allowed to play. Brian in Pro Shop acted as it was MY FAULT and was rude, belittleing, and uncooperative, even made comments about how much I paid, this is not how one should be treated, golf now was accomadating to the matter, but never did find out whose fault it was.
Always an enjoyable round
The course is a fine layout with very playable holes from a variety of tees.
There is only 1 hole, #17 that is a bit long for an older guy like me, 445 yards, even though I play to a 6, but otherwise, all of the holes are challenging, but fair.
Scenery is nice, especially playing into the green on the 16th hole, a par 5 with water 80% around the green.
