Mountain Creek Resort
About Mountain Creek Resort
Mountain Creek Resort is a four-season destination in Vernon, N.J., just an hour outside of New York City. It features a waterpark; the 27-hole Great Gorge course, which was purchased in 2018; the Treescape Aerial Adventure Park, home to zip-lining, climbing obstacles and rope walks; and a Bike Park of 52 trails that is loaded with jumps and 1,000 feet of vertical drop. The course was part of the old Playboy Club in the 1970s and 1980s, attracting famous names such as Dean Martin and Bob Hope for a game. It’s a beautiful property with wonderful mountain views and elevation changes. Guests can stay in the Appalachian hotel or enjoy more space and privacy in a one- to three-bedroom townhome rental at Black Creek Sanctuary. Both accommodations offer outdoor pool and hot tub facilities.Facts

I like the convenience of a range and why I play there instead of the county courses. I’m disappointed in the new set up.
Nice course packed with golfers
It is too good the weather to pass on playing golf. Golf course is in good condition. It is a little challenge when the somewhat challenged courses are packed with golfers with different level
Great Gorge is GREAT
Guys just a heads up, staff at GG is amazing, course is one of the best values you will ever find in NJ. If you are having issues booking or with the price, it’s all on Golf Now. Golf Now is one of the worst necessary evils of my life. Dealing with their stupid is the bane of my existence but what can we do until a real competitor comes along.
Getting pricy
I've been playing this course for years now.I think it's one of the most scenic courses I've ever played. Always in good shape, people working there are fantastic, and the restaurant/bar is beautiful. Weekend prices are a ridiculous $95!! Not worth that. Especially with the hideous weekend pace of play. Save your money and play during the week! It runs around $53 with cart and the HOT DEALS will only cost you around $25. Overall, I will definitely be back in the future.
Interesting but disappointing
It was my first time here. There was a delay getting out. It seemed like they overbooked things. They had to wait for cars to give out. Then during the brutally hot day there was no beverage cart that came out in the nine holes. So, I left after nine and doubt I will go back.
Well worth the what we paid to play. Course scenic and in great shape. Couple of improvement areas are that the driving range is in serious need of new mats. They are badly chewed up. The cart pats are not in great shape either. Other than that a great venue.
FATHER DAY GOLF
Had a 12:00 tee time, looked very busy when we pulled up. Checked in no problem, was out on the 1st tee by 12:02. Thought is would be a slow day of golf being Fathers day. Round moved nicely. Think due to the 3 9hole courses. We played Lake and Quarry. Both were in good shape (nice courses overall). Cart paths--another story--they are rough, they need to be repaved. Very bumpy. Price is a bit high to play often, but would recommend for a special occasion. Cheaper spots around with same quality.
Great Value
Pretty impressed for the value. However I would not book this course through GolfNow. GolfNow has screwed everything up with their tee times and pricing and made my experience very frustrating. If I was the course manager I would be furious at GolfNow because it is giving the course a bad name based on their mistakes and unfortunately the course will not honor the deals that have been so misleading
Experience
Most greens are small which makes it tough. Golf carts need replacing badly...
Love Great Gorge
This course is always kept in great shape and the staff is all very friendly. They have three nine holes, a putting green and a small driving range. All three nines are fun to play and are all very different from each other. This course charges $10-$20 less than surrounding courses also. The only bad thing I can say is the road going to the parking lot is horrible. lol Its like driving on a safari. Other than that great course, great food/bar, great staff. (Especially Emil! He is always very helpful with getting you out on the course when its busy.
A need of investment
The old Playboy club still stands next to the course. Played the Lake and the Quarry. Lake was extremely wet despite not having rained. That side also needed work on tee boxes, 2 were very uneven. Quarry was a fun side. Greens were brutal in speed and didn't hold any shots. Putting was a brutal undertaking. They need to redo the cart paths. A little love and $ would make this a gem. Staff was great! Pro Shop was underwhelming.
RJO REVIEW
Love the track, a bit too wet after so much rain. Greens are great, true, and fast. Not for the meek.
