About Mountain Creek Resort
Mountain Creek Resort is a four-season destination in Vernon, N.J., just an hour outside of New York City. It features a waterpark; the 27-hole Great Gorge course, which was purchased in 2018; the Treescape Aerial Adventure Park, home to zip-lining, climbing obstacles and rope walks; and a Bike Park of 52 trails that is loaded with jumps and 1,000 feet of vertical drop. The course was part of the old Playboy Club in the 1970s and 1980s, attracting famous names such as Dean Martin and Bob Hope for a game. It’s a beautiful property with wonderful mountain views and elevation changes. Guests can stay in the Appalachian hotel or enjoy more space and privacy in a one- to three-bedroom townhome rental at Black Creek Sanctuary. Both accommodations offer outdoor pool and hot tub facilities.Facts

Great Gorge - Not A Bad Value
Course was well manicured. We showed up at 6:30am for our 7am tee time. However course staff showed up at 7:15am which led to initial confusion as there were multiple people awaiting multiple tee times by the time the staff arrived. In addition, members arrived without a tee time and were given golf carts before anyone who had a tee time. Then tee time after mine received their golf carts before me and were allowed to tee off before me. Needless to say it was cluster and mess to start but course itself was well manicured. However the sour taste left by the start of my round will have me think twice before booking this course again.

Open fairways and consistent greens
Tough for any first timer getting around but after that it’s a breeze to get through the course. Only wish they would allow you to pick which to to play.

Terrific Starter
The Starter helped us tremendously. One of our foursome got stuck in a traffic delay and was half an hour late. The Starter handled this professionally and pleasantly, and our round was saved. (I don’t know the Starter’s name. He wore a University of South Carolina logo on his shirt, since his son went to school there.)
