Slow
Although we enjoyed playing LBI national pace of play was awful! 5:15 to play 18 is inexcusable. Also the fungus on the greens must be rectified.
Nice layout, conditions only ok
The owners also run Vineyard National, which I liked. For over $100 even for a hot deal tee time at LBI, I was not happy to find multiple patchy greens and the fairways near the greens being torn up with deep divots. However, the layout of the course is fun, and the cocktails from the bev cart were good. For the money though, there are better courses available further south near AC and I likely won’t be coming back here anytime too soon.
Enjoyable round. It would be nice if there additional yardage markers like on sprinkler heads.
LBI NATIONAL IS A MUST PLAY
This course has it ALL!
•Elevation
•tough but scorable par 5s
•long and short par 4s
•tough but fair par 3s
•great conditions
•fast greens
•5 sets of tees
Don’t miss out on this track!!
Issue with the greens and surrounding areas
It’s great that the course is so close to LBI, but something happened to the greens and surrounding areas. They were not in good shape. Not sure if it was a fungus or something else but difficult to justify the current price in that condition.
Great course; Great welcoming committee
We vacation at the Shore and play 8 rounds in 2 weeks. LBI has certainly earned the “must play list”. 1st class accommodations as you pull up to course. Bag attendants get bags from car and get you ready for your round. Course is in pristine shape. Tees, fairways, bunkers and greens and great shape. Challenging design with 5 sets of tees. Played on a Friday afternoon in 4 hours. LBI is a 35 minute drive from Ocean City. Value is acceptable with a Hot Deal. Paid $79 for a 3:00 tee time. $179 a bit too steep for my pockets.
Rainout
We only played 5 holes due to thunderstorms. Golf Now only gave us a partial credit not a full refund which I expected.
Poor greens
I have always liked this course. The layout is great and it is a challenging but forgiving course. I was very disappointed in the conditions of the greens. Many black spots and bare spots forced them to put in unusual pin placements. Lots of bare spots in the fairways as well.
Good pace of play, 4:10 for 18 holes with a 1 pm tee time.
Friendly and helpful cart girl came around several times as well as Rangers carrying coolers of cold water on this very hot day.
Something happened to the greens and areas around the greens
I have enjoyed playing this course multiple times and like its proximity to LBI. Last year the course was in great shape. This year it’s in really rough condition. Not sure if something specific happened but the greens had areas of very large black patches and around the greens was bare and rough as well. Could be a fungus issue or something like that but at the price point it would have been good to know in advance the course was having some condition issues.
Ominous skies
This is a nice playable course, it has some character and uniqueness to it, always enjoyable to play. The skies all around the course were dark and ominous but it never rained near it.
