We have played at Beau Rivage a several times since we moved here 11 years ago. Less and less because it is just not a good experience anymore. My family came in to play from KC, MO and we wanted to have a nice day at a decent golf course.
We easily spent $200 for green fees that are too high for the shape of the course right now and a few beers before we teed off. We don't mind that if it is worth it but the course was just OK and when there was no one around us while we were playing we were told to speed up play. So someone in the clubhouse is looking at a computer deciding how fast people are playing when they have no clue about what is going on regarding play on the course?
I tried this course one more time after being accused of going too slow when we weren't a few years ago but I just cannot go back or recommend the course.
I don't get your philosophy regarding golf. Manners are key...not speed.
Too expensive for a very frustrating round of golf.
BTW, one of my friends was the #1 womens collegiate golfer back in the day and consistently shoots in the low 80's. We were told about 5 years ago that we were going too slow and she didn't like that and hasn't been back. If you want to be private or men only, good luck.
Greens Under Repair -- Might Want to Wait a Bit
Have always liked playing Beau Rivage, but the course is trying to repair dead spots on several of their greens and in some fairways right now. I paid a local rate of $49 after 12 noon on a Friday, but they should have offered a small discount because of the "under repair" conditions of the greens. At least they are taking measures to get the greens back up to snuff, but it might take a while. Putting on several greens was impossible. It's not all of their greens were horrible (like many of the lower Brunswick County courses), but it was enough to make the round disappointing. I'll be back when the conditions are better.
Nice Track - worth playing
Nice track that is worth playing. Tee boxes could be in better shape, but fairways were good and most of the greens were great (2-3 had some damage that was under repair). I'd play it again when back in the area.
Nonsensical Design / Diabolical Greens
Played before the fairway grasses had begun to bloom, but the course layout was clear: gimmicky with lots of houses practically in play.
Additionally, why in the world would you have greens at a course in a high tourist zone with a stunt meter over 12??? Hole positioning on the side of steep grades doesn’t make for an enjoyable experience in vacation.
Lastly, the positioning of the range was also on the side of a grade, having clearly not moved the hitting area in months (so mostly dirt).
For $60 on a weekday in March, NOT a good value.
Too much competition within 20 miles. Doubt I’ll be back.
I'll be back
Played Beau Rivage and stayed at resort on a long weekend getaway. Staff very friendly and helpful. Course in great condition; and layout of course gave you an opportunity to play all types of holes. Dog legs, left and right, scenic par 3's, short and long par 5's. Terrain had enough elevation changes to alter sight lines. Greens were immaculate; rolling perfectly. Rolled smooth and consistent. Will definitely play there again when in the area.
solid track in great shape
2nd time playing BR. Fun course to play with variety of holes and good challenges. Not long but has teeth. Bunkers were a bit suspect with rocks and hard pan in places. Greens were smooth despite showing recent verticutting.
Always on my list when I visit Wilmington.
wonderful day
I have played this course for the past 8 years when visiting my grandchildren and this time the course conditions were spectacular, over seeded fairways, fast immaculate greens and of course the very friendly staff.
again
will be back again next week and over the winter for the 90 day superb special
Nice Place
Great day at this beach course. Weather was perfect and the greens were in excellent shape as we tried to get in a last November round. Staff was very friendly and got off early and kept the pace moving. Pin placements were a bit challenging. Decent price for the course and twilight rates are also great. Overall I would recommend playing here.
played on a windy day
course was presented in a tidy fashion. Greens were fast down hill down wind, otherwise a little chewy. The layout was very interesting. You have all the things that make up a great layout. Long par 3,4 and 5's. Doglegs in both directions. carries over water on a par 4 and par 5 as well as a beautiful par 3.
Great course to play in Wilmington area!
Love this golf course! Never golf path only and great to have GPS on the carts.
Book it!
Loved the place! I didn't stay, just golfed and I will definitely come back! The course was in great shape, greens are perfect, and the carts have GPS. Lots of elevation changes for a coastal course. The two bunkers I hit from were soft. I enjoyed the distance between holes, which at times is pretty far and there is a good amount of water in play but nothing too difficult, unless you chunk it.
Welcoming staff and course
My wife and I played Masonboro on Fri 10-30 and Beau Rivage on Sun 11-1. Very friendly people at BR and the course itself was also friendly. Fairways were fairly wide and receptive, homes/condos didn't seem too close, water does come in play on some holes, greens in fantastic shape. On course bathrooms and water coolers. Some scenic drives in the GPS-equipped carts, not at all a walkers course. Large putting green and smaller chipping area with a nice driving range. Did not try anything at the 19th hole but the crowd watching NFL games seemed quite happy (until the Giants lost)! Will definitely play this course again on our next visit to the beach as we may even stay at the resort!
Great course
great golf course excellent condition, variety of holes and elevation changes make it a fun course although you need to play a few rounds to get to know it. Will play again.
An excellent course
I really liked the layout of this course. Plus it was in great shape. Can't wait to go back again as the greens are tricky and will keep you on your toes. They fooled me a few times. Overall a great day and friendly staff. New golf carts too.
Glad I choose this course out of the ones I had to choose from
Well at first I was not sure what course I should go to while I was down that way on vacation. I ended up deciding on go to this course and boy am I glad that I did. Course was in super shape, carts have GPS in them and are very nice carts too, staff was super, nice putting and chipping greens as well as a nice driving range. Only thing I would advise is don't think about walking this course as there a few holes where there is a good little ride from green of the previous hole to the tee box of the next one. I will even say if I end up down that way again it is going to be really hard to go to another course after visiting this one.
Fantastic Greens that roll true
The course was in great shape. The greens roll true but are very hard. Even with a lot of spin on the approach shot the ball would not back up.... remember this so use a shorter club and let it roll to the pin.
Good Course, God people
Course is tighter and has more blind shots than expected. In good shape and enjoyable to play.
Too long to walk. Holes have long travels between
many of them which is nice.
Great greens and overall condition
Greens were amazing. They rolled true and didn't take long to figure out. The course is challenging from the blue tees. I would not walk the course, there are some long distances between a few holes.
Great
Good course. Stacy was friendly and helpful. Would play it again for sure
