Beau Rivage Golf & Resort

About
Beau Rivage Golf & Resort sits to the south of Wilmington's historic downtown and offers 18 holes of championship golf. Joe Gessner built the golf portion of Beau Rivage Golf & Resort back in 1988, and his work measures 6,709 yards over hills that undulate and valleys, with changing elevations and several sand traps and water hazards to test even the best of golfers. The award-winning golf course's signature hole is its fourth, which plays to 200 yards over water features to a green protected bon three sides by water and sand. After a round of golf, head back for the resort amenities, such as a full bar, grill and lounge with seats on the veranda -- or the pool and tiki bar. Beau Rivage Golf & Resort is known for its stellar golf vacation package deals.

Not an $89 course, but nice
I am local, play here a few times a year and hit a lot of range balls here, the staff (with some exceptions) are not friendly and occasionally rude in general. Don't seem to care if you play or not, just avery poor attitude...nothing major. Course is OK, but there are a LOT of $89 courses that are a much better value. Holes on many greens are cut in from the side (someone in a hurry) making for a lump in front of the hole...greens though are in very good condition otherwise. Fairways are in good condition as well as are Tee boxes. On a 1 - 10 scale, give a solid 6 or soft 7.
Unfriendly staff especially Starter and Check in guy at counter
Never been treated so poorly by staff. Checked in and the guy was really cold and short. I asked him how his morning was going and he replied OK I guess and told me my total. Then we got to the starter and he was even shorter and rude as they come. The cart girl was nice but I tipped her 20 and 10 on 2 occasions of a 30 tab and a 40 tab and didn’t even get a Thank you. Won’t come back to play this course again because of the staff. The course is awry and In the best shape but the staff doesn’t care that you are spending money. All about the members.
fun day at Beau!
first time visit, special coupon invite, played with my son in laws dad. First to discuss is tee selection. I'd love it if more courses offered a hybrid between BLUE and WHITE. BLUE was LONG. It was windy, BLUE was tough at 6527. Problem is that WHITE is too short, at 6064. Find / create a mid point, a hybrid. Tee boxes were in good shape, so were fairways. Grass was pretty plush, in the fairways. Now.....OFF the fairways, was another story. Lots of hardpan / sandy dirt, etc. it was yuck. not sure if this is all year round or just not grown in yet for the season, but off the fairways, it was rough. Finally - greens. they were decent. a little bit bumpy and inconsistent green to green. overall, fun day. Would not want to pay more that $40-$50 here. It could be an $80 course with a little bit of attention paid to some of the mentioned ideas.
Great Course!
Had a fantastic round at Beau Rivage!
Excellent practice facilities, and the course was in great shape! The players definitely kept the course moving, so the marshalls did not have to get into the rounds.. ;)
The course was in ridiculously beautiful condition for this early in the season!
Nice find and a definite "will do again" when I get back to Wrightsville Beach! Check them out!!!
Great course!
First time playing and was concerned as rained 24hrs prior. Other than cart path only, no water or problems on the course! The carts are the most comfortable I’ve sat in and the GPS nice as their are some blind spots. Staff friendly and nice little restaurant to eat lunch after. Would definitely play here again.
We finally put action behind our many discussions of playing golf at Beau Rivage. During our round and since, we kept asking ourselves “why did it take us so long?” Tee box to fairway to green, very good condition. Blind shots from tee box & fairway to greens made it very interesting & fun. Be back soon!
Good Course
This course is a staple in the Carolina Beach area. A good course for a quick weekend round with friends. Nothing too fancy but the course is fun and the fairways are always decent. They also have a nice little bar to get a drink afterwords. Would recommend!!
Nice place!
Well taken care or course, friendly staff, and not overcrowded. Would play again.
Disappointed
Made single tee time for 7:30, only to be told at pro shop singles are not allowed on the course and that I would be fit in with another group. Only due to a great starter, was I able to tee off at 8:10 - as a single. Had to wait on every hole due to 3 4-somes ahead of me (7:40, 7:50, 8:00)
Only played 9, and same starter said to get a 9 hole rain check. He was the most pleasant part of the morning
Way overpriced for conditions
Unfortunately they’re taking advantage of other courses in the area closing...jacking the price up...the course conditions do not warrant any price higher than $40
Good Hospitality but Poor Course Conditions
We were in Wilmington for the weekend from out-of-town and decided to play this course. We were early, and the course was full so we had a great lunch and everyone in the pro shop was very friendly. Overall, the course was un-interesting, and play was SLOW. We waited on every hole. We finally gave up at 12 since we weren't really enjoying this course. It's very unfortunate, since the employees were super friendly. I think this course is just tired.
Tees make a huge difference
I've played from both the white and blue tees on this course very recently. There's a world of difference and about 10 stokes for my game that is. This course has a few holes that will ruin your score if you take them lightly. Chipping and putting skills are a must to break 80. The conditions of the fairways and greens were in excellent shape and a tribute to the superintendent. I will be back for the challenge better my scores on this track no doubt. Sincerely SB
We have played at Beau Rivage a several times since we moved here 11 years ago. Less and less because it is just not a good experience anymore. My family came in to play from KC, MO and we wanted to have a nice day at a decent golf course.
We easily spent $200 for green fees that are too high for the shape of the course right now and a few beers before we teed off. We don't mind that if it is worth it but the course was just OK and when there was no one around us while we were playing we were told to speed up play. So someone in the clubhouse is looking at a computer deciding how fast people are playing when they have no clue about what is going on regarding play on the course?
I tried this course one more time after being accused of going too slow when we weren't a few years ago but I just cannot go back or recommend the course.
I don't get your philosophy regarding golf. Manners are key...not speed.
Too expensive for a very frustrating round of golf.
BTW, one of my friends was the #1 womens collegiate golfer back in the day and consistently shoots in the low 80's. We were told about 5 years ago that we were going too slow and she didn't like that and hasn't been back. If you want to be private or men only, good luck.
