jewel in the mountain
excellent conditions tee to green. back nine mountain golf but fair!.
Beautiful Valley Course, great location
The front nine and back nine were almost polar opposites, the front is flat and straight and the back is on the side of a mountain with sloped greens. But it's beautiful there with a really nice club house and restaurant. Great helpful staff also, would like to see more reasonable rates, the weekend rate is high for us common folk. But overall a great course.
Beautify scenery
Front nine was more friendly then the back nine. We had a great time none the less. Highly recommend this course.
Great mountain layour
The last time I played this course was 30 years ago, and I must say the conditions, layout and beauty are still excellent. Large undulating greens and perfect bent grass fairways provided a great experience. And with GolfNow rate of $30, a great value compared to $79 the course charges. Be prepared for a lot of uphill and downhill shots on the vac nine.. Number 3 is extremely challenging par 4 at 430 yards from the whites. Most enjoyable in a mountain environment. I will be back before the next 30 years!
Excellent Course
Maggie Valley is a jewel. The course was in excellent condition. The front nine is flat and the back nine on the side of the mountain. Knowledge of the greens on the back nine is essential for a good score. Some of the back nine greens have too much undulations. Has great views of the surrounding mountains. Some hidden water hazards on the front nine.
Maggie Valley
Great course in Great condition.
The course offers a great view of teh mountains and streams
The course was in excellent shape. The fairways were in the best shape that I have seen the course in. The greens were good and the bunkers were sandy. The wind was gusty making it difficult to judge the right club to hit on most holes. The course is great for the value and the layout is challenging on the back side.
Awesome Fairways!
The fairways are in excellent condition for this time of year. The greens have recently been punched and are very slow. The layout is great for seniors and beginners. All the staff were very nice. The starter gave us some fancy yardage books. Once the greens catch up to the lush green fairways this course will be one of the better courses in Western North Carolina.. Hard to beat the $18 per person for 18 holes that we paid through Golf Now! Will be back!
Great layout
Course was in great shape except the greens were just punched. Good layout and a lot of fun.
Golf course in good shape from tee to green
The course was in good shape from tee to green. I wish I had know about recent aeration and top dressing with sand....while better than just plugged, the greens were flush with sand leading to erratic and unpredictable putting. Should be good again in 2-3 more weeks.
Good combination
Essentially a flat course for the first nine holes and a mountain course for the back nine. Lots of fun and reasonably good condition for winter.
SLOW DAY
THREE YOUNG GUYS HOVERING AROUND PRO SHOP DESK, NO RANGE ON COURSE, SAW MULTIPLE GROUPS OF FIVE, EXTREMELY SLOW PLAY. SHOULDN'T HAPPEN AT A COURSE OF THIS CALIPER.
Mid-winter round at Maggie Valley
This is the second time I've played the course - both in the off season. Due to mild weather, I was able to get out at the last minute on a Monday. There had been a frost delay, so when I arrived for my 11:30 tee time (alone), there were several groups backed up on the first hole. I asked if it would be possible to start on the back 9 and they were very amenable, just cautioning me to avoid any areas with frost. I didn't encounter any, and the conditions were pretty decent, considering the time of year. Lots of downed branches around, but mostly had been cleared from fairways. Greens were fairly slow, but not in bad shape. As I played by myself, I completed the round in about 3 hours (even after catching up with groups in front). Nice course and interesting layout, particularly on the back 9 which is more hilly and tighter. I'd recommend the course, especially if you can play through golfnow.com at a discount.
Great Place to Play!
I really enjoy playing at this course. It is always well maintained and the views are great. If there is any negative thing I could point out it would be the excessive amount of ducks which leads to a lot of duck droppings on the course. I'm not sure if there is any remedy to this however. Overall this is a great place to play!
A feel good course for sure
This course just showed up on Golf Now,
so even though they were priced higher than
other nice courses I decided to play.
I felt like it was a good value for what I paid.
I hope they get more competitive with the prices
and number of openings on Golf Now.
I will be back in the near future.
Excellent Course
Great course to play at any level of experience. Greens and fairways were in great shape and very well landscaped and the mountain scenery is gorgeous. I would highly recommend this course to others and will put this one on my must play again list.
Ric"s Round at Maggie Valley
Our twosome arrived a half-hour early, and we were sent to the back nine. Not another sole anywhere around us. ...The back nine had plenty of golfers, but there was not a singly delay from hole to hole. The course is moderately difficult, but in "perfect' condition. This good round was topped with courteous course workers and Clubhouse staff... and good weather. We will surely return to this course.
Beautiful in November
Maggie Valley GC is a fantastic value in November. Course is in great shape! Greens are med.fast, especially on the back nine. Local knowledge on the back nine greens is really needed. Above any hole on the greens is almost impossible to stop it. This course is pricey in mid summer, but is an excellent value now. I'll play again soon!
Too dam wet
cousre was in decent shape but just to wet...cart paths only and had to play thru a foursome...as at many courses no one is in charge -just club house counter huggers...
Gem of the Smokies
Great layout. User friendly for all levels but challenging for all levels as well. HUGE greens with plenty of undulations. Spectacular fall vistas and accommodating, friendly staff. A "must play" for Western North Carolina. Good grub at the Pin High grill and cold beer.
