The best Greens I’ve seen in years!
and interesting course thats sorta hard to review, or at least hard write a bad review of.
First the good…
*maybe the best Greens I’ve seen or played in years! When you experience great Bent Grass Greens you’ll understand why a large percentage of PGA Tour Tourneys are played on Bent Grass and grasses other than Bermuda!
*The staff were Great! Simply amazing how personable people can be when you get away from cities and their over-crowded golf courses.
*Nice quiet atmosphere with outstanding scenery!
The less than great…
*Fairway grass not overly plush, and definitely a major adjustment if you always play on Bermuda! Not sure of the grass type but if will definitely affect those who are not tour level ball strikers! Fairways can also be a bit sparse & firm due to this.
*A good bit of grounds work has been, or is currently being done.. Several cart paths have also been removed due to building lot expansion nd course changes!
*If you are use to GPS in Carts… be warned… your going to be mentally & physically worn-out after 18 holes here. A ton of walking to read distances, and a ton of driving your cart 130 yards beyond your ball to get a visual & a distance to the pins!
*Use caution while driving your cart… the are not speed regulated like many high-end GPS carts…A lot of VERY Steep cart paths here where you can easily reach excessive & unsafe speeds! Plus neither cart we used this weekend has decent brakes! Even when parked & brake-locked be mindful when you park & exit your cart on a hill!
As others have noted.. a lot of nice scenery at Olde Beau and despite the aforementioned negatives it still one of my favorite courses of all time (and i’m talking 50 yrs of golf)
Underwhelming
Fairways were overgrown about 40% of course. Greens were pretty good. Very scenic. Course didn't really live up to expectations.
Beautiful course, great fun!
I had an enjoyable time playing this course. Everything was great! Would definitely recommend it to anyone. Weather was cool with a slight breeze.
Maybe bad luck
I’ve read reviews for Old Beau on golfnow, golf pass, yelp, and Instagram. From everything I’ve seen they’re overwhelmingly positive. I’m not sure if we caught it on a bad day but unfortunately we didn’t experience all of the good things that so many people have mentioned. There were multiple fairways that were cut very poorly(especially 18), some tee boxes in rough shape, but by far the biggest issue was pace of play. Our tee time was 10 AM and we didn’t walk off the course until 3:20. This is frankly unacceptable with 10 minute gaps between tee times. There were no Marshalls or starters to talk to in order to get the pace of play sped up. I’m all for having a relaxed feel due to the nature of the course, but combined with the travel to and from Charlotte it turned out to be an 8 hour+ day. Unfortunately will not be returning.
Great course, but played poorly
A wonderful golf course. Lots of uneven lies, great conditions, elevation changes, and views.
Awesome course
One of my favorite courses. Golf course is challenging. Pick the right set of tees and you will have a great game. It is hard to get frustrated with your game with the beautiful scenery and wildlife that you will see as you play. Try it out!
Course
Greens were a little firm & difficult to stop the ball on chip shots inside 60 yards.
This is target golf. The course has great views and is worth the trip just for the location. This is a golf course that would grow on you the more you play it. If you are making the trip to check out the golf just know that the views are great but the golf is average at best.

ha… way nice than ‘average’
Beau is for beautiful
Super fun course. Lotta blind shots, beautiful views, nice challenge.
Great track
Just be prepared for the mountain hills… but a great track in incredible condition
Mountain golf take longer! especially very hilly & steep mountian golf! beautiful scenery to enjoy while waiting too!
