About Sea Trail Resort Villas
The Sea Trail Resort Villas are located north of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and south of Wilmington, N.C. The property sprawls across 2,600 acres and features three championship golf courses. Villas span from one to four bedrooms in size and are equipped with full kitchens, all within 1.5 miles from the barrier island beaches. Indoor and outdoor pools are available to guests at the activity center, which also includes a game room, shuffleboard and more. Units feature a screened-in porch or balcony. Stay-and-play golf packages are available to Sea Trail Golf Club's Rees Jones, Dan Maples and Willard Byrd golf courses. Sea Trail has two clubhouses with driving ranges, putting greens and a PGA-sanctioned learning center.Facts

Great round of golf
Pretty solid course for the money. Overall not a difficult course but fun to play. Staff was great - not much of the snack bar or other food was available when we played or would have been a bit better - but made it work
Challenging but fair
Staff is always great. Course is in good shape overall, although a few tee boxes could stand improvement.

Overall very good golf experience
We were very pleasantly surprised. My son and I are low hcp golfers, who have played some very good courses,, and we really enjoyed the course. The layout and condition were top notch. The facilities were a little dated, the cart paths were rough, and there were no signs for the practice area or putting/chipping green, but those are very minor constructive comments. It was nice that this course allows practice chipping. Some courses no longer allow (I guess those courses have forgotten that they are a golf course! ) The bent greens were thick, healthy, and very consistent in the way they received approach shots and chips/pitches. They were planning to aerate the greens on Monday, the 6th, so you may want to give them a week or so to fill back in. I would definitely play this track again. Hope this is helpful to others.

Needs some tender loving
Staff was fantastic, as was pace of play and the overall layout of the couse. Fairways, well, not good at all. Greens OK. Will be back next year, hopefully fairways have healed by then!

Some good some bad
Greens were in good shape, just hadn’t been cut and were slow. Fairways were ok, but there were some dried out hard pan areas. Tee boxes and bunkers, some were fine and some weren’t. Overall, I enjoyed the round and would play this course again.

Byrd Course
Like the layout. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are in bad shape. No grass on the tee boxes and the greens needed to be cut! One greeting staff at the golf cart area was very rude.

Dead course
The place is all but dead when it comes to service or amenities. Everything is closed except the guy taking your money.
The conditions range from soggy, wet ground to pine trees and pine cones and tree roots everywhere. The fairways and greens are in very good condition but only the center of the fairway. The greens are the slowest I’ve ever played.
If you hit anything to the edge of the fairway it’s probably going to be OB. The boundaries are very close because you’re basically playing in someone’s backyard.
It’s a very punitive course and it’s just not worth the time.
