Fun Day, Beautiful Scenery & Weather
A fun day with beautiful weather & scenery. Fairways had some brown spotting but overall good to be recovering from winter. Greens were in great shape. Pace was good, was not rushed or held up on any holes. Grill was not open but could get ice & drinks. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend this course for a fun day (beginner, intermediate) with several interesting, challenging layouts. Lost quite a few balls!
Needs someTLC on a few holes fun to play
They are working on it
Has Potential
Local conditions must be very dry, which makes turf recovery from winter difficult. Tee boxes were mostly grass-less, fairways turf thin. Suggest more signs directing players to the next hole (12th and beyond) as there are long cart rides in between holes, construction, hard to know where to go if you haven’t played here previously.
Just ok
Slow pace behind every group.
Tee boxes were in awful condition - felt like a beach.
Greens were pretty good even though they had just been aerated.
Putting green was nice. Range was not in good condition and balls were on short supply.
Course overall was just ok- 3-4 holes are about 40-70 yards off a Cliff.
Fun and challenging with amazing views
Played 4-3-23, had an 8:20 tee time. Pro shop employee was very friendly and helpful, he told me there was only one group of members already out but they were speed golfers and I probably wouldn't even see them, and explained the layout. I was by myself and finished in about 3.5 hours, I never caught the group already out or had to wait but with the beautiful views I was in no rush and took almost as many pictures as I did strokes. Greens are still healing up from aerification but should be good in a week or two. A few tees are in need of repair but the Bermuda is still dormant so it'll be another month or so til they start growing and filling in. The first 3 holes are fairly flat but then the fun starts. Be sure to have a range finder with slope adjustment, alot of downhill par 3 that are deceiving otherwise. Hole number 5 was probably the most interesting hole, had to do some math to guess yardage on my second shot with a completely blind shot off a cliff to a green waaaay down below, still made birdie though. As others have said I wouldn't want to play this course when it's wet, some of the switchbacks are pretty steep and I wouldn't want to be slipping and sliding down them. All in all, I really enjoyed my round and would love to play again if I have the chance
Poor value
Waited on every hole. Fairways were full of dirt. Tees were in poor condition. Greens had been punched which is expected, however, cost was much too high for condition of course. Distance between holes was quite a drive. You will get a workout driving carts on this course.
Should be essential to anyone planning a golf trip here
It’s not the tour level course of Sequoyah national but it makes up for it 10 fold with challenging shots and breathtaking views. Number 5 is as unique as a hole can get and even with the shorter distances off the tee it still offers a lot of difficulty working around course.
IT IS WINTER
My reviews reflect it being winter. The course was beautiful and the fairways were in great shape. I would love to see it and play it in the spring/summer
Would Recommend
Fairways are pretty tight but very nice. Greens were in good shape, and the staff was very kind.
Not for the “faint of heart”
The course is beautiful, in the Smokies so surrounded by stunning views. The greens were definitely not in the best shape - sadly, it didn’t appear that very many golfers cared about repairing their divots. This course goes up and down the mountain. The 5th tee was high up and you hit down a fairway to a cliff edge and, from there, hit down to the green. After we teed off, it started to rain pretty hard. We sheltered briefly beside the cart path under cover of some shrubs. When the rain let up, we hit over the edge… that’s when the terrifying part began. The cart paths went steeply downhill with hairpin turns back and forth. Even in early September there were a significant amount of leaves down on the paths. As we started down slowly as we could with my foot on the brake - the rear of the cart skidded around. The carts have automatic brake locks, so it was difficult to control the speed of descent without locking up and skidding. Definitely not for the “faint of heart” ! If I played here again, I’d definitely only come on a day where no rain was forecasted. It was a fun course with some challenging holes. There are no restroom facilities on the course. The pro shop / restaurant was closed by the time we finished (around 5:45 pm).
Fun in the smoky mountains
The views are wonderful. Make sure you have extra golf balls as you will need them. Fairways are narrow and if you miss the fairways no need looking for your ball. The course was in great shape a few greens were under repair but that is expected with the summer heat. Bring your range finder with slope adjustment or you will be off on yardage especially on the par 3. Staff was friendly and informative. Can’t wait to play this course again.
Little Mountain Gem
The views and elevation changes alone are worth visiting at least once. The course is not long and not too difficult if you keep the ball in play - but the greens are small and if you lose shots left or right, best have plenty of balls along. Some of the greens struggle with damage from damp wet conditions, but overall roll smoothly enough.
Great scenic views
First time I played it. Five elevated tees heavily surrounded by thick trees. Views are awesome. Took many pics. I will definitely be back and for the price I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a challenging course.
Smoky Mtn golf
This was my first time playing in the Mtns. so I thoroughly enjoyed the elevation changes at this course. Awesome up and downs. Fairways are narrow so accuracy is key. The course isn't too long. The fairways were in great shape, but the greens had some brown and dirt spots. We had the second tee time of the morning, but it still took us over two hours just to play the front nine. The staff was very friendly, especially explaining the driving between some of the holes. It can be challenging finding the next hole. I would play here again. It is just a bit pricy for me at $70 a person.
I enjoyed it
First the greens are re in nice condition. My only issue were the I repaired ball marks that seem to happen on every course now days. This is a thinking man’s course. There are holes that you can overpower, but most of the time the driver will stay in the bag. The course requires iron precision if you want to score well.
It was hard to find the next hole at times, but there are signs up. You just need to keep your eyes open. The staff explained the layout before I started which also helped a good deal. Very nice staff.
There are no bathrooms other than the clubhouse and no water buckets along the course. Prepare accordingly. I think the price was a little expensive for what it was, but I would play it again if in the area.
Love Mtn golf!
Gem in the Smokies! Love the layout with its scenic ups and downs!
