My Old Home Course
The game play at this golf course is incredibly slow due to the fact that there are no rangers/marshals to keep gameplay moving. The staff at front desk and in restaurant are nice but seem to be stretched too thin. The head owner is an archaic, money grabbing bully while his sons are at the mercy of his hubris and pigheadedness. If you like to play mountain golf come here, but don't become a member here. There are no advantages.
For those of you who don't know, I am an pro (shop) assistant to the Sequoyah National Golf Club, third party to Harrahs Cherokee Casino Resort, owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. I am also a member at SMCC in Whittier NC and I hoped that the owners Mike Cornblum and sons would hear my public plea and address this issue.
Instead, the next time I made a tee time (this past Wednesday) with my neighbor and pastor, I was called into the office and I was asked to remove my review in order play lest I be suspended as a member or banned from the course in general.
If you have ever played this course I would encourage to give your best critique of your experience especially if you had a less than amazing round.

Lovely Smoky Golf Course
What a beautiful place to play. We loved it.
We had only 1 negative experience: twice we lost the way as we did not find the signs for the next hole.
The course was in very good condition ; well maintained.
Smokey mountain
This is a good challenging course if you like elevation changes. The views are wonderful. I don't recommend playing if it is cart path only though.
Condition
This course has no right to call itself a Country Club. Way over priced and resembles a cow pasture. Fairways are horrible, layout is horrible. I understand mountain course and have played my share but this one was absolutely awful. I will not play it again nor will I recommend it to anyone either. $70 is absurd price for this course.
Challenging Mountain Course
The course is challenging, yet very enjoyable. The scenery is beautiful. Great way to forget a bad shot, just look around. If the scenery doesn’t awe you, then you have issue. Haha! I’ve played in different seasons and great year round. If I were a local, I’d join. Go play and enjoy.
Good Course, Very Slow Play
Overall a good experience. Pros: Very friendly staff, challenging but fair course, greens and fairways in very good condition. Cons: some tee boxes had lots of bare spots, others were concrete hard; no restrooms on course (but were warned before we started, very slow play, if the foursome in front of us were any slower they would be moving backwards:; grill was closed so operator could take daughter to college so only snacks available. Bring your rangefinder as distance stakes and sprinkler heads can be very misleading. My Garmin Approach gave accurate readings to center of green but some holes have severe elevation changes. We were fortunate to have a member in our group that provided great course management tips.
Sometimes hard to follow
Good course. Towering Tee shots! Next hole, and how to get to it, sometimes, needs to be clearly, and plentifully, marked.
Inexpensive but poor
Tee boxes, fairways, greens in rough shape. Steep dangerous paths. Several blind holes.
Good layout on back nine
Played in the winter so course was dormant. Four holes closed due to frost. Tee boxes need grass. Need to come back in season to play again.
Fun golf
Small layout some very reachable par 4s and 5s. Some very fun cliff diver holes too! Great scenery.
