Talamore and Mid South Golf Resort

We were camping in Jackson Springs and decided to play a round of golf. Mid South was on the top of the list so we tried her out. Really beautiful course, tee box, fairways and greens in great shape. Six holes of water and large sand bunkers, adding challenge to the course. Highly recommend trying the course! Staff were all super friendly as well!!, On hole five, we had a bald eagle grace us with a flyby, wished I had my phone then, but still just another sight to see!

Course conditions in mid-October were fantastic, greens were in great shape and rolling well, layout was challenging yet fair, 4 hour pace of play, and the staff was extremely friendly. I booked my round through Golf Now and can’t wait to play it again on my next trip through Pinehurst/Southern Pines.

After my round...I realized I had left an iron somewhere on course and when I called the club back, the level of hospitality Bryce offered in returning the club to me was without question the best customer service I’ve ever had. Bryce went out of his way to personally deliver the club back to me (in Charlotte) where he just so happened to be going to a few short days later. My 9-iron is back in my bag and they made a lifetime guest out of me.

Do yourself a favor and experience this great track for yourself.

My thoughts going into Talamore was that it was going to be a “typical” resort course and really not pose any strategic decisions. I thought it would be more flash (the deep pot bunkers) and not as much substance. I was proven wrong very quickly. I started on the back 9 and let me tell you, that is a fun and excellent 9 holes of golf. Every tee shot gives you options, and the greens are intriguing in their slopes and angles. The bunkers are placed in perfect spots for the holes and really come into the decision making.

Since we played the front 9 second, I was already sold on the golf course when we played what I considered to be the weakest stretch of the course. Holes 1, 3, and to an extent 4 give you a very soft opening and not a whole lot of decision making. If I had started on this nine, I would have held to my “typical” resort feel for a bit longer. But that gradually starts to change, and by the 6th hole, the golf course really picks up again I think. 7-9 are a great closing stretch of solid par 4s, each with its own challenge and visual appeal.

The conditions of the course are excellent with very little else to be desired. Being nit picky, maybe a couple tee boxes weren’t cut low enough, and the occasional crab grass patch was found (these didn’t affect play at all and very few in number). Besides that, the fairways were perfect lies every time, the rough was fair, the greens true, and the bunkers perfect.

I really enjoyed my round at Talamore and had a lot of fun. I would have no hesitation playing it again. I suggest you play Talamore if you’re considering it. You will not be disappointed.

What can I say? Lou is a rose among thorns, lol wait that was what he told me? Lol he’s great and so friendly. It’s great to have people love their work and it reflects a great attitude of the club. There are so many choices for golf in the Pinehurst area but we would come back just because of how friendly everyone was to us. Course was in great shape, and interesting lay out. I need to play again to pick some better shots and nail some more of those elevated greens. Greens were tough for me, got the speed down after a few holes but couldn’t get many to drop. Love this course and can’t wait to come back.

Absolutely great round of golf. The layout and shot looks are challenging but not backbreaking. The greens are VERY big - hitting them in regulation is not as important as being in the right spots. Truly loved the course. Only ding was no water coolers and no beverage cart. Have to get what you want before 1st, Halfway and after 18.

It was packed and pace was really slow...over 5 hours...not much help from the rangers but there was not a lot they could do with that many on the course. Course was in pretty good shape. My Team clearly preferred the back 9 layout. I've played courses all over the US and this was not a $130 dollar course.,..at best a $50 dollar course. Understand this was "season" time in Pinehurst but this course was over priced. Would consider playing again but not at the $130 rate.

Excellent "classic" design course amongst the pines. Played in very wet condition(cart path only) but course conditions held up well.

Wonderful day. Would come back and play again any time.

Course was pretty darn awesome!! Tee boxes DEFINITELY needed to be cut down, but could be due to rain over the weekend, but needs a bit of love... definitely would like to come back!!

If you’re playing golf in Pinehurst then Talamore should be on your shortlist. Well maintained fairways and true greens. Lots of interesting holes. Joy to play. Will be back.

Talamore is a sight to behold, greens roll true, and the staff is inviting. Definitely coming back.

The layout is fun and interesting, Greens were in great shape, quick, and true. Overall condition of the course was perfect, even following heavy rains the days before. The staff was wonderful. Dan gave us great advise to tee off on the back 9 and the pro was quite amenable, thereby allowing us to avoid running into the college golfers on the front and ultimately finishing the 18 hole, cart-path only, round in 3 hours. With no OB, the major challenge was dropping our approach shots near, and below, the hole to avoid the dreaded 3-putts, which were, unfortunately, easy to come by. Would definitely play again. Great value.

This is a great course. I was visiting and wanted to play a course in the Pinehurst area. This was definitely the best value of all the courses in the area. I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the course. The staff was great. The starter let me know about the nuances of the course and was extremely helpful. If you are visiting the area and don't want to pay $300 for a round of golf. PLAY TALAMORE!

As others have mentioned - wide fairways/fast greens/many sand traps/water hazards/thick rough. Multiple tees to fit different levels of expertise. Course in good condition. Would play this course again.
