Strong Layiut
First time at the course and I enjoyed the round. There weren’t many players so our pace of play was great. The greens were in outstanding condition, running fast and true. The fairways were a bit thin in places but there was a number of guys out working on the worst areas. The rough was very short and a bit too playable. My guess is rains had an impact on these conditions. The layout was very interesting with a nice variety of challenges. Overall a nice experience.
Enjoyed Talamore
Had a very pleasant experience at Talamore. First time our group had played there. There was some confusion about our booking on GolfNow but the staff were great in making me feel that it is a small problem and we will be playing golf. They looked at my reservation confirmation on my phone and there was never any controversy.
Very crowded day but we still played in 4 hour and 10 minutes. Course condition was good but greens were great. We liked the layout and will definitely return.
TALLLLYYYYYY!!!!
Love this golf course. I particularly enjoy the layout since the re-design removed the excess of sand traps. The greens ran very true- albeit a tad slow- but the course was in fantastic shape overall! Staff is always A+ / such a great crew from the Pro Tag Leon on down the line. Will always keep this in our Sandhills rotation. Play it- thank me after! JP
Great course
No complaints here! Great course all around. Great practice facilities as well. Really enjoyed it!
Guy at pro shop was kind of weird and not so friendly.
Fun Layout. Perfect Greens
Mid South Club has clearly put a lot of time, effort and money into improving the entire facility over the past few years. The most notable improvement is the greens renovation that was completed back in 2017. These champion bermuda surfaces are perfect. And when I say perfect, I mean perfect. They are fast, and they roll true on every hole.
There also have been a number of improvements made to the clubhouse, with a really fun bar with several parlor games livening up the post-round atmosphere for members and guests alike.
I have played nearly every course in the Sandhills over the years, and Mid South remains as one of the unsung heroes along Midland Road. If you are traveling in the area, you have done yourself a disservice if you don't play Mid South. By all means, go play #2 and #4 at the resort because the experience there is certainly worth the hype. But don't sleep on Mid South Club. It needs to top your "must play" list for your trip to the cradle of American Golf. You won't be disappointed.
a true test
I'm a 10 HC, and played it on a Monday with my son, who's a scratch player. He played the tips, I played 6,100. We just love this course, because it challenges you to hit a lot of different shots, and even the supposed "easy" holes have some trouble lurking which can lead to bogeys. I hadn't played it in more than 5 years, so was reminded how difficult most of the green complexes were, and how tough some holes are with the narrow front to back greens.
The temp was in the 50's with the wind blowing quite a bit, so we each had 3-5 strokes more than usual. But it's a great course, and we were more than happy to be out there on a cool, pristine day.
Wet, Cold Fun
Played 27 degrees on a 44 degree rainy day. Greens were outstanding (fast and true). Enjoyable layout with variety. Staff was very friendly from the pro shop to starter to two great ladies at the restaurant.
Fun
Considering it’s winter and it’s been raining nonstop, Talamore was in great shape. Certainly some wet areas, but totally playable. Greens were very good, above avg speed and undulation. Cart part only and a large group went out early on, but pace wasn’t terrible. Fairways are huge, no OB, and trees aren’t thick, which made it fun to play.
A good choice
We were looking to play Tobacco Rd but no tee times were available,
After reading some reviews we selected Talamore and were not disappointed. Joined by a young low handicapper, we enjoyed the layout and would definitely return, Conditions were extremely wet and with cool temps, it was not the start that we wished for, but the back nine brought warmth and sunshine, The greens were extremely fast so the scoring left a lot to be desired. Not sure how I would feel about drier faster greens!
Would Play Again
This is my 3rd time at Talamore. I enjoy the course and it is a super deal for a Hot Deal. Was disappointed in the 5some in front of us. For a course that nice and for it being in the Pinehurst area, I expect the starter/marshal to not allow that. I drive a distance to avoid 5somes at our local course! Staff was friendly and the course is well laid out.
One of my favorite course in Pinehurst if not the best.
What could I say Talamore, just keeps getting better and better. I have been here since the beginning where there was no homes and only one road to get in and out of the course. Resse Jones did a fantastic job on building the course and as times have change and so has the course. The new improved course of taken out of the many bunkers and redoing the greens to the New Hybrid has been great. I use to know ever green by heart but even though some shuttle changes they have remained great and now no ( or very few ) ball marks. There are still working on the course on opening it up, you know can see a few holes from the others which it just makes it more appealing. Also they set it up so you no longer have cart path only like they did for over 20 years. Unfortunately we have had way to much rain these past 7-8 months there are spots where they had to block off and I wish people would watch where they are driving and have common sense cause there were tire tracks cause it was still wet in other areas. Although the fairways were paint which make the course looks green, I think of all the other course that I have played still has the best fairways with grass in the area.. Yes they might be thin cause of the winter, I thought they were in the best shape.of the courses that I have played. Great job everyone.
Hospitality
First time playing this course. The course has an excellent layout and I really enjoyed it. There was one thing that stood out above all, the hospitality of the staff. Pro shop employee and the starter gave me great tips on how to play the course. I felt welcomed and I had a great round of golf.
Awesome experience as always.
From the pro shop to the last green, Talamore is a great course.
Hidden Gem
Have played many of the local courses and resorts and at the last minute decided to play Talamore. Very friendly staff and despite heavy rainfall the days before the course was in remarkable condition. Greens were incredible! Fast and true, the best I’ve played regardless of price. Our group will definitely be back to play .
Great Course
Fun to play staff seemed a little annoyed about playing after frost. Round was great!
Fast Greens
If you enjoy fast greens, you have to play here.
