A Sandhills Gem
The recently completed renovations at Talamore have made the golf course a must-play for anyone travelling to the Pinehurst area. The new bermuda greens roll true and will be an absolute treat throughout the warm summer months. The short par-4 ninth hole is the best on the golf course in my opinion. It features tight tee shot protected by a long fairway bunker down the left-hand side (which I promptly found myself in) followed by an uphill wedge or short-iron approach into an undulating green that slopes from back to front. The key new feature on the hole that makes it truly one of the greats is the pair of deep grass-faced bunkers dug into the front of the green complex. Any approach that comes up short is sure to wind up in one of these traps, requiring a links-style side or backward shot to get out of this sandy prison. 5 stars, Talamore. 5 stars!
Best course this time of year
Loved the layout, undulating fairways,,greens in great shape! Loved this course :)
Well worth playing
I played this course immediately after a few hours of rain. Of course it was soggy, but still very playable. Even the couple bunkers I ended up in were still soft enough to hit out of. Enjoyed the layout, nice mix of gettable and challenging holes. The new greens played great and rolled true. The price was unbeatable, played a hot deal tee time with a promo code and paid less than 10. Attendants were fantastic, starter gave me more than enough info about layout. Will definitely go back.
Great Course
Cart paths were under repair but did not affect play.
Very good course , a lot of Improvements make this a excellent choice for a round , new Scottish stlye bunkers are a change up for this area ! Go play it !
Must play course for Pinehurst vistors
I enjoyed this course and great condition when I moved to NC 6 years ago. I returned yesterday after a great Golf Now rate and so glad I made the 1.5 hour drive. Well maintained, good bunkers, level tee boxes, great greens, friendly staff. Speed of greens was not too fast compared to other courses in the area this time of year. There was a lot of cart path construction ongoing on the front nine but manageable. Only drawback was pace of play a bit slow and no marshals were visible but I was in no hurry on this warm February day.
Talamore in February
A excellent golf course in Pinehurst area. The course was in excellent shape for February, the staff was very friendly, the grille was affordable. Pace of play was a little slow. Played in a twosome behind three foursomes.
Course offers several sets of tees so you can find a distance you like to play. A few blind shots off tees but over all the course is in front of you. Greens have some undulations and are fairly quick, but are in great shape. I highly recommend this course!
nice course
I had made a tee time as a single to fill out a threesome that was already booked. When I got there , I found out they had shown up with four , so they sent me out by myself, which was fine . The course it self is in good shape , considering the time of year . Greens were very nice. However , as I have seen mentioned in other reviews, some of the cart paths are not good , to say the least. I did see signs that the issues were being addressed , so hopefully that will continue. It was worth the drive for the money I paid.
Great layout with excellent conditions....
I've played here probably 4 times since August of last year and it's still, as it was then, in sensational condition. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens are near perfect. I take advantage of the Golfnow rates as often as I can being local resident now and am getting truly spoiled. If you're planning a package or coming just for the day this is one of the best around here.
Great renovation
I've always loved this course but haven't played it in a while. I didn't know they had put in new greens, removed 60+ bunkers. The greens are A ++ perfect. They are still doing some work on the cart paths other than that you definitely need to get out and play.
Good course layout, overall review great!
I was pleased to see improvements being made on the cart paths and other areas, which I understood. I throughly enjoyed my round.
Great greens!
Had not played here since the renovation, and new greens. Before that, reviews had not been good. If you played here before the renovation, you owe it to yourself to come play it again Also they removed 60 sand traps, so play is quicker, and a bit less difficult for the average golfer. Looking forward to playing here again.
A Must See Must Play
The title of my review speaks for itself!! GO PLAY ⛳
Great course, great value
The greens were impeccable!! They rolled very smooth and true. I loved the layout. I would definitely play there again. Loved it!!!!!
Talamore
Loved playing here for the 3rd time. Golf course and staff are fantastic ‼️
Not a walking course
This is not a walking/caddie course. Despite Talamore's website advertisements for their "World Famous Caddies" as well as their inclusion within the network of Pinehurst area caddies, the starter did not recommend walking Talamore. A ranger was not even aware caddies were used at the course so as you might have expected, our caddie was not at all experienced and could not find the first hole.
The greens were in great shape, and the course was manicured well, but it does not drain in many spots. It had not rained in the area for at least three weeks, but the course had random bouts of sogginess and mud. Some of these were next to greens, causing at least two strokes on my scorecard.
IMO, this is a mid-tier course at best for the area.
The new course is much more playable
The removal of many bunkers makes playability much better. Greens were true and challenging. Site lines to the greens was very good, no blind holes. Fairway turf and greens very playable. A great addition to Pinehurst golf. Loved the new sod face bunkers very much like British links golf.
retired
Course is in almost perfect condition.
Talk about unrealistic, ill informed expectations! This is not Pinehurst CC. Whatever gave you the impression it was? The course hasn't had caddies since its early inception, and even then it was part of a promotion - Llamas carrying the bags, escorted by young women. You're only about twenty years late!
