$125 course for $65
One of the nicer courses I have played thru GolfNow! Practice facility was adequate, but the course was in great shape with Championship greens and a tough but certainly fair layout! Enjoyed the experience totally in the area I’m from this course would have been at least $150!
Course was in great condition. You can’t go wrong playing this course!
Fun course
Pleasantly surprised! Course is challenging but fun to play. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to our next round!
Disappointing day
Rock Barn has two courses, Jones and Jackson. There was a CGA tournament on the Jones and we played the Jackson. You could tell on the first hole that the Jackson course had been neglected while all the staff worked on the Jones to get it ready for the CGA. The rough grass was so high that you could not find your ball, much less make a playable shot out of it. The bunkers were washed out from recent rains and the greens had bare fungus spots on them. About half of the tee markers were missing with only one marker when there should be two. We were thinking of joining this club, but judging from the poor conditions, we think that Rock Barn must be in financial trouble and in need of more staff and equipment to properly maintain what was once a premier club. If they are still going to offer outside play on the Jackson course, green fees should be halved until they get the course in playable condition. I have played both courses several times and won tournaments on both courses, but it makes me sad to see the Jackson in such bad shape. Please put in the time, effort, and resources to get this course back in the shape it once was. Sorry to have to write this honest review. Good luck!
Sand
Love the course …. Greens were sanded and punched…. Would love to know that in advance. Otherwise worth the ride.
Best in Catawba County
Fast greens, full fairways, different presentations. This is the place.
Wonderful course
Very friendly staff, great layout and quite challenging. Pace was very slow, took us just over 5 hrs, but didn’t really seem that long. Tee boxes and fairways were excellent, but few of the greens had some bad/bald areas on them. Overall great course and will definitely go back.
No water on the course.
The course is great. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Construction going on in Pro Shop and club house.
Really missed not having any of the water stations with drinking water.
Could be a lot better
The bunkers were terrible. Some hard packed and others with pules of sand. You could see the underlayment on some of them. The front nine had some tee boxes that needed serious help. Greens and fairways were in really good shape. Like playing this course but $65 is a little steep considering some of the conditions.
Beautiful scenery!
Beautiful course with monster slopes!
Only criticism, the green could be in better shape and the bunkers were in terrible shape but overall, beautiful place to play would definitely go back! And recommend.
But get your members to take better care of there greens!!
Disappointing
Course came well recommended but was a horrible experience honestly. Paid a holiday premium rate, yet the bar and grill was closed. Had a cart girl, but she drove past us twice without even checking in. No water coolers in their stations. Pace of play was slow. Bunkers were not well maintained. Nearby Church bells were going off constantly (maybe because of the holiday but still very disruptive). Decent layout. Potential here for a great value fun spot, but I won’t be back.
Rock Barn beautifully laid out
First time playing this course and I was not disappointed. Course is challenging, but rewards creativity. It was in great shape. Greens were consistent and rolled great. Will play here again. Enjoyed the round.
