Scenic location
Very nice course in beautiful SunRiver, OR. Well maintained, friendly staff. New greens were put in and they were a little slow.
good condition
We played on their last open day before seasonal closing. The course and greens were in excellent condition.
disappointed
Stayed at Eagle Crest in Redmond and. played 3corses in 3 days. Eagle crest resort was great. Muni in Redmond, Juniper was even better. Sunriver was not even close to the other 2. More hype than course quality. The other two were heads over SR.
Woodlands review
Everything was great until you go to pay. The counter staff is not friendly. I live on the course and have this to a common occurrence. Other than this very important part of the equation to keep people coming back or to feel welcome, the place is great!
Very Nice
I love the Woodlands course. I've played it many times, and I always enjoy it. The course is currently playing very well. The fairways are in great shape, as are the greens. My wife and I got paired up with another couple, and we had a nice time. My only suggestion for the staff would be to better marshall the course. We had a drunken foursome in front of us, and they became a nuisance during the back nine. We had to wait for them constantly, and they were to the point where they needed to be removed from the course.
Slower than molasses
The course is interesting and would have been fun except for having to wait on every single tee, sometimes for more than 5 minutes. I overheard two of the staff talking at the starter's stand say that there was a small break between two foursomes about four groups ahead of us and that they had inserted a twosome into that gap to accommodate the walk-ups. Whatever the problem, the marshals appeared not to do anything to move play along. We will not try this course again soon as there are many in the area that enforce brisk speed of play.
Seattle transplant
Love this course. Greens are in excellent condition and vale is very good when booked on line.
After the Hail!
2 days before I played course had horrific hail storm and dumped 2 inches of hail and rain in 2 hours. Very unusual in Central Oregon in August. I called the info line the evening before I booked the hot deal and nothing was said about greens had been sanded or cart path only for carts. I found about this when I got to the course. They offered me play at Woodlands at 3:52, an hour later than I had booked, but could not go there because of time restraints of our party. I was pleased the greens were in good shape considering the weather. Play was slow.
Felt rushed throughout right from the start
We finished our round under 4 hours with a junior, lady, and 2 men. Seems they over booked and does a bad job scheduling.
My wife gives this 5 out of 5
Checked in at the pro shop 45 minutes prior to tee time. Pro shop staff, very friendly,. Starter friendly, even sent us off a few minutes early. I could go on about how great everything was. (Weather in the low 80's). Beer cart attendant came around 3 times. The greens were in great shape, but as receptive as the cart path. Next time, and I've been informed, there will be a next time. I'll shoot for a few yards short of the green, and let 'em ooze op. Even wedges, they'd just bounce higher.
I'd like to play the "Woodlands" and "Meadows" the same day next time to compare the two.
Quality Experience
We played for the Meadows course for the second time this Summer and enjoyed the experience. Friendly staff at checkin and the starter as well as players assistants. Pace of play was a tad faster this time at a reasonable 4 hours.
Quick greens with good conditions throughout. The only negative is so many geese that they are bit annoying at times and they tend to leave lots of by-products around. Hard to mange that though......
Good experience , as always
Crosswater - A Real Beauty
For background, we played five courses on our golf trip to Bend (Tetherow, Crosswater, Pronghorn, Brasada Ranch and Widgi Creek). I would recommend all of them, including Crosswater. This course is simply a beautiful layout that was a joy to play. It's a very good test and immaculately maintained from perfectly shaped tee boxes to greens that roll truer than true. The fairways are generous; this is definately a second shot course.
Slow Play and Goose droppings
Course was in good condition except the goose droppings one the front 9 were a hazard. Starter didn't give us the pin placement sheet so it was guess work on pin location and club selection. He also didn't give us the access code for the bathrooms. Pace of play was over 5 hours and we waited on every hole. The player assistance representative didn't seem to be taking any action to more the slow players along.
Delightful round.
Staff were friendly and well organized. Pace of play was very good. We enjoyed the course. Enough challenge without wearing us out.
Great service
We errored and arrived at the main facility as we were unaware that the Woodlands was at another check in area. We asked if we therefore play Meadows and the crew was more than helpful and accommodative. That is what service is about~~|our error but they made it not a significant issue. The pace of play was outstanding on the first 9 and average for the second nine and we beat the thunderstorms. Thanks , Sunriver---great experice.
A nice course
I found the meadows course at sunriver a quite forgiving layout. Not much danger on most holes. Some challenging shots, but forgiving of the errant swings. Greens were quite firm and thus a bit difficult to hold. Their condition was good. Ninety percent of the fairways were in very playable condition, but there were some bare spots. Virtually no rough as it was cut perhaps only a half inch longer than the fairways. Enjoyed the course, would play it again, but not on a regular basis.
Fun day
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful all day! The course was well designed and did not beat you up too bad. Very large and deep bunkers were the main defense. The greens were on slow side, and overall course conditions were not what you would expect for the green fee.
Nice course and fun to play
The starter had no personality at all. He was gruff and a bit sarcastic.
Awesome
Weather was perfect. Course was fun yet challenging. Staff was helpful and friendly. Pace of play in 2 days was 3 hours 15 minutes. 1round in the morning and 1 round in the afternoon. I'd recommend this resort to any golfer no matter what your handicap.
Meadows
Beautiful course layout and water features. Course should come in as Excellent in a few more weeks of good spring and summer weather. Definitely would play again and recommend highly. Multiple tee choices also makes it a good course for all levels, however beginners would find the course very challenging due to the water features, Little Deschutes running through and around most of the course. However, that is the beauty of the course. The numerous bunkers offer some challenge with high sides and many guarding the greens. Great track!
