Linden Hall
About Linden Hall
Linden Hall touts itself as "one of Pennsylvania's best secrets". This 785-acre estate is home to a historic 74-room lodge and a 6,405-yard golf course that winds up and down the region's rolling hills. The 8,720-square-foot Linden Hall mansion contains 35 rooms, 27 fireplaces, 13 baths, an indoor bowling alley and walk-in clothes dryer. An Aeolian pipe organ, one of three in the world, could be heard throughout the first and third floors when played. Today, the mansion, dating to 1913, is used by the United Steel Workers of America. The Club Pub restaurant overlooking the 18th fairway, a heated outdoor pool and hiking/biking trails are available.Facts

Great Gem of a Course
This was a great surprise of a course but it really enjoyed the golf course. Fairways were spongy and in great shape. Greens held all of the shots that hit it. They were a little slower than I normally played but rolled true and also were in great shape. From the white tees, it was 6400 yards but did not seem that long. Back nine had a lot of elevation changes. It was a great course and gem of a find. Would definitely play it again if I am in town.
Very good condition for the heat wave
The course is in very good condition considering the heat wave the area is in. The greens wee fast and true. The only disappointment was the halfway house and restaurant were closed due to the pandemic.
Excellent course
Very well maintained course. Excellent greens, fairways and tee boxes. Very friendly golfers since I was a single and they let me play through right away.
Knock 'em close!
Course is in great shape and greens are always a challenge.
Beautiful Course
Loved playing this course. Was able to play the front nine by myself. The wide fairways were forgiving of my errant tee shots. Greens were slightly slow, but true. Fixed a few extra ball marks on every green -- I wish others were more diligent about fixing their marks. Sand was in good condition, but of course, no rakes. Played with some folks on the back nine, where the pace of play was just a bit slow. Absolutely no bug problems. Can't wait to return.
Great Course, but upper management kills this place.
Great course,, BUT restaurant is closed despite having outside seating. The hut on the turn is closed on Mondays for some unknown reason. Had to go back to clubhouse to get something to drink. Can't go in clubhouse without face mask, so no access to bathroom or something to drink without one. I've tried to book my golf league in an outing the last couple of years (40+ golfers) & management isn't interested. It amazes me that they're still open the way it is run.
Stunning views, no bugs, best round of the year
We had an 740 tee time. The coures was beautifully maintained. Amazing views on back 9. Loved the cource, saw bugs were an issue in the past. We had no issues at all with bugs. Plan to play again soon.
Beautiful greens
First time playing this course. These were some of the truest rolling greens I’ve ever played on. That’s what really made this course stick out to me. The front 9 is pretty plain but long. The back 9 has much more character and was a lot of fun to play. A good mix of long and short par 4s. I’d definitely recommend this to others looking for a reasonably priced course to play
2nd time around
I played and reviewed this course several weeks ago and made comment about the ever present bugs, sand fleas, what ever you want to call them. I've played here for years and they are present on several holes along the wood line. Well not this time. There were no insects to speak of on the entire course. The course was in the best shape that I've have every seen and I go back to when we use to ride horses here.
Amazing value
The course was in great shape. Amazing greens putts rolled true. Absolutely will be back.
So so
The course conditions were very good. The staff seemed bothered by any questions we had and if we needed anything and they had to get off of the golf carts in front of the pro shop and go back in it was like you were being bothersome. I enjoy good experiences as well as good golf. That was my first and last time going there. Maybe the staff should make people feel welcomed instead of a thorn in their side.
Perfect day, Perfect conditions
We have played Linden Hall for years but the course conditions continue to improve each year. The course was in impeccable condition today and the weather was perfect. Many people complain (justifiably) about the bugs but it appears that they have taken mitigation efforts to stop that problem. There were a few gnats on the first two holes but the rest of the course was fine. Pristine course conditions make this a must play course.
The bugs are still there
It had rained the night before I played so the sand traps weren't worked and raked but beside that the course itself was in nice shape. The bugs are still there, neither worse or better than usual but I still enjoyed my round with the use of bug spray. I played by myself and one group let me play through so I finished 18 holes in a little under 2 & 1/2 hours.
Employee's need to be more pleasant.
You couldn't find more people not happy because of where they were. At least four individuals grunted out commands without the courtesy of a simple gesture of common pleasantry. I first played this course when I was 12 years old with my father. I'm now 67 and love the game and normally love saying hi and being friendly but couldn't find a nice face. I won't play here again because of this and I play everywhere in W PA.
Back 9 is what makes this course...
Layout is okay. Front nine is pretty bland, a few decent holes but once you arrive on the backside of the course where you can overlook the valley from this one par 3, it's a great view. Also the historic mansion is a pretty special sight.
It was wet from a lot of rain overnight so I can't be too critical of the conditions. Price was excellent, we did play during the week so I can't speak for the value on the weekend, but all in all a course worth making the trip and seeing for yourself.
