No Thanks to GolfNow
Tried making a reservation on the app but it kept telling me that my chosen tee time was no longer available. Tried 4 times and got the same result. Called the course and made a tee time without the app. Lo and behold my credit card gets charged a convenience fee and my alternate email got sent the confirmation which the app NEVER gave me. I think I will make my tee times with the course from now on. By the way, the course was very nice. A little wet from all the rain, greens were slow, recently aerated but in good condition. will come back in the spring.
Great layout, fun to play
We played the day after Thanksgiving. Normally the course closes November 1st so we not not expecting great conditions (sand, greens, tee boxes, etc.). It was cold and cart path only due to recent rain but the course was still in good shape.
You really need to have the yardage book to enjoy course. It is not you typically driver on every hole and wedge to the green. You really have to think your way around the course and many times club selection dictated an iron off the tee. This makes play much more enjoyable because it challenges your game.
I will continue playing here every year as it's a great course.
Split Rock Golf Club
Thoroughly enjoyed our round. The course was both challenging and exciting. There's some great picturesque holes. The par 3s are a joy to ping a SW/PW to, the par 5s are long and require a good drive and also a great wood if you want a chance of making the green in 2. Fantastic value for money. The scenes to of Lake Harmony were tremendous.
Pocono Mtn High
Course was in excellent shape for this late Autumn round on an unseasonably warm and calm day in November. Greens were slow and a little variable, yet still hard to hold on approaches, but since the course was empty that didn't impact the round.
There are a number of tricky holes where distances are not that clear and if you take driver off the tee you might send it straight through fairway and into the woods. There are also some tough approaches with junk areas scattered around just to make life miserable and gobble up balls, so playing the course a second time should improve the experience.
Kudos to the greenskeepers for having all flags in reasonable spots.
Great layout, some really pretty holes. Not sure why the blue tees were closed but still challenging from the whites. The greens were not cut and rolled possibly due to the time of year or the tail end of aeration. Will defy play there again.
Nice Day!
Awesome to be playing here the first week of November! Greens are a little bumpy and slow compared to their usual speed and condition, but still pretty fair. Nice job with leaf removal from most of the course. Great variety of holes and shots, we had a great time and got a great deal.
bring plenty of balls
If you play in the fall bring plenty of balls. With the sun low in the sky and the leaves collecting on the fairways, lost balls are common. The greens are somewhat slower than average, but the course layout is very interesting.
Fair
Nice course that is in decent shape. The fact that it is right by the interstate though makes it impossible to even talk to other players you’re with directly across the green. It’s loud. I’ve played multiple courses located right aside a busy highway and have no issues, but all you heard was traffic on most of the holes.
