Beautiful Course
Where to start. The staff was excellent upon arrival, from the bag drop, to the pro shop, to the range, to the starter and Marshall’s. Range was a bonus to warm up and their facilities are 2nd to none. Tee’s were in great shape. Fairways, traps and greens all in good shape. This course is more money than other public courses on the island, but worth the expense. By far, my favourite course on the island. Lots of water and traps, forcing you to position yourself in preparation for your approach shots. For a challenge play either the blue or black tee blocks, for those long hitters. You won’t be disappointed playing here. Great experience.
Required fore caddies
Our fore caddie was fine. Great guy, but I would have preferred that we had the option. He just showed up on the tee and we had to use him. To be honest, we did not need him and it was an additional $30 I did not want to spend.
Having said that, what a great experience. This would not keep me from coming back but should be by request.
Greens were in excellent condition, fairways only fair. Golf carts are pathetic for the price we paid, similar in to a cart you woul get at a second rate public course.
Great course.
Course was great a little wet from all the rain but played great. The only thing my wife and I has a problem with was a awevee in the bar, world's worst server. That was the only issue, other words it was great.
Good course
Enjoyable well designed course. Conditions wet due to significant rain.
Great course
Great day, though it was cart path only. Tough course with excellent design.
Wonderful Course
Great conditions. Greens fast and true. Pace of play was perfect. Not as difficult as Atlantic Dunes but a joy to play.
Great course, except...
Beautiful course but we were charged ~$40.00 more at the course than what GN said that we were going to owe. Not cool!
Outstanding Course in an Outstanding Location!
I played the original Ocean Course several times and loved it, so I was concerned when Sea Pines Resort completely renovated this course (via Davis Love III) and it emerged as Atlantic Dunes. But the new course is outstanding!
Fantastic layout, great diversity of holes, and superb playing conditions. Several holes allow for multiple playing options and strategies, which makes it fun. The four closing holes are tough - be sure to make the proper club selections when playing into the ocean wind on 15 and around the dogleg on 16. The best part may be the location - Sea Pines Resort and all it has to offer. The new Plantation Club clubhouse and restaurant (Fraser's) are excellent. Great staff - great food - great location. Plus, the new Sea Pines Beach Club is just across street with two great restaurant options (plus bar and lounge) overlooking the ocean. Everything is top notch.
First Time at Harbour Town
Our foursome really enjoyed our round here. We opted to walk and had two caddies that carried our bags for our group. If you're willing to pay the extra caddy tip money, walking is totally worth doing! I feel like we got to experience and enjoy the course more by walking. Note that if you have a big cart bag, the course will probably provide you a carry bag to borrow for the round so that caddies can carry it.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. They are there to make sure your experience is an enjoyable one!
The first 15 holes are a nice layout that culminates starting at 16 fairway with amazing views of the Sound. You'll want some pictures.
Fairways are narrow and tree lined and green complexes are tricky. The course is difficult, but we felt it was fair for all abilities. So bring a straight tee ball and your short game!
This course is amazing
First time playing at this course. I had a fantastic experience at this course. Great layout, challenging greens, and exceptional customer service. My forecaddie Randy gave helpful tips during my round and was a great guy to talk to. Unfortunately, the greens were just punched but they were still rolling pure. Even if your debating whether to play this because of the price, its totally worth it. This course is a must-play in Hilton Head and I plan on coming back in the future.
Awesome Course - Great Condition
I have played Atlantic Dunes many times and each time a have a great time and I love the course.
Atlantic Dunes is an awesome course. I played five other courses on this trip, and this was definitely one of the best. The course was in great condition.
The layout is great as well. There are some very challenging holes with plenty of water and bunkers. However, none of the holes are unfair or tricked up, simply difficult and challenging.
Overall, the price tag is much higher than most courses in Hilton Head. The price is the only drawback about the course. You can play similarly challenging and similarly conditioned courses for about 1/2 of 3/4 the price of Atlantic Dunes. However, Atlantic Dunes one of the nicest course around that the public can get on.
Worth the money
Although a little expensive, I found the experience well worth the cost. Very tight course with tree lined fairways, but fair. You just can’t hit a huge slice or hook. Greens were in great condition and rolling at around an 11 on the meter. Our caddie, Boyde (sp?), was great. Being a player himself, really helped us pick our clubs and areas to aim at. Very knowledgeable about the course. We didn’t get to use the clubhouse amenities due to the wives wanting to go out. Last four holes are beautifully designed and provide great views. I would totally recommend playing here and plan to return.
Beautiful Course!!
Conditions were excellent. Would give it 5 stars but bunkers lacked sand. Otherwise greens & fairways were immaculate. Have recommended to all my friends if/when they visit Hilton Head.
Wow.
The course was in absolutely pristine shape. The RBC Heritage took place a week earlier, which I'm sure helped.
Our family also received a discount by purchasing a "3-Pack" for all of the three courses at Sea Pines, which definitely helped with the high price tag that accompanies Harbour Town.
Our forecaddie helped, but the other players in our group complained that he didn't work very hard compared to other forecaddies. Regardless, having a forecaddie certainly helps with the pace-of-play.
The course is incredibly difficult, but it's hard not to enjoy playing such a beautiful and well-kept course.
Great Overall
Very well maintained golf course (almost as nice as Harbour Town) and some very fun / challenging holes. Of course, the postcard-worthy 15th hole certainly adds to the experience.
Pace of play was pretty poor. We waited on every hole from the get-go and finished just over 5 hours.
Thank you for your review. We apologize that you did not have a positive interaction with our bag drop attendant. The issue has been addressed internally, and we will use your feedback as we strive to provide a world-class experience to all of our golfers. At the same time, we have implemented a number of policies to ensure the health and safety of our employees and guests, including removing coolers and towels from the golf carts.
