Fun course
For the $ this course is the best !! Perfect greens , we’ll placed traps . Beautiful views.
Mostly Excellent
With one exception, my experience playing Atlantic Dunes was quite enjoyable. The condition was excellent. The employees were top notch. I was quite impressed with the layout. But in my opinion, the physical shape of many bunkers should be changed. Too many bunkers have much too steep of faces, especially fairway bunkers. The condition is inappropriate for this resort course. There is no need for it. I spoke with the starter, and the course ranger several times during the rather slow round. We waited on most shots. Each told me there is a slow play problem on the course. Also, the ranger told me that there are some players who only play a few times annually who struggle with this course. I imagine that these bunkers contribute to the slow play and struggles. My playing partners hit far too many bunker shots into the banks, and eventually picked up the ball not being able to get out. A modification here should speed up play and cause an even higher rating for this wonderful facility.
Best Course of our Trip!
Atlantic Dunes is an awesome course. We played six courses on our trip, and this was definitely the best one. It was in perfect shape despite how dry it has been in Hilton Head. Almost every other course we played had issues with their their fairways or greens, but Atlantic Dunes had neither.
The layout is great as well. There are some tough holes with plenty of water to find. If you are struggling with ball striking, you will find trouble. None of the holes are unfair or tricked up, simply difficult.
Overall, the price tag is higher than most courses in Hilton Head, but it is probably the nicest course around that the public can get on.
Great Course in Great Shape!
Layout: The course is extremely well designed. Each hole was different and there was a variety of challenges.
Conditioning: The entire course was in great shape. The other courses we have played this trip have had a lot of dried out tee boxes and dead spots on the fairways. Heron Point was in perfect shape all around. The greens were kind of hard, but they were perfectly green and rolled great.
Overall, Heron Point is a great course and it is in tremendous shape.
Nice course, better options
No complaints. Course was fun to play and in good condition. With so many good courses in area, Heron Point is on the pricier end without being a noticeably superior experience. HP was fine and I'm glad I played. Treated like a royal, but better value elsewhere for this intermediate level golfer.
Good condition
I have no complaints. Course was in good condition. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I found the course to be very fair, offering appopriate challenges for all levels of golfer. Visually appealing. Heron Point was great, but for me was pricey compared to other high quality courses in area. No regrets playing a good course. Lots of courses to choose from means my return visit to HP will be a lower priority than some other courses. That's more a statement on HHI as a great golf destination than deficiencies in Heron Point.
Great challenging course
Course was in great shape. Clubhouse and practice facilities were great. Staff was extremely friendly. Highly recommend the course to anyone in the area.
Simply the best on Hilton Head Island
The Harbour Town experience is top notch from the clubhouse to the first tee to the 18th hole with the famous red and white lighthouse in the background overlooking the sound. The course is known for its last couple of holes, but really the inland holes are just as interesting as they set up the fantastic finish. It has a great collection of par 3s, the par 5s are pretty good, too, and every par 4 is different. In other words, there's great variety. With greens on the smaller side, a good short game is a must, and you really do have to think your way around the golf course.
Perfect complement to Harbour Town
One of three courses open to the public at The Sea Pines Resort, Atlantic Dunes by Davis Love III is pretty dazzling. Unlike Harbour Town, the greens at Altantic Dunes are quite large, so the targets are inviting, but you still have to avoid water on much of the course. Fortunately, there are lots of options on many of the holes, including forward tees that avoid the forced carries. While much is made of the par-3 15th, one of just two true Atlantic Ocean holes on Hilton Head Island, the rest of the course is anything but boring. The front nine ends with an outstanding par 5 that features a terrific risk-reward opportunity. And the back nine ends with dazzling stretch of finishing holes, including the difficult 18th with water along the right side. Add well-thought out and very playable bunkers to the mix and outstanding conditions, and Atlantic Dunes comes in at five stars.
spectacular
just an amazing course - all of it, from design to conditions. greens, rough, sand traps, tee box's - just immaculate. Can't wait to come back. Very challenging. But no complaints - it was fair, i just stink!
One of My Favorite Courses
Pristine conditions, every hole feels like a beautiful walk through nature. Awesome staff and facilities, get there early to experience it all. I played the old Ocean Course a few times before and loved it but now it's on another level after the rebuild, a professional feeling course in the best location. Hilton Head and Sea Pines is my favorite place to visit in the US, a perfect setting for a golf course like this.
Pace of play was great, my wife and I played just after 1:00 and played the front 9 in an hour and a half, but took more time on the back just to relax take it in. I feel like I could play here every day if I lived in the area and could afford it (retirement goals).
We got a rate of $110 because I bundled into a 2 round package with Harbour Town. It would be tough to pay the $185 morning rate or $155 afternoon rate so I hope they can keep the course more affordable for the next time I visit. Thanks for the great experience!
Awesome Experience
Playing at Harbour Town isn't just a round of golf but is an entire experience. Make sure you get there plenty early to walk around and take in the world class facilities (make sure to check out the locker room, coolest one I've been in).
You also can't beat the location, HHI and Sea Pines is one of the most special, beautiful, and peaceful settings you'll ever visit.
The course is beautiful, of course holes 17 and 18 are the most special but almost every hole is unique and memorable. Holes 13 and 14 are my other favorites. Best collection of Par 3's you can ever play. It is also the hardest course I've ever played because of the pinched holes with overhanging trees and the severeness of the bunkers, but it's all part of the experience. It's one of those courses that I'm more interested in taking in the scenery than worrying about my score, but getting a few pars and birdies is special there also.
Our caddy Zac was nice and knowledgeable and pleasant to be with. If given the option I'd pass on a caddy but I totally understand why they require them here, and it is a unique add-on to the experience. He was the best caddy we could have hoped for, keeping our round relaxed but moving us along at the same time.
This was my second time playing here. With the price point it's at, it's the kind of course I'd be willing to pay to play once every couple years. We paid $195 and I'm pretty sure that's the cheapest rate of the year. Please don't raise it much more because I'd love to play again in the future but not sure I'd pay much more.
Good Course
Very much enjoyed playing the course. Have played this course for years and this is the nicest it’s ever been. Love did a great job with the redo. Definitely recommend it.
Beautiful Course, but just not for me.
This is a very nice course. Well maintained, Great staff, excellent off course amenities, I recommend it for the locker room alone. With all that said, it’s just not a course for me. I’m an intermediate level player, and the layout wasnt that enjoyable for me. The undulations in the fairways didn’t always reward you with a good lie following a nice tee shot.
Not worth the price
First, a beautiful course. Staff was very friendly. The problem is the caddie is not there so much to help you, but to get you off the course as fast as possible. It’s an easy course to walk but the pace the caddie pushed was too fast. He drug us along at 1.5 hours on the front nine. Play slowed on the back as we ran into other groups in the last two holes. Or pace was so fast that we waited for 30 minutes at the 17th tee and still no one behind us caught up. There was a youth tourney played on the back that day but if we had not been pushed at a 3 hour pace we would never of had to wait. Very disappointed that for that level of course and how much we paid to play it, that we were pushed that fast. Really didn’t get to enjoy the course as we should have. We also played the other sea pines courses. All staff very nice and Atlantic dunes was great, heron pointe had just been aerated but still a really nice course. I would play those two again but will not play harbor town again and would advise anyone going to Hilton Head to avoid harbor town. Many other great courses on Hilton Head less expensive and can play at a normal relaxed 4 hour pace.
Top 100
Pretty cool to play a course that is featured on the pga tour. Excellent design tight varied and hard! This is as challenging as it gets don’t let the lack of overall distance fool you. Lots of bunkers and trees. Top notch Dye design. Forecaddie was very good and fun. Knew the course well and excellent at reading outs which you will need. This course have almost 18 memorable holes not just hole 18 with the lighthouse
Great Track!
Really enjoyed the layout and ambiance of the course. Track was in great shape from tee to green. Little pricy but is worth a play.
