Imaginative layout

I was playing solo the day I played and was one of the first to go out. Sun was just rising and the first couple of holes were facing east, so it was tough see. Also, course was wet due to the previous day's rain, so It was cart paths only. The front nine is pretty basic, except for the river and ponds making club selection and accuracy important or you will lose a few balls, as I did. The greens were newly fertilized and almost an unnatural green compared to the rest of the course. They were very receptive...balls held well, but putting speed was especially slow first thing in the a.m. The view at number nine was especially lovely, with creek around and flowers inviting to the eye. The back nine is much more interesting, and a bit non-traditional in the layout, but I really enjoyed doing the math and figuring out which club I needed to get to the hole without ending up in a ravine or water. There is one par three with a long trek up to the tee and some pretty scary switchback turns on the cart path. The tee here had artificial grass which was kind of tacky, but I imagine the shaded area is hard to maintain, and it would also be hard to get mowing equipment up to the elevated tee. The cart path took me by some lovely settings along the creek, and later opened up into the valley looking up to the homes nestled on the hills above...lovely views. If I had had time, I would have given the back nine a second try. There were a few "buggy" areas, but not too bothersome on this particular day. Give this course a try if you want a nice easy warm-up nine followed by an almost whimsical second nine. Bring your imagination along!

A Good Value

Bent Creek for the most part was in good shape. The fairways were well covered with a mix of Bermuda and other local grasses. They were cut and the ball sat up nicely. The greens were in good shape, although putts were slow. Most ball marks were fixed, but there will always be people who will not fix their marks, so you can usually find one or two that need attention.
The layout consists of two different nines. The front nine is open, with creeks and ponds that will make you pay attention. The back nine moves through the woods, with that ever present water, to make shot placement critical.
If there is any negative, it is the ever present bugs that are all around you. Be prepared with some spray if you go.

Challenging and fun

Front 9 was great to play in that you can shoot some low scores. However, the back 9 is very challenging and not very forgiving. Lost several balls.....but didn't mind. Bent Creek, an actual creek, runs throughout the course and there are water hazards on almost every hole - the creek. It you can book this course for $30, you're getting a good deal.

Back Nine ---GOONY Golf!!!!

Front --- ok; flat; very slow greens; medium difficulty.
Back--- GOONY GOLF for 4 holes!!!!!!
I HATE GOONY GOLF !!!!
Target golf to areas from 185 yards to 20 yard square!!!!!
You must hit the small areas or your either in the woods or water!!!
Nice elevation change. Par 3 150 ' drop, but your target is in the sky!!!! Nothing you can aim at!!!! GOONY GOLF!!!!!!
I came from Florida to play this Gary Player course and was VERY, VERY, DISAPPOINTED WITH GOONY GOLF!!!!
Would not recommend to anyone!!!!
There are to many golf course with in 50 minutes drive to play here!!!

this course had some great holes.

I had never played a mountain course. This course did not disappoint me. It provided a great experience with some holes to tell my golfing friends about.

nice track

Recent heavy rainfall made the front nine wet, and the rough rather thick. The creeks running through it made accuracy a premium. Back nine has several blind shots making course knowledge valuable. Pretty piece of property, nice greens, will try again now that I have played it, hopefully while dry. Pleased with the course, will score better next time.

Back 9 is the place

Due to rain the front 9 was squishy and not maintained.
Both front and back fairways were overgrown, however,
adventurous back 9 with winding cart path and many creek side views

Front and back.....night and day

Unfortunately, we had a large amount of rain the day before and in the morning before tee-off, which made for cart path only and sloppy conditions. The front nine is fairly wide open and fair. Back nine is much tighter and you can really only hit driver on one maybe two holes. Greens were fair and pretty slow, but again we had a lot of rain.

This Course has great holes that challenge you with awesome views

In the past this course has been awesome. This time the front 7 holes was under water and because of this they had not been able to keep up with the mowing and weeds. The gnats were terrible. The green were okay but soft and people were not repairing their ballmarks. Your ball would plug, no roll onfront!
Back 9 was better. Note it did not help that we had a early Tee Time.

Nice design

Course was saturated and had standing water on the course from a heavy rain. First 7 holes were very wet, but the course seemed to drain quickly. Back nine had a few neatly designed holes. Would like to play again when dry. Due to the wetness, some fairways were not manicured very well. When dry, this looks to be a really nice course. Gnats are terrible, bring bug spray.

Front nine is quite boring. Back nine is hilly and quite challenging.

Front nine is in a flood plain and was very wet. Holes go back and forth with little of interest,

Back nine is hilly and very interesting in design.

Conditions overall were not very good but the price was reasonable.

Worth a try, if visiting in the area.

An above average of a resort course. Two completely different nines, with the front nine in your face and the back nine a little tricky if you are not on your toes. Summertime take your bug spray for river gnats. Also, take your camera.

Lots of gnats. Especially on holes near the woods or close to water.

The layout is excellent and has some quirks that are interesting (the 8th hole with the pond in the middle of the driver of 3-wood landing distance and the 9th hole with the creek affecting at least the first and third shots). The gnats are really annoying. The wetness of the course (thunderstorm the evening before we played) caused us to have to stay on the cart paths. The cart paths need attention; it would have been nice to have a 4x4 golf cart for some of it. The greens were very nice and the fairways were OK. There are other courses in the area that are better maintained and don't have the gnats.

This course is well situated however the course needs more care and you will need your bug spray

Some of the fairways need attention and hold water and there are lots of flies around so you need protection. All in all the course could be very good if it received the care and attention it requires

Good price, but poor conditions

Overall we got a good price, as it was a 'Hot Deal". The course itself was in poor condition. The fairway were a mix of grass and weeds, the cart paths were in horrible conditions and the greens were all painted green (the greens themselves were in good shape). Due to a funky layout and cart path only, the round was about 4.5 hours. Worst of all was the amount of bugs. I have never played a course with this many bugs (mostly gnats). I would not recommend the course to anyone.

This course was unique

There was a huge contrast from the front nine to the back. The front nine is wide open and resembles a links style while the back nine is a true mountain course with unique and challenging holes. The back nine had several blind shots increasing the difficulty.

Really enjoyed the course however the Pro shop staff were not the most friendly people. Overall I will return to play another round.

Pretty tight, short, nice greens, creek/ponds on most holes.

I'm a 5 hdcp. Shot 79. Played the back tees. Front is flat and straight, back is hilly and target golf. Greens were good bent grass. Bunkers were totally unraked after a night of rain. I played at noon. It's fairly tight all the way around. I only used driver on a few holes. Short, target, 3 shot par 5's. Back has 3 holes that are pure targets. If you miss, a green sized landing area off tees, you lose a ball. Nice design and very traditional look. Good value and cheap after 3. Nice staff. Gave me a rain check credit for a whole 18.

Challenging little course

Short but challenging course. Scenic with great greens and fairways. Back nine is more challenging than the front with blind shots and layups. Course was wet due to two days of rain before we played, so it was cart path only.

Great course, but if you are a beginner it is very challenging.

Loved the views and overall course. Needs to be maintained on the golf cart path....too may potholes and rough terrain. No sand on carts to fill divots.

This course was awesome!

I've never played a mountain course before.the views from the front nine where of the mountains and creeks and ponds throughout.the back nine was very tough and the coolest layout ever. Almost needed 4 wheel drive carts to navigate the unbelievable terrain. It was such a radical design and I had to play to twice just because I couldn't really get enough of it. I cannot wait to return .
