A Rare Treat
I usually play courses whose green fees are no more than $50 bucks, so playing Cowboys was a rare treat. My immediate impression was formed by the way the staff treated me. They were friendly, helpful, courteous, and most concerned that I had a pleasant experience. From the greeter at the bag drop off, to the pro, to the starter, to the barkeep, all were professional yet approachable.
Regarding the course, I'll start with a gentle criticism. The greens were not in top shape, having suffered from too little rain and some harsh winter temps. Most greens had some patches or thin spots, so the ball didn't always run true. However, the greens were mostly soft and held a well-flighted ball.
The fairways were in great shape, and the vistas from the elevated tee boxes are some of the best in the area, reminding me why Spring time in Texas is always a delight.
The cart girl came around frequently enough, and the mid-course snack shop served a good-enough jalapeno sausage sandwich and cold drinks.
On hole 14 my golfing partner and I hooked up with a couple of club members, one a scratch player and the other a duffer. Both were amiable, and good company. After one of my shots one would say things like, "That's wet," and the other would soften the blow with, "But it was entirely well struck!" They, Bill and John, were good guys, and it was a pleasure to meet them.
After the round, dinner was included in the green fee. But, being mostly satisfied with the on-course snacks, I only ordered the fish and chips, which were hot and crispy --- and more than I could eat.
I started and ended my day at the driving range, hitting balls until my hands ached.
It was an entirely satisfying experience, and though I may never have the good fortune to play the course again, I can enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who looking for an immersive experience in top-tier golf.
A must golf experience
Enjoyed everything about the golf course. Plan to stay out all day. I was there for over 8 hours since Tee time came with unlimited food and beverage. I ate before my tee time and after my round. Only down falls is there practice facility need care and as expected very full. Had to wait for the driving range and our round took a little over 4.5 hrs.
Great fun!
Can't wait to play there again! Not a difficult course.
Certainly not worth it
Greens had been aerated but that was not so bad....greens were just not so great. For a resort course charging $185 per round....the whole experience was a disappointment. It does include all the food and non-alcoholic drinks you can put down. Food was ok, but nothing special at all. Service during the day was spotty....some poor, some great. I play several public courses that charge $35 or less ..that are in better shape. I guess the "Cowboys" theme and the jalapeño sausage dogs make up the other $150!.....not!
Very friendly staff
Course conditions were fair. But being in Texas at this time of the year, we guess would be normal. Greens were aerated In which the price should reflect??? Thank you, Larry MCDonald
Underwhelmed in Big D
Perhaps we were too excited by the hype we'd heard and maybe it was a little early in the season to play here (didn't seem as though the course had fully rebounded from the Winter yet), but this place didn't really live up to expectations. It was fine (with a good mixture of holes and the Cowboys connection was entertaining) but that's really it at this price. At a more reasonable price, we would recommend it, but not really at the current greens fees.
Poor Staff
Worst staff at any course I've played in the world. They treat the Carts better than the guests. I saw them wash and pamper the carts but I was greeted rudely in Pro Shop. The food is over priced and not good. Some lady that worked in the Pro Shop came into where i was eating and smoked right behind me and was a jerk to the people she was speaking to. It was obvious no one liked her due to her rude behavior. They laughed and made fun of her after she left. My lunch was ruined by her smoking while i tried to eat.
The pace of play is never monitored or dealt with. I am new to the area so i thought i would join an MGA to have someone to play with but I was warned that the pace of play is 5+ hours.
Great facility
First class facilities. Our group purchaced the VIP package and left thinking it was well worth the money.
All the staff was friendly and welcoming.
Course was in great condition for February. Also challenging with bunker placement.
Highly recommend this course.
Looking forward to playing there soon.
Very nice course, but over priced
Had a great round of golf here with my son. Great experience, all you can eat and drink was great, and the course was in great condition. The only reason I only gave this course 4 stars is the price. You will not be disappointed with anything else here.
Everything we expected and more!
Our first round at Cowboys Golf Club was very enjoyable. Now that we know the layout our next visit should be more productive. This course is everything we were told to expect and more! And of course I have to mention the Jalapeno Sausages, uummmmhhh good!!
Course is in great shape
Awesome course to play. Cost to play is super pricey. Wish there were more specials to play the course.
Shotmakers course.Loved layout & music in practice are :))
We got a great deal through Golfnow's Hot Deals...good food was included in the price, so nice to have a bite to eat before going out . Tony the starter was very helpful....THANKS Tony. Good selection in pro-shop as well. I have already recommended to friends. Try it you will like it ;)). Beautiful scenery & was surprised how terrain was just outside town...felt like in the hill country...except for planes going over every 30 seconds. ( Only part didn't like & can not change )
Great course. Great rate
Enjoyed course and invited my golf buddy. Thanks for the great rate. We played for less than 1/2 the normal rate. I will fairhfullycontinue to use golfnow. I am very satisfied with your rates and tee times
The Best!!
Cowboys Club is number 1 in every way! It is always such a pleasure to spend the day at this course. The food is wonderful, the staff is so very nice, and the course is always immaculate. It is expensive to play, but you definitely get what you pay for!!
Poor Customer Service
I was very disappointed with the check-in process. My tee time was 1pm and arrived about 12:00pm. I waited almost 20 min before a cart was available. Once I finally got my bag loaded headed to range and found the grass all torn up and the golf balls were old and slightly cut up. Perhaps my standards are set too high but expected for the price customer service and driving range would have been higher quality.
Cool lay out lots of rolling hills
This course is a fun track! It's a touch pricey if I would have had to pay full price! I would play it again and recommend it to anyone to at least play it once!
bang for the buck
One of the nicest public courses ive played for the money. You really get that country club feel! Great place to play
al lot of fun
Had a good time with an early start. the course had a lot of dew from the change in weather that made the first nine holes a little wet and much more challenging. Felt like an escape to play at Cowboys!
ABSOLUTELY A MUST PLAY
I am an avid user of golfnow and have a goal to play every DFW course they provide rounds for...if there's a course better than Cowboys GC I would be shocked. The course was in immaculate condition this past Wednesday. Course layout is very pleasing to the eye, fairways, greens were fast. And for the service you get from all staff, plus from my experience it's all inclusive (expect alcohol), it is completely worth the cost, especially is you can take advantage of one of the hot deals. Had an incredible time and highly recommend this course.
Great course, super staff!!
The food was awsome, practice area really nice, and the course was excellent.
Worst staff ever at any course in the world
