About Moody Gardens
Moody Gardens is a large resort and attraction area with a hotel, conference center and 18 holes of golf in the coastal town of Galveston, Texas. It is well known for its three pyramids home to an aquarium and rain forest attractions. It has not only an onsite waterpark but is next to Schlitterbahn as well. There are six dining concepts, as well as a spa and fitness center. It's within easy access to historic downtown Galveston, Pleasure Pier and the beaches. The golf course originally opened in 1989 but was totally redesigned by Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy in 2008. This watery layout features scenic views of the gulf, bridges and bayous, and the back nine plays alongside the small Galveston airport. The course is links-inspired with gulf breezes and wall-to-wall paspalum turf. Historic Galveston is less than an hour's drive from downtown Houston, making Moody Gardens a popular day trip destination as well as for weekend vacation getaways.Facts

Course was in immaculate condition. Some of the best greens I have ever seen on a public or private course.

Beautiful course in so good condition, especially for the greens. Staff are so nice and friendly. I definitely will play again and again. So outstanding experience.

Favorite track in this area
The course was in excellent conditions
It took us almost 4 hours for a round
The snack cart came by very often
Only bad thing I have to say is about those darn par 5 holes, that they will get you!

Relaxing
This was nice course on the coast I only was able to play 9 holes but definitely was enjoyable and the greens were in great shape.

New Range Balls are in!!
Major kudos to the staff at Moody Gardens Golf Course for taking action and adding new range balls this week! They must pay attention to reviews as they also filled in damaged area on the range as well. I posted a review on Saturday and by Tuesday they came through. This course really is a gem. The quality of the fairways for a seaside course are exceptional. The other very impressive feature that is not well known is how well this course handles heavy rain. Drainage is exceptional and while they may have to designate as cart path only, rarely is it for more than a day or two. Very friendly and accommodating staff make this a top public Texas course year after year.

Great Greens!
Had been wanting to play here for sometime, and it was worth the wait! The course is in great shape, and putting on these greens was a treasure. Looking forward to going back, and challenging the sea breeze around the course!

Excellent Fairways, very good greens, horrible range balls
I play this course often. The spring rains and late sun have really improved the fairways over the last 6 weeks. Greens much improved as aerification marks are disappearing. Challenging with varied tees for all skill levels. Biggest issue is the horrendous condition of the range balls and lack of basic maintenance of range after use. The balls are simply the worst balls of any course I have ever played. The range gets used heavily and I don’t understand why they don’t fill in fresh divots to allow for recovery. Basic stuff that should not be an issue for the cost of play and high volume of play this course receives.

Best fairway & Greens during rain!
The course was awesome, rained two days before and the same day I played, there was no standing water at all on the fairway and greens. Great!

Great round but greens are slow cause of aeration
Great challenging course cause of the consistent windy condition. Played the black course and it was challenging. Enjoyed every part of the experience. The staff is fantastic. 5 Star!!!

Just a heads up they have the front nine closed to work on the greens. Love this course but, probably best to give it a few weeks.

Freeze Damage
Freeze damaged or killed most palm trees, aesthetics therefore were below normal but the course showed little degradation. Greens were fast and tight. Looking forward to the summer months when she’s back at 100%. Right now twilight hours pricing is tremendous at under $50 for 18 and a cart. Still one of the best for the money and love of the game. And twilight begins at 1:10pm.
