Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort
About Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort
Tapatio Springs is a modest-sized resort in the small Hill Country town of Boerne, located north of San Antonio. The 18-hole golf course, formerly 27 holes, underwent an extensive renovation and redesign project at the hands of Tripp Davis in 2015 to create an updated experience for golfers. Off-course amenities at this resort include a brand new clubhouse, home to the La Cascada Table & Bar, a social hub for the resort and local community. Owned by musician George Strait, the property features a singer-songwriter live music series on weekends.Facts

par for the course
The course is in wonderful condition . The course has the potential of being far or a bear depending on your skill level . The staff are all very nice and accommodating , made me feel at home . I would recommend that every one visit this gem in the hill Country
Great round with my son!
Course was great, greens were a little spotty, weather was amazing, views were fantastic and best of all was the time I spent with my son.
First Timer
The course has an unusual layout, but the change was welcome. The club house was immaculate and the staff as friendly as they come. Our only issues were with the greens. They were aerated, and we could have lived with that, but they seem to be suffering from some kind of disease, and or extremely under watering, and they had a lot of extremely ruff spots as well. Some times more damaged terrain than playable green. They were in real bad shape.
Great Layout
The course was in great shape due to the rains, but the greens need a little work. Other than that it was great. Went to the bar after my round and the prices were too high on the draft beer. The staff was really friendly.
Great views
Overall the course and amenities are great the range is awesome but the greens Were in horrible shape.
the course has an interesting design
I thought the course had some great hole layout and it is apparent that they are working to improve the condition of the course, but it still needs a lot of TLC.
Beautiful views from every hole.
As newcomers to the area and to the course, we found an outstanding facility at which to play. And enjoyed the course thoroughly. It only lacked in directional signing that would have helped navigate the course easier, and the cart mounted GPS wasn't working. If you put it out there it should work. Nonetheless, Hubby will be back tomorrow to best it again.
Under repair
Fairways in decent shape. But greens were pretty bad. Being re-sodded on several holes, grass was long. Many of the other greens had inconsistent rolls and damage.
Beautiful and getting better
This course is getting better year by year under the new ownership. Several greens were under repair this time which made them tough to play and there was other repair going on in several places. A price I am willing to pay for a course to get better.
Nice Amenities
Pleasant staff and a great 19th hole. The greens were being sanded and repaired, and the first and second holes on the lakes course also were being worked on. After they're finished I would love to see this course again. I had a great time and will enjoy lunch next time.
Very Poor Greens
I purchased 2 green fees on line at a substantial discount and it was a good thing... the greens were in awful condition, and the tee boxes were not cut. If I had paid the full price of $75 I would have stopped playing and demanded a refund. The course layout is beautiful, but the condition is completely opposite to the reputation it has. Very disappointed.
Beautiful
We had a great time. The green could have been in a little better shape but overall it was great!
I would recommend, but with reservations.
This is a remote but beautiful resort. It was worth the ride from San Antonio just for the scenery. The golf course, however, is a work in progress. Two holes were closed for repair, which caused confusion on the course and on the scorecard. Almost every green was in poor condition. Several holes required long tee carries uphill over ravines, so not women-friendly in that regard. On a positive note, the staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We would recommend this course for the overall experience, but note that the golf experience itself wasn't up to par.
Friendly staff
When I made tee time through golf now. When I got to the course the staff let us know about the course condition
It was very helpful.
Not a resort course
We thought we found a deal, but we're terribly disappointed when we started. 1/3 of the holes were closed and the remaining were not worth playing. The greens didn't have grass and the tee boxes were uneven. I will never play that course again.
Bad green conditions
I've played this course many times. Over the recent months the condition has gotten worse. The green conditions were aweful with uneven and often half sand and no grass.
Facilities are great as well as most tee boxes and fairways. Just a shame that can't get it right when it comes to the greens. Huge disappointment. Won't play there again for quite a while
very poor shape
this course was in very poor condition. it was not worth the time money oreffort.
This coure was very good, but poor this time and this year
The green is a disaster, no grasses but grass seeds.
Fairway grass is also very bad, this course was very good last year, but this year???
Pay at your own risk! Extremely Disappointed! Save your money and go elsewhere!
Let me start off with the good things about my experience at Tapatio. The staff was very friendly and the range, although nothing elaborate, was a good opportunity to warm up in a decent environment. But this is where the good ends.
There was (as far as I could see), no good practice putting and chipping area. The only one I saw was next to the "closed" 9, and as a first timer at this course, I was unaware of this. I was with my fiancee and attempting to chip and putt before my round, only to hit about two chips and two putts, pick up the ball and say "This is worthless, this won't help anything". The green and chipping area was in such horrible shape, attempting to practice at all would have only hindered my game.
The course itself wasn't any better. The layout, in my opinion, was very mediocre at best. If I didn't want to, I don't think I would have had to hit a single driver or 3-wood off of the tees. None of the tee boxes were mowed (and this was at about 2:30 in the afternoon), but the grounds crew were out on the course in the middle of the afternoon mowing the greens, interrupting the rate of play. I've worked on a golf course as a maintenance guy for two summers while in college, and I do not remember having the mowers on the greens or tees so late in the afternoon. This was a job that was done at 6 a.m prior to the start of the golf day. This is me being picky, but it is only because it was compounded by the fact that the course was in such horrible condition.
The fairways were not fairways. The only thing I can think of is "cow pasture", but for a "resort" course, this is unacceptable. The greens however were far far worse. I can only remember there being one green that was not completely lost. The greens were dirt, black, bumpy, hairy (in the few areas there actually was grass) and impossible to get a true roll. I was very disappointed for the obvious reasons, but also because I had just replaced my old putter grip with a Super Stroke grip and was extremely excited to try it out. I never had a real opportunity to do so and this was extremely disappointing.
I could continue to go on about the course but I'm hoping what I have said so far gets my point across. The staff was very nice and helpful, and if I had actually paid for this round myself (used a giftcard from my in laws) I probably would have asked for at least half of my money back. The round, for twilight, on a weekday cost me $55. If it had been prime time on the weekend, it would have cost $72 or more. I just have one quick recommendation for the course's powers that be. If the course is in such horrible condition and you are working on getting it back to where it should be, I understand, but you CANNOT charge that much money for such a horrible track to play on. That round was worth, at most, $15-$20.
Perhaps the superintendent will get the course back in shape, but I say, "play at your own risk".
Terrible Greens
It would be nice to know before playing at Tapatio Springs that their greens were in such terrible shape. On all except a few holes, the greens were so bad, it was impossible to putt, which made for a very frustrating day.
