About The Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe

The 154-room, LEED-certified Lodge at Edgewood debuted in June 2017, completing a long-term vision to have a lakeside lodge to accompany the famed Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, a George Fazio design that hugs the lake and serves as the home of the American Century Championship, a made-for-TV celebrity golf tournament every July. Families can bounce between the hot tubs and heated pool to the small beach on the lake. The wall of windows in the three-story great room overlooks an events lawn of outdoor fire pits and ample spaces for children to run free. Although the hotel's restaurants are great, Brooks' Bar & Deck at the golf clubhouse overlooks the lake and the 18th green, a setting that can't be beat.

A rough winter in Tahoe

I've played Edgewood 4-5 times now, and I"ve come to realize that it's tougher than it looks. You just won't score well, despite the dozen or so holes that dog-leg to the right. All the greens are either 1, elevated. 2, surrounded by bunkers, 3, sloped to make it hard to hit it close to the hole.

Unfortunately, with a brutal winter, the fairways were in rough shape in certain spots. The superintendent promised everything would be in order for the American Century Championship next month, but a few paying customers might not be happy about paying high green fees leading into the event. I debated bumping Edgewood down to four stars for this fact, but I'll give the staff at Edgewood the benefit of the doubt that things will continue to improve every day now that the sun is finally shining. This is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Outstanding architecture with lake views to match

Top line: come for the lake views and high national ranking, stay for the unique architecture and variety of shots

Had the pleasure of playing an early morning round at Edgewood and was blown away. From the obvious of the lake views and exceptional conditions to the subtle of the way different holes required a wide variety of shots, and how deceptive the greens are. The way the routing cuts through pines, and ends up right along the Lake it is a true delight!

Bottom line: worth traveling to Tahoe just to play this course.

Terrible customer service

Expensive course that we all looked forward to playing on a bachelor weekend trip. A freak weather storm came through at the beginning of our round cutting it way short. Requested at least a partial refund so that we can reinvest in playing the course at a later date. Tried getting ahold of Randy, the course manager, and never received a call back. For $260, you'd think they'd give you some of that money back for a terrible time with terrible weather so we can reschedule another day to play. Customer service was terrible when I initially asked for it after ending my round. I'll never play there again and word of mouth on my end will go a long way.

Such a gorgeous challenge

After several years of transition and construction, Edgewood Tahoe is ready to take its place among the best resorts in golf. The new luxurious lodge, scheduled to open June 14, gives golfers the ultimate place to relax on the southern shores of Lake Tahoe. Last year, Edgewood Tahoe revealed its new ninth hole, its fourth hole directly on the lake. The lodge and its new lawn (replacing the old parking lot) are a part of this new great scene.

Playing the course never gets old. I've still not solved a few holes, namely the risk-reward par-5 18th hole. Someday I hope to be putting for eagle like the celebrities in the American Century Championship do every July.

Great course on Lake Tahoe

What a buetiful course off the shores of Lake Tahoe. They play the American Centuary celebrity pro golf tournament. The course has been open since 1968 and is truly the eighth wonder of the world. The courses facilities and resort is very nice right on the California/Nevada state line. The course is was in great shape. The course layout isn't anything amazing but the lake being right there is obviously great. The greens where fast and I loved the beaches right there on the lake. The clubhouse is buetiful and the staff will shine your shoes and ask if you need anything. With green fees esceeding 250$ you just definitely play in the off season. Definitely reccomend doing a stay and play at the resort.

Overall one of my favorite courses in the Lake Tahoe area.

Love the lake the Tahoe

I debated long and hard if Edgewood deserved five-star status. I wasn't blown away by the entire collection of holes. The par 3s were all similar shots - at least from the white tees we played - and the parade of dogleg rights was a bit of overkill.

Then I started adding up the other pluses - 1, An amazing clubhouse with a great patio for post-round drinks; 2, Challenging greens as fast as I've ever played; 3, A beautiful setting with towering pines and snow-capped mountains as a backdrop; 4, A televised tournament, the American Century Championship, that attracts plenty of A-list athletes and celebrities; and 5, Three finishing holes on some of the most expensive real estate in America - Lake Tahoe.

That adds up to a magical golf experience that can't be replicated anywhere. That's the definition of bucket-list golf.

Spectacular settings

Up there with pebble beach and Samoset. One drawback were the four guys in front is playing from the wrong tees for their skill level which caused our round to approach five fours! Expected to lose many balls with all the water. But the fairways are generously proportioned and lost only one ball when I went pin hunting and just missed and bounced up into water by a green.

Nice views but over rated

Greens were not consistent, holes 8&9 had very slow greens, the balance of the greens were moderate. Very pretty views of mountains and Lake Tahoe.. Fairways cut very short and roll a long way making drives and fairway shots go further.

Yes, greens 8&9 were bad. But starter explained they had been cut too short for the American century pro am in July. They're coming back as we will one day

Classic golf in pristine setting

I still don't think this course gets its just due. Laid out in one of the most stunning settings in the world, Edge Tahoe is one of my all-time favorites. I hear from time to time that the layout isn't that special, but I remember every hole from start to finish. All the par 3 and par 5s are entirely different from one another, which is rare on any golf course. The 16th, for example, with the tree in the middle and a series of difficult greenside bunkers opening up to Lake Tahoe, is one of the best par 5s in the world. Add in excellent conditioning during peak season, a great clubhouse and those terrific brats at the turn, and you've got a world-class golf experience.

Picture perfect setting, classic Fazio design

There is a reason the celebs love playing Edgewood Tahoe: seems like dang near every hole is dogleg right, making it a slicer's dream.

But in all seriousness, the setting couldn't be better. It's a classic father-and-son Fazio design that showcases spectacular Tahoe views and tall pines. The clubhouse dining and bar area is superb, and the cart gals know how to make a fine bloody mary. I will never visit the south shore in the summertime without stopping by here, even if it's just for a drink at the clubhouse.

It's really a perfect resort course (even if it's not technically at a resort) minutes from all the big south shore casino hotels.

the course is in great shape but it is pricey

i love this course, i have played it multiple times. Its in great shape always at least when i have played it, but it is a bit of money to play. I would say if you have not played it, its worth it to go play.
