Cacapon Resort State Park

Strict 90 degree rule means immaculate fairways. Lots of sand, some water, overall decently challenging for a 12 handicap. Greens had just been aerated so I can’t comment on them too much. Overall great layout and condition. Being basically on the side of a mountain there’s a lot of elevation change in the back nine. Pro shop runs a tight ship, the day was nice so wanted to play another 18 but was turned down due to high traffic. Will be back.

Played Cacapon aug 11. Best shape I've seen in a few years, and I've played it several times. Greens were perfect. The rest of the course was outstanding.

Really enjoyed my round yesterday. I played as a single behind a foursome but pace was great. The fairways and greens are in great shape. Looking forward to my next round there!

Cacapon was a favorite of mine for many years. It has a good layout, wonderful natural beauty and has always been a good value. The course had suffered for a few years from bad management, maintenance and conditions. All those things have bern fixed. The course superintendent has taken an unplayable course and is making it a great one to play again. The bunkers are a work in progress and the fairways could be cut a bit lower ( it had rained for days) but the greens and collars are excellent again. Whoever the new superintendent is.... pay him to keep him.

Course was in decent shape, staff was super friendly. Only recommendation would be to pack bug spray, had a few different holes when I wished I had some.

This course might seem open for the first few holes. But once you get into the mountains fairways get a bit tighter. But beautiful course & really well taken care of! Had a group of 5 that we eventually caught up too but the ranger split them up into 2 groups which was awesome to see! Greens were great & tough to read (but I'm new to golf lol). I would recommend if anyone hasn't played here to at least go once, you'll love it.

This is a nice playable course. Although very long from the forward tees - 6500 yards. Not sure why they can't make that distance shorter. This is the longest distance I have ever played from the forward tees. That being said, the course is very playable. Not too many hazards and the scenery surrounding the course is very pretty. The problem we had was extremely slow play. Part of this was due to the fact that the course allowed 4-somes and 2-somes to be intermixed - causing the 2-somes to have to wait interminably for the 4-somes they were wedged in between. My suggestion is that the course pair up the 2-somes to minimize this situation. We quit after 9 holes since the wait in between shots was becoming unbearable which we all know can ruin a game of golf. So besides the wait we liked the course.

This course is always in great condition and always a blast to play. They’ve always had fluffy green and now they’re shorter and more challenging. You can’t beat the price and season passes are something I’m truly interested in. Staff is friendly and social. Best range in the area, when it’s open.. non-availability of the range is the only complaint I have. They close it too early and it’s closed a lot of the time.

What a spectacular setting for this amazing layout! We had so much fun on a busy Father’s Day yet still had a 4 hour round. Be sure to eat at the Lodge after your game and be sure to try the cream of crab soup. Delicious! (a splash of sherry is my only suggestion) Cacapon State Park Resort should be a golf destination for everyone. We’re committed to a visit again soon with several golfing friends that includes an overnight at the lodge.
