Course in disrepair
Have strong kidneys; the cart paths haven't had maintenance in many years. The fairways and roughs are INfrequently mowed (poorly), the "staff" knows little to nothing about operations and can't even restock men's room paper towels or was the carts. What was once probably a good playing course is now terrible and not worth even the $38 fee.
Rain
Only was able to play 3 holes and was rained out. Could only receive a nine hole rain out pass!
Much better
The actual playing course is 10 times better than it was a couple of years ago. If they fix the cart paths it makes the course a solid 6.5.
Better than expected
Course is trying to make a comeback from the past. Fairways and greens were in good shape. Tee boxes fair. Greenside bunkers terrible....dirt and mud. Should be filled in if not maintained. Good value, good layout, a good day of golf.
Decent conditions
A lot of the greens are in need of repair and the rough was very un-kept. Our group lost a few ball’s just in the first cut. Staff is friendly and helpful but there isn't a beer cart and we could have used it.
Farm course
This course is not very well maintained! Greens are in horrible shape. Cart paths are rough and will beat the crap out of you. Not to mention the swamps and mud holes in the fairways! I do not recommend
Good course
Course is looking a lot better overall the past couple years. Definitely best I’ve seen this year. Greens are the only really bad part. There are a lot of dead bumps on most of them, but they are still kind of puttable. That’s the reason for 3 star conditions. Other than that, fairways are in good shape and so is the rough. Challenging course and fun layout.
Course in terrible condition with worse staff
While the course layout shows signs of a good original design, it’s clear that maintenance has been completely neglected. The greens are in terrible shape — patchy, bumpy, and often bare of grass — making putting frustrating and unpredictable.
Worse than the course conditions was the staff. After avoiding a completely flooded cart path (for obvious safety reasons), we were removed from the course without warning and denied any refund. The tone was rude and unprofessional throughout.
Do yourself a favor and play at Mountaineer Golf Club instead — much better upkeep and a staff that actually treats you with respect.
It’s good and going to be better
Drought conditions really hurt the greens last season. They are starting to fill back in and I’m gonna guess in a month the conditions (other than the cart paths, but seriously just drive around the potholes) are gonna be excellent. Fairways and tees nice
Disappointing
The layout for this course is mediocre. I like the front nine okay. The back nine leaves something to be desired. There are 4 holes on the back nine that are challenging and made more difficult because they are poorly maintained. The traps on the course have no sand and the rough is difficult. The maintenance of the cart paths is lacking. They do have GPS in the carts.
Old Mountain View What Happened To You
Many years ago I used to play here a few times a year. I always preferred it to Lakeview because it was whiter and still in good condition. Now, it’s just a poorly maintained course that is cheap to play that is frequented by groups who play slowly. A few of the greens are simply awful. Others are fine. A few of the cart paths are as bad as the roads in Morgantown. Treacherous potholes. There is value here if you get a cheap rate and a time that is not busy. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the summer league sounds like fun.
course has potential
course is a good layout, greens are like putting on a wash board
