Lakeview Golf Resort

Course has been neglected for far too long. Needs a miracle and a lot of $$$ to revive it. Best thing they’ve done was drop midweek price to 20 bucks. At least then I could somewhat justify the 8 inch rough, no tee markers, crab grass fairways, and divot ridden greens. But hey at least they have new t-shirt merch in the pro shop!! What a joke lol

We played as a foursome so 2 carts with 2 people on each. Mine and my partner's cart died on the 7th hole, we called the pro-shop and they had no carts available to run out to us. We had to go in neutral and get pushed the last 2 holes. When we got done with the front and were making the turn, there still were no carts so we decided to leave and didn't even get to play the back. A normal municipal course running out of carts on a Saturday in August with perfect weather, understandable. A resort running out of carts doesn't make any sense to me. To top it all of they didn't even have water bottles for sale and their selection of "snacks" looked like the back of your grandmother's cabinet that she hasn't opened for 5 years.

Over the last four years, this course has been on a downward spiral. the Fringe is taking over by weeks. Even though we have had record rainfall recently, the fairway had dead spots. The greens were bumpy due to so many untreated ball marks. Bunkers needed weed eated around and raked.

What once used to be a great course is no longer.

Used to be a great spot. Downhill since. Need to put time back into maintenance.

This course needs some TLC. Has so much potential. I would not play this course full price, but if you catch a deal it’s worth it.

I really don’t have much to add that hasn’t already been said. I find it laughable when I read the responses from Lakeview management that they are in the process of fixing it up. These responses have been out there for a few years now and things just keep getting worse. I certainly don’t blame the employees as I think this is more an issue with ownership. I encourage you to go back and look at the reviews from 2018-prior. Mostly very favorable. However, since then it is simply a parade of disparaging reviews. Unfortunately, at this point the course looks to be well beyond repairs. I would imagine that play is significantly down. What a shame.

I have played here a lot over the last few years, I’d say the course is in good shape compared to years passed. Greens and fairways were good but the tee boxes and rough were in bad shape. Men’s restroom was out of order so had to use locker room, never going to not use that space now. Had an 8:10 tee time and front 9 was great. However got to turn and two groups jumped on to 10 and slowed my pace of play considerably. Ended up having to not play last 3 holes because I had someplace to be 1pm and was concerned I’d miss it. That is how slow these groups who went off the back instead of front. Someone needs to be watching this as many people said the same thing in reviews, I’ll be back but based on this last experience and what others are saying only at discounted rates. Even early tee times can’t get around course in reasonable time.

I have played the lakeview course in the past many times because I own a timeshare. The course used to be a decent resort course but it has gone downhill, way down hill. The fairways are cluttered with weed that are higher than the grass. Lots of fairways with dead grass and dirt spots. Greens were not cut and many had diseased grass. Cart Paths looked like the Russians landed a missile, you had to drive in the grass, or dirt the cart paths were impassable. Crab grass was growing in the sand traps and it was amazing that the traps had standing water and it hadn't rained for a week. Not worth the price to play the course or for that matter stay in the hotel, but that's another story for another site.

DO NOT PLAY HERE. GRASS NOT CUT GREENS IN BAD SHAPE OWNERS DO NOT TAKE CARE OF THIS COURSE AND THEY DONT CARE. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!

It used to be a great course but obviously the owners do not care about it anymore. It’s a shame another golf course is being neglected.

This course was in awful condition. It used to be a very beautiful course with some challenging holes and great scenery. The greens are burnt and patchy. The rough is awful! The grass needs to be cut. It is a shame you lose a ball when it goes off the fairway and it’s in the rough and you can’t find it cause the grass is a jungle. A group of us used to go there every year for 2 days and play both courses and it was one of the best kept courses in Morgantown. I will never go back I asked the girl in the pro shop about the owner and she told me he’s from India and they have been trying to reach him about maintaining the course. Said they haven’t heard from him. Obviously another great course destroyed by people who don’t care. DO NOT PLAY HERE IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY!!!!

I played Lakeview regularly in college 15-20 years ago. This was my first round back since then, and I forgot how spoiled I was getting to play here. For a public course, I think the layout here from tee to green rivals almost any course I’ve played.

It starts out with 2 gettable holes early then tightens up and toughens up considerably through the middle of the front 9. The 7th is a downhill par 5 with easily 200 feet of elevation change and an awesome view from the tee. Closes with a drivable par 4 on the 9th.

The 10th is a great par 4 with an undulating fairway and framed by bunkers. From the approach on 11 thru 13 and on 17 the course opens back up. Then comes 14-16, which is a really tough, tight stretch of holes (pars 5, 4, then 3) and my favorite on the course. The tee shots are all down shoots like you see at Augusta and you better hit it solid! Then the monstrous 18th. 600 on the card but plays closer to 650-700 depending where the pin is.

Great green complexes, awesome layout. A little rough around the edges, tees and bunkers could use some work in spots but the shot value and views more than make up for that. Its a toughie, but can’t say enough good things about the course!!

The layout of the course seems to be a good course with good views but sadly everything that could go wrong with managing this course did. The tiny club house had no food and a small snack selection. One of our electric carts ran out of juice on 17. Every tee box and fairway was overgrown with GIANT clumps of crab grass and had clearly not been mowed in at least 2 weeks. Most bunkers had been left to be filled with grass and the few that weren’t were un playable. The greens were decimated. I imagine in its hay day this was a great course but now it’s not worth near the money they are charging.

Play was slow and should have had someone out speeding up slow play

Staff was super. Course has a great lay out but is not in the best of shape. The cart paths are bad and several tee boxes were in bad shape. Greens were good but had several that had bad spots. Overall, a fun course to play and fairly priced but not in the condition I am used to seeing it in.
