Great sand traps need groomed

This course and mountainview used to be great.... they are now awful. Lakeview is the premier course with mountainview being less nice sister course. If you want to play lakeview on a weekend it will cost about $75. I wouldn’t pay $20 to play a course in this condition. The employees act like it’s in great shape and a hidden gem, 15 years ago that was true now it’s complete trash. I was terribly disappointed they let a beautiful course fall into unplayable shambles. The next day I tried out mountainview and the person working the counter recognized me. He wouldn’t even accept my money, let me play for free because of how terrible it was. In the back to back days I spent on the courses I didn’t see a single person working on anything, not a single lawn mower running. It’s a shame but find somewhere else.

My initial review of this days experience at Lakeview was a result of me jumping to conclusions about the interface of Golf Now ant Lakeview reservations.

This facility has always been great to me. The Staff is friendly and caring and the experiences have been outstanding.

The course has been in good shape through a tough year and while every course needs some attention to some areas of play, overall they do a nice job.

I want to apologize to the staff and management of the resort as a result of my intemperate review as it was the rantings of a frustrated golfer on a frustrating day rained out by the golf gods.

I would hope that I can eventually have my initial review removed.

Have made many tee times at this course through golf now.

The wouldn’t reschedule our round because it was made through golf now.

The course should have closed because of heavy rain. It was unplayable.

Will never book this course or through golf now again.

I don't have very many good things to say about this course other than its 5 minutes from my house so I mainly only play it out of convenience. Conditions are bad, plain and simple. Greens are in rough shape (they change pin locations maybe once or twice a week). Fairways are decent however very undulating so a ball that lands in the fairway may end up in the rough. As for the rough, its patchy in places and non existent in others. Bunkers are okay. If you live in the area its convenient but I wouldn't travel to play this course. Greens need significant improvement.

Played here back in the day when it was a hidden gem. Was expecting the same but wow, not the case. Greens were horrendous. Burned out patches on first couple of greens and still not fully recovered from an earlier aerification. Too many courses in the tri-state area are in awesome condition this time of the year. Avoid this course. What a shame. Quit after two holes that’s how bad the course condition was, particularly the greens. Sad thing is, I had to eat the cost of the greens fee as the golf pro claimed the course conditions were “amazing” and “fantastic.”

I have played this course many times in my life but it had been a couple years since i last played i was excited to get to play until after i teed off the fairways had hardly and grass and the greens had even less. I was very disappointed to say the least there was o for in club house just a couple of sodas. the carts were beat up broken windshield and just over all upsetting

I took a friend from out of town and was embarrassed I suggested Mountainview. I have played this track many times and it used to be a high quality course with a few quirky holes, but always had, fast, well manicured greens. Today they were basically unplayable. Green sand, bald spots and craters made the greens run about 3 on the stimpmeter. The tee boxes and fairways were shaggy but playable. Cart path is beat. Overall it needs a lot of work. It's a shame to see it in such disrepair. On the bright side we played in 3 hours because no one was there.

It’s tough to see... I have loved this course for years. But, the course conditions do not reflect the price of a round. It’s probably tough to take care of greens and other course characteristics when it’s etched into the side of a mountain. But, there just seems more a lack of care for the quality of the course. Hope it reevaluates price, improves greens.

Course is not among the better courses in Western PA & Notthern WV. Tee boxes were sand, rough was not cut nor groomed, bunkers were not good and several greens were recently plugged. Last played this course About 10 years ago and today I was disappointed to find the course in this kind of shape. I understand there is new ownership and hopefully they can restore the Lakeside Course to its original condition. The course has a nice layout and great views with some holes overlooking Cheat Lake and the mountain valleys.

This course is a great track, especially for the value, but it has been overrun with neglect. Even at the beginning of the season, it was an absolute steal especially compared to Lakeview...but now, I’d rather play one of the cheaper courses in town so I can at least get a decent hitting surface.

Some holes are better than others, but those others include equally overgrown and dead fairways, damaged greens, and ugly tee boxes.

Plus, the filled-in bunkers are past GUR — they’re ground perpetually under repair.

What a beautiful course! The staff are really helpful and easy to work with. Cassidy, the supervisor was knowledgeable and great to work with. I traveled from Ohio and wanted to play while I was out of town. Setting up a tee time over the phone was simple and easy. Even though I arrived a few minutes late they were chill and let me get out right away. I even forgot a jacket a cigar clip holder and they went to look for each on my behalf.

The course seems to have a lot of potential but in its current state, the course is in very poor condition. I would highly recommend playing elsewhere. Hopefully next summer will be better; but it needs A LOT of work.
