Great condition
Have golfed this coarse for 20 plus years and now that it's under new ownership it is in the best condition I've ever golfed it. Cart paths need a little work yet but fairways and greens are in great shape
Horribly slow
The course is very rough with little or no attention other than grass cutting. I could live with that if the pace of play was at least reasonable. 5 hours is just too long and too painful.
US Open Rough. 2.0 stimpmeter greens.
First of all, the gentleman at the pro shop counter was great. The course, not so great. Needs better signage between greens and tees. The rough was so long that it was really difficult to find a ball. When you did, it wrecks your wrist and hands to get out of it. I know what you’ll say, stay out of the rough. Not so easy when most fairways are 20 yards wide. When you do get on the green, use a 4 iron instead of your putter. I hit a 20 foot putt that went 10 feet and I hit it hard. This course has great potential. It just needs someone to mow the grass now and then.
If you are looking for a ball placement course where you have to think your way around, where you have to shape your shots, use the slopes to your advantage, and adjust to elevation changes, this is one for you. Now that I have the first experience under my belt, I will know better next time how to navigate. The course is being rehabilitated under new management and they are desperate for some rain, the all day, all night soaker. There is only so much sprinklers can do and the grounds team is not deliberately running it into the ground. Mother nature is avoiding this course at the moment.
Rough Diamond
Cherry Hills is one of the most interesting layouts I have played, with many thinking holes. There are more places that require a layup, either off the tee or on a second shot than so many courses that call for bombs away. The course conditions let down the layout. Weather has been dry, and it appears that there has not been enough watering to maintain conditions. A little TLC could make this a truly outstanding track.
First time
Booked GolfNow Hot Deal. For $16 it was worth it. Glad I was following someone. Course was poorly marked and hard to find some tee boxes. Greens and tee boxes nice, fairways poor.
Baked out!
Super dry! Conditions! Hard to manage! Tee boxes poor! Back hurts very bumpy Catt paths!
Cherry Hills is Hily
Lots of changes in elevation made the course difficult because it was very dry and the ball would run down slopes. The corse has some interesting holes. There is some sand but only one water hazard. Tees and greens were watered fairways were dried out with areas of brown grass. The greens putted slow but the reads were easy.
Good and bad
Fast round in 3:30. Course is bumpy for driving. Some holes in the trees are terrific, while most are pedestrian. The rough is not thick but is high enough to lose balls right near the fairway.
Fun Course
The ownership is working hard to make this challenging layout a fun time. I take advantage of this deal as often as possible and always look forward to playing this course. Keep up the good work!!
Good Course, Good Service
We've been playing this course for many years. Miss all the cherry trees it once had. It is still a pretty course to play. The hills and the tall grass areas off the fairways make it a challenge. Greens were slower than we're use to, but not bad. Finished around 1:30 and restaurant did not open until 4 p.m., otherwise we would have stayed to eat.
Fun course, very playable. Greens were really slow, but it did rain the morning I was there. I've played this course the last couple of years, and they've done a great job with it.
Challenging course
This is a great course to practice your uphill and downhill lyes. The name says it all. Lots of hills but fun course and back nine was really pretty
You get what you pay for
My wife & I were looking to play a round while on vacation and the price at Cherry Hills was very good. Check in was efficient & friendly as were the other golfers on the course. This course can be challenging at times as there are several holes (such as # 1) where there's a narrow fairway and a high grass rough in which it's very difficult to find your ball. Overall you get what you pay for. The course conditions aren't great and it doesn't appear much investment is happening. Greens were OK but this is more of a course for a family teaching the kids to golf. Nice folks though.
