Part 3, Chapter 1: Memory Box Defined

  • |

Instructors Pia Nilsson, Lynn Marriott

Every shot has a future, present and past, and the "Play Box" is about how you deal with the past; it's the 10 to 20 seconds after the shot and how you choose to react to it. You can react positively to the shot, you can be negative or you can be neutral/objective. Anything you bring emotion to becomes a stored memory in the brain, and the more emotion that you show, the more this memory sticks in the brain. The brain naturally stores negative memories faster and stronger than positive ones, which is why it's important to react neutral (factual about the shot) or positive to a poor shot, so you don't store up those bad memories. If you don't like the shot, stay neutral, close the door and move on.
