Yes, I am saying the mental picture of the ball path. Lets say the ball will break one cup width from right to left into the hole. Typically you would aim your putter head one cup width to the right of the hole one cup width right. If you are a non-linear putter, you will ALWAYS miss this putt one putter width to the right. YOUR WHOLE LIFE. WHY? Because your eyes do not see straight lines. Your eyes see curved lines. How can you find out what you are? You need to be tested with a laser. Two things. If you live where there is grain (in the south or the west), check the cup for grain, and always look at the ground around you. Not just on the green. Around the green. Are there slopes or mounds? Is it up hill or down hill? Be an investigator. You will find your answer in the surrounding land. If you are then clueless, always remember that distance is more important than direction. If you hit a putt that is 12 inches right or left, but the distance is perfect, you can always make the one foot putt.

Great question! It depends.
The slop and speed of the green plus how hard you hit the putt will deteremne the break. Try to visualize what time you believe the golf ball will fall into the cup.

Believe it or not, I made it on the first attempt. You can tell by the way I kept talking, and it went in. If I had stopped, you could have told it was edited.

On part of the cup, it will look like the grass has been chewed up, maybe browner, ragged. Not clean cut. That is where the grain is GOING. The TOWARDS. If you pulled your putter head across the grass sweeping the grass against it, the grass would come up like you are moving against a wave in the ocean. If you pulled your putter on the grass with the grain, the putter would move really smooth. That means you are going WITH the ggrain. The ball will always roll faster WITH the grain and SLOWER AGAINST the grain.
