When the original 18-hole golf course at Mountain Dell was expanded and a 36-hole facility opened in 1991, the Lake at Mountain Dell Golf Course incorporated the majority of the new holes sculpted out of the Wasatch Mountains by renowned architect William H. Neff and PGA Tour consultant Mike Reid.
The Lake Course at Mountain Dell features narrow, rolling fairways and dramatic tee shots over deep ravines and water, which place a premium on precision and accuracy. Using the natural terrain, many holes on the golf course are carved out of the scrub oak and native bushes while providing breathtaking views and strategic challenges.
The Lake course at Mountain Dell is situated at 6,000 feet above sea level, so long hitters can go for the par-4 fourth green, which measures 371 yards from the blue tees and 310 yards from the whites. It is a picturesque, dramatic, risk-reward opportunity that ranks as one of the most memorable holes on the golf course.
The Lake Course measures 6,709 yards from the black tees. Par is 71 for both men and women.

Not a fan of the Lake course
I've played this course a few times and I'm not a fan. The Canyon course is much better.
I hate the layout, too much driving in between holes going across the bridge 4 times - just a waste of time and not efficient at all.. The cart path is in terrible shape. And the "Lake" isn't much of a Lake, so the name doesn't even match. I would pass on this and do the Canyon course or something else altogether.
Mountain Dell Lake is Sweet
This is a wonderful municipal golf course. Located just ten minutes up the canyon from downtown Salt Lake City, the Lake Course at Mountains Dell makes you feel like you are playing one of the big dollar private courses another twenty minutes up the canyon around Park City. The putting surfaces and fairways are immaculate, the layout is excellent, especially for a municipal course priced at under $40, and the scenery including wildlife is a wonderful bonus. Overall, a great value and wonderful retreat close to the city especially when the temps are in the 80s during the summer when it is pushing 100 in Salt Lake City.
Bring A LOT Of Golf Balls With You!
This course was tough from the start - the first hole is headed downhill and there are huge bushes and trees lining the sides. If you mishit, your ball is good as gone on quite a few holes.
Lots of downhill play which means you have to rethink your clubs A LOT. It was definitely challenging - I haven't gone running back to play Mountain Dell because this course whipped me. I definitely need to brush up on some of my skills.
The views are stunning and it's fun to be up in the mountains playing golf, though.
If you're lucky, you might even catch a moose or two walking around in the distance.
I'd say definitely worth playing if you want to golf the mountains and don't want to pay too much!
Great Muni with views and challenge for all level players
the Lake course at Mt Dell provides great scenery, on well maintained fairways and greens on the rolling hills of Parleys Canyon. Great signature holes over lakes and gulches, elevated tee boxes, make this a fun course to play. Nice compliment to the tighter Canyon course.
