Pearl Valley Golf & Country Estate

Very nice scenery really enhances this course plus the non golfing facilities - bar, restaurant, spa etc.

The course itself is very well maintained and rarely busy apart from Saturday mornings were you can still find a very warm welcome from the membership. Buggy only course (no caddies).

Typical Nicklaus course with generous bunkers, big greens etc.

I only could squeeze in nine holes at Pearl Valley after the long drive through the mountains from Arabella, where I played all 18 that morning. I did tour the final nine holes, so my final verdict would be this: If you want to have fun, lean toward Arabella. If you want a championship test, head to Pearl Valley. Jack Nicklaus built a tough track in a flat valley surrounded by mountains. When there's a hazard like a pond or lake on one side, chances are there's a slew of bunkers on the other, pinching the fairway dangerously tight. The course hosted the South African Open from 2007-09, proving Peal Valley can play tournament tough. The signature par-5 fourth hole crosses a meandering creek three times before players reach the green. Good luck staying dry.
