Terrible Staff
Extremely disappointing experience. We arrived about 10 minutes before our tee time after getting stuck in traffic because of an accident. Despite arriving before our scheduled time, the cashier took roughly 10 minutes to process our payment, taking her sweet time, and then another 5 minutes to get our clubs and everything into the cart. By the time we actually reached the tee, we were late — largely because of the course’s own slow check-in process.
The starter then told us we had to skip the first hole because the couple we were paired with was finishing up. We politely asked if we could simply play the first hole, and instead of trying to understand the situation, the starter gave us an attitude and a lecture about how strict they are about arriving on time. Apparently that rule only applies to customers and not to the staff taking 15+ minutes to get us checked in and into a cart.
The whole operation feels like it’s being run by people who are completely disconnected from their customers. What made it even more ridiculous was that the couple we were paired with had their BABY with them in a stroller on a links-style course. They were genuinely nice people, so this isn't directed at them, but it’s hard to understand how the course can accommodate that while refusing to show any understanding toward customers who were delayed by traffic and then further delayed by the course itself.
This is a 9-hole course that costs around $45 with a cart, and there were open tee times even on a weekend. On top of that, while we were playing, there was nobody on the hole behind us or even two holes behind us. So clearly there was room on the course and no legitimate reason why we couldn’t have played the first hole.
For $45 for nine holes, I expect at least basic customer service and common sense. Instead, we got an unnecessarily hostile experience over a situation that the course itself contributed to. Absolutely would not recommend.
Not friendly
Worst course management and by far worse course in New England! Got paired up with a husband and wife that had a baby with them. Never seen that before but the couple were nice. We were late by 5 min and the starter told us to go to second hole. It's a PAR 3 1st hole, you can't just let us tee off?!!!...smh. No one was behind us you idiot . We would have been in time had your Cashier knew how to do her job getting a gift card for the lady in front of me.
Pace
Slow play with several beginners, including players in our group. 2-1/2 hours for nine holes. No food & beverage. Mostly players with pull carts, some walking bags, some carts. Greens are well sized but blemished.
Best quick 9
I always enjoy this layout and a quick 9.
The ranger will let slow players know to pick up the pace, which is a plus.
Not competitive rates
Sassamon no longer offers discounts for a second membership in the family. For over 20 years they offered a discounted rate for a spouse plan, but this year it was eliminated behind closed doors. Sassamon charges Natick residents almost the same rate at golfers that don’t reside in Natick. Natick residents pay large real estate taxes which should mean lower greenhouse gas emissions fees than non residents. Someone should look at what other municipality golf courses do as a benchmark. Simplifying the annual fees is not the fairest decision for justifying annual or daily fees.
Good greens , fast .
Good conditions for this time of the year , good layout strategic,, choose correct club.
Fun
This course is fun short but fun I shot a 44 first time here the stater was nice paired me up with some cool guys definitely be back 😎
Quiet spot
⛳️ A hidden gem! The first hole opens with a stunning view from the hill, and once you make it to the back, it’s peaceful and quiet near a charming apple orchard. Great spot for a relaxing round of golf. 🍎🌳 #repeatcustomer #goodcustomerservice
Great Value
Course was in good condition, greens were better than expected. New carts.
First time, won’t be the last
Great layout and in great shape. Open links on the hill, tighter with trees out back. Went on a very windy day and being on top of the hill was a challenge, though at my back helped my drive land in the green side bunker on 9.
Not bad
Course is pretty good. Sand traps need some work.
Only real problem was a twosome cut in front of us on the 8th hole. No idea where they came from. They finished the 9th and then proceeded to the first hole. No idea how this happens when there is a starter.
