About
Located in England's southwest near the resort town of Westward Ho!, Royal North Devon Golf Club is England's oldest links club, established in 1864. It was given its "Royal" designation from the Prince of Wales in 1867.
Five-time Open Champion J.H. Taylor grew up and learned the game here, and today the club has the highest number of junior golfers in the country.
The golf course is a very unique one. The land is public and shared with sheep, horses and pedestrians, so it can be a little crazy at times. The course is home to once considered the world's widest bunker, the "Cape" bunker on the fourth hole. Great Searush, a prickly and poisonous bush serves as a formidable hazard, especially on the back nine.
