Gave it another try. Just not for me.
I’ll start by saying this. The course looks great. I do miss when it was sandelie but the layout and off-course amenities are well done. I don’t care for synthetic greens but this course is fantastic for families and beginners. Definitely go here if you’re just learning.
With that said this is just not for me. Came for a pitch and putt practice turned into stacked greens with very little forward movement. So I walked off the course after three holes. Even after playing 2-3 balls just to kill time. I don’t think I’ll be coming back.
Good beginner short game course
Short par 3 course with turf greens and bunkers and mats on the tee box. You really only need 1 or 2 clubs and a putter, it’s a beginner course for golfers of all ages and skill levels. I’d come back if I wanted to focus on my short game or have some fun with friends or family.
First time at Shortland
Mid day, mid week in November and as expected pretty open. Staff was very welcoming and informative on course layout, amenities, course brief history. Tee Matt’s were in great shape, green and bunker layouts are challenging and very appealing. Turf greens were new to me typically faster than grass so make adjustment as ball can run long way down a break. Bunkers play better than expected but don’t allow club to dig in like real sand which helped me LOL. Price is very fair, amenities great. Highly recommend giving Shortland a try.
