Very Muddy and covered with leaves making it difficult to find balls if they are not directly in the fairway
This course is normally in wonderful shape but this time of the year it is extremely muddy.
If your ball is not directly in the fairway, it is difficult to find buried under leaves. One some holes, there are pile sod leaves right next to the green.
Just be ready to have a 4+ hour round. It's 90% seniors and they don't care there are people behind them. Other than that, the place is beautiful. There are real toilets on the course, perfect greens, friendly staff. I always go back and it's a 50 mile drive round trip from Portland.
Well maintained short game course
Course is primarily for short game. Most holes are about 200 yards. There are maybe 3 total holes that are about 320yards. Perfect for fair woods and iron clubs. Fairways are green and mowed short, so there’s no tall rough to worry about. It will hard to lose balls except if landed in the water. Paces could be a bit slow but that’s because of the 4somes in front of us. Very relax course to sharpen your short game
A favorite course
I got a great deal through teeoff.com. I played alone--very surprising considering the perfect weather and the bargain price offer. Foursomes in front of me on each 9 let me play through, and I was done in 3 hours. The tee areas and fairways were pretty chopped up , the greens were excellent. On most of the holes, the blue and white tees were the same.
Enjoyable round
Really enjoyed the course. First time. A little intimidated by how close some homes were to fairways. Didn’t realize that none of the holes are very long until actually got on the course. Would have like a few longer holes. Driver pretty much stayed in the bag. Not knowing in advance is on me. It is a very nice course.
Staff was very friendly and helpfull. Course in in good condition and greens are very good. Nice course but not challenging. Enjoyed the day out
Nice Course but mostly straight
Nice Course with simple Layout. Most Holes are straight. Friendly staff and players. Not much of a driving range, but enough to warm up.
Short but nice to play
Overall course was nice to play. Holes play short but have some charm. Nice neighborhood friendly staff and golfers. Not much of practice range but enough to warm up.
Always consistent
I've played Charbonneau many times. It's perfect for a fairly weak golfer like me. Each 9 runs about 2000 yds. There's one water hole on each 9. The course always seems to be well-maintained. The pace of play was good. Short waits at each tee. We were a threesome and played 18 in about 3.5 hours.
Just Okay
I played this course in May and commented on the overall good conditions of the course. 5 weeks later the lush roughs turned to hard pan and rough patches every where. It looks as if they haven’t watered the roughs in months. Disappointed. Price is high for the experience. Better deals exist at nicer courses.
Sharpen your game
This course requires you to find the fairways or you can say "hello bogey". It is good for sharpening your short game. Green speed was perfect.
Pretty resort course … no driver required
Course is challenging for what it is … greens were in good shape. Tee boxes could use some work. Overall 3.5 / 5
Senior friendly
I was pleased with the first time playing the Red/Green layout. It was the hottest day of the year so far but there were enough shady spots to wait and two water fountains centrally located nest to the restrooms on the front and back nines. Even though it was about a forty minute drive I do plan to return.
