Ash Brook Golf Course

When you first get to Ashbrook, you greeted by a very lodge beautiful clubhouse facility. You meet the starter, who is fantastic and professional. You get on the first T. box and You play the front nine, beautiful well groomed nice greens very well maintained. And you start the back nine, all is going well, until you get to the 14th hole. At this point the course conditions take a nose dive into a swamp! The 14th 15th 16th and 17th holes are basically underwater. Then you come back to dryland on the 18th hole to finish up what should've been a beautiful round. But those holes I mentioned are so bad that I will not return. Sorry, Ashbrook.

I knew the reviews coming into the round but I decided to ignore them and give my own assessment. Upon arrival I was impressed, the clubhouse, the bar, the friendliness of the staff and the course condition were amazing, I couldn’t ask for anything more. Before the round the starter told me 15, 16 and 17 were cart path only as they were dealing with a water issue. I didn’t think much of it, how bad could it be? Oh boy, those 3 holes were horrendous, it was a swamp. Also it hadn’t rained in the area for about 2 weeks, how could it still be so bad with the water? Enjoy the round for what it is, and I think you’ll really like it up until hole 15. I would try and look for a discount where available as you are basically paying for 15 playable holes

The course was in good shape and the greens were fast but Ashbrook knows the problems of this course, holes 14, 15, and 16. It's highway robbery to charge the prices you do, knowing the situation of those holes. A simple dredging and retaining wall project, instead of ALL THE MONEY spent on the clubhouse, could alleviate the problem. It's bad enough Union County only offers 2 courses and 1 of them, not Galloping Hills, has the reputation to be a waste of money. I hope renovations will be done during the off season to make the course completely playable.

Fourteen holes of this course were really great.

The other four were pretty terrible.

The starter told us there was an issue with drainage on a few holes in the back 9. One par four was made a par three, which was fine. But the terrible conditions of these holes made an otherwise great round much less enjoyable. These holes really need to be addressed to bring this course back to a great destination. Right now, it's not.

Back 9, 3 holes are not ready to play.

They should fix the those holes right away.

Most of the course is in good condition. There are a few holes on the back that were a muddy, extremely wet mess. As long as you are aware, the rest of the course is just fine. Pace was about 4.5 hrs.

Some Fairways are awful rough looked unkept there were legit 3 holes that should be shut down. the back 9 has some holes that are in terrible shape the place just doesn’t drain well at all . Front 9 was fine except hole 3’s fairway but back 9 had some holes that looked abandoned and for $70 that’s almost criminal.

Should only charge for nine holes.

This is not the first time I played this course. However, nothing has changed. The front 9 of the course is a nice course and beautifully laid out, it's a friendly walking course. The $61.00 price that I paid for this county course is an insult and it was a Monday. The 14th hole (par 5) is flooded as you approach the green. The 15th hole (par 3) was also flooded (the bunker was filled with water), the sitting area was also surrounded by water and mud), the 16th hole (par 4) was a complete mess, the tees were moved up at least 100 yards from where they are suppose to be. It's basically a par 3. They have pumps out there that are not being used. It's been like that for at least a year or more. And they have the nerve to charge the prices that they are charging. Shame on you, Union County. If you want to play on decent courses, Somerset County should be your choice.

Course was closed and didn’t get any notification. Found out after driving all the way to the course.

Booked 18 holes for 3 people, canceled my other tee time. Then morning of I receive an email saying its card path only and 9 holes instead of the 18 I booked. 0 stars if I could

People like to complain about the drainage. It’s a known thing but overall the course has a lot of charm and obstacles. Still a great 18 that’ll challenge you.
